Soul singer Erykah Badu debuts her first single, “Window Seat” from her upcoming fifth studio album, New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh.
The album is Badu’s follow-up to her 2008 release of the same title, and unlike it’s prequel, will feature more live instruments (the previous record was digitally produced in it’s entirety) and “taps into Badu’s emotional side by thematically focusing on romance and relationships.”
The track was co-produced by herself and James Poyser. The album is set to hit shelves March 30th, via Universal Motown Records.

I don’t like it. It’s too all over the place for me. I don’t mind her choppy earthy sounds but I don’t like when the sound is all over the place. I loved her last album tho.
It’s just ALWAYS a pleasure to listen to her singing voice. No matter what the song is. Her voice makes me actually visualize a story. Not that I go around bumpin’ me some Erykah (or maybe I should?), but whenever I hear her, she does that for me!!

I guess, I’m an Erykah stan too, because as an artist, I trust her abilities emphatically. I will buy her album even without hearing it because I know that it will be a quality album. Now, I’ve liked some of her albums more than others, but all of them were creative, interesting and clever. I think this song is very cool. I had to listen to it twice to get a better idea of what she’s saying…and that’s a good thing. I don’t think music challenges people nowadays. It should be pleasurable, but it should also inspire you. Maybe I’m weird, but I don’t like that black music has become synonymous with booty-popping and clubs. I’m glad that people like Sade and Erykah create a counter-balance.

I love it! Classic Erykah. I have a few of her CDs. She’s a good performer. I seen her and met her back in 08 at a concert in Dallas, although she fell and was almost 2 hours late. She autographed my ticket. Her and her sister look like twins. She’s definitely essentric and naturally pretty.
