I like the beat, and I think that’s about it.

  2. Iwasaslave_4u

The chorus is the best bit though. Think it needs a few good club remixes & the video best be fire. Ill give it a B-

    Good effort though.

  3. wtf

I hope they pushed it back to remove those offensive images that they had in it before. What black person thinks it’s ok to be prancing around in black face these days? Really Estelle? What’s next are you going to dance around in chains while a white man beats you with a whip? wtf? I will not support this coonery.

  4. LOVEMUSIC

LOVE IT ESTELLE VERY CREATIVE AND ARTISTIC !!

  5. mkef9779

i mean this is weak and degrading…the music is all over the place and very confusing. I really don’t like the melody and the words are ABSOLUTELY negative. I mean it’s overall negative material. I can’t believe that rapper collaborated with her after hearing the melody. his career is in jeaparhdee!! I’m telling You!

  6. eric crawley

im feeling the energy, can’t wait for the video

  7. chile boo

Yass Estelle!! Give The Kids What they want!! Us and the Older blacks are theonly ones buying music these days!!

  8. Hi Haters

I love Estelle this is like 2010 Milkshake. I also love Kardinal Offishall, his verse is hard!!!!!

  9. Hmm

I loooove the song!!! Now that black face (in the behind the scenes video) on the other hand–not so much.

  10. Dsteph16@FAU.EDU

Where were all of these calls for positive black images when–

Kelis was singing about her “milshake brings all the boys to the yard”

Beyonce was singing about “it’s too big, it’s too long, it won’t fit”

Beyonce was on her knees, playing with Jay-s’s belt buckle in Dejavu

Rihanna was butt azz naked in just about everything she does.

Oh, I almost forgot, light br*ghts are allowed to be promiscous.
Estelle, the “dark b*tt” has crossed the line.
    *sarcasm*

    NOW everything must be PC?

Your favorite artist has been cooning it up for years and packaging it as “art” and your Dumazz bought three copies and a concert ticket.

    DOUBLE STANDARD.

  11. Weekend_Love

AHHHH…..I LOVE THIS SONG AND I KNOW THE VIDEO IS GOING TO BE HARD!!!!

BROWN/DARK SKIN SISTERS COMING BACK STRONG….AT LEAST ESTELLE PUT SOME DAMN CLOTHES ON SMH

  12. CrackIsWack

I like the beat but its a random house beat… Does Estelle expect this track to blow up b/c she put a cool techno beat behind a whack ass song?

  13. CrackIsWack

excuse me, “cool house beat” @ my last comment

  14. laylah

CLUB BANGER, i can definately skank to this!

  15. wtf

    @ D.Steph16@fau.edu
Must we always make everything a lightskin vs. darkskin issue? Here we go again with the same ol’ Willie Lynch bullsh*t. First and foremost the only CD I have purchased recently is Maxwell. I don’t own one single Rihanna, Kelis, or Beyonce CD. Secondly it is a huge leap to compare sexually suggestive images to racially insensitive ones. You know damn well the negative connotations associated with that type of imagery. Don’t try to use Kelis, Rihanna,or Beyonce to cover up the fact that Estelle is a self loathing coon. She is up there shucking and jiving for the camera in black face and you try to excuse it because Rihanna likes to show her tiddays? Whatever point you were trying to make you FAILED miserably.

  16. Dsteph16@FAU.EDU

    @ WTF

The only FAIL on this forum is you and your poppy seed brain.

It’s unfortuante that you’re too blind to see that Rihanna showing her “tiddays” in videos/magazines and advocating suicide with “Russian Roulette” is JUST AS DESTRUCTIVE to the black community as Estelle “in black face” (which, by the way, Beyonce did herself in the movie, “:Dream Girls”).

    DOUBLE STANDARD.

and FYI, I can talk about light skin v. dark skin all day long because guess what, it is still a relevant issue and we still live under influence of Willie Lynch; If you can’t name one major female artist (on the level of Beyonce. Rihanna, or Mariah) with dark skin then there is CLEARLY STILL A PROBLEM.

And if you want to talk about the “negative connotations” of symbols, please don’t even get me started…with Beyonce on the front page of her website sporting the baphomet.

    Child Please…

  17. Blu

Ok every negative comment on here. please shutup. Lil Wayne talks about this all the time, Nikki Minaj, all them other rappers. She talking about the same thing. She is not degrading herself or woman she is just telling the truth. But its a problem now right. Maybe is she had a thousand tattoos or dreads it would be ok. Yall please hop off like seriously. She like everyone else is loving this mainstream media right now so its wateva anyway.

  18. Work Bitch!

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!! I’M LIVING FOR THIS!!! ESTELLE BETTA WORK BITCH!! THIS IS OVAH!! THE GIRLS ARE GOING TO GO CRAZY WHEN THIS COMES ON IN THE CLUB. THIS IS COMPRISED VERY WELL OF GOOD THROW BACK SONGS IN ONE. WHOEVA DON’T LIKE THIS DON’T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT GOOD CLUB DANCE MUSIC….AND MUST BE YOUNG!!

  19. Stephen

this is extremely wack. it doesnt happen too often that you come across such a horrible song. no melodies going, nothing. just noise.

  20. Nia

I like Estelle, but I aint feelin this one. And the blackface on any celeb is just tragic ignorance.

  21. DONMASON

Estelle repping for the UK on this one this is LONDON music right here, bare Gal gonna be skanking to this, incase you dont know skanking is a UK dance

  22. TRUTHFULLY CUTE 2010

*Playing The Song*…then a Drag Queen Pops Out of No Where And Starts Voguing and Dancing In Front of Me…WTF…

  23. Jrock

    DSteph has VERY interesting points!

As for this song, don’t really see it as a SINGLE, but it’s cool. Estelle is cool also. Her first CD is GREAT! I welcome her back.

  24. neon

@DONMASON sounds more like baltimore club music to me which would make sense since estelle collaborated with a baltimore dj a little while ago. i think she likes the club scene in bmore and decided to imitate it

  25. CaribbeanDivaah

i love estelle but i dnt like d song. i dont even hear kardinal singing wid those anoying sounds.they need to fix dis up

  26. Scripted

u ppl are dumb. ppl are not sayin this song is bad (well i am) its just THIS ISNT THE RIGHT SONG FOR HER. i mean this is the same chick that sang American Boy and now shes tryin this? its a total 180 and its going to throw her fanbase off. shes a real singer she doesnt have to do these types of songs to standout. if she does herself she WILL standout becuz nody else was doing wha she does get it? you become a standout by being yourself. simple

  27. truthfullyspeaking

Dsteph16@FAU.EDU I agree! And to WTF, you sound like a complete idiot and a driveller! It’s funny when light skinned, “attractive” chicks like Beyonce, and Rihanna or even white chicks like Lady Gaga and Fergie have offensive and nasty lyrics in their songs, it’s all right and becomes a hit, but because it’s a dark skinned “unattractive” chick, people are allowed to bash her? Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” is very inappropriate and the video is low class and hoish, Beyonce has been shaking her a** in every upbeat music video since the start of her solo career and talks about her “Kitty Kat” and like Dsteph16@FAU.EDU mentioned before, she mentions nasty metaphors for a man’s “ego” Lady Gaga talks about having a three some with females and riding a man’s “Disco Stick”…. it goes on and on.

The black face in Estelle’s video is just her doing what she considers “ART.” It has nothing to do with being racist against herself. Anyone who thinks that, take a damn good look at models like Grace Jones and Tyra Banks! They’ve done photo shoots with black paint on their face! Plus, Shakira had black paint on her body in one of her music videos… is she making fun of blacks? Anyway, I like the beat of the song, I don’t care for the nasty lyrics, but I don’t like the double standards about this song or soon to be music video.

  28. Lolly London-UK

The beat is OK… not sure of the lyrics, but that just my personal taste. Feeling the Soul II Soul sample… 5/10 …

  29. carla123

Who cares!!! My boyfriend thinks the same with me. He- is eight years older than me, lol. @truthfullyspeaking i have to say that i agree with all that you said. she’s not saying anything that hasn’t been said before. why is it that bee and especially riri can get away with being overtly sexual but estelle can’t? and i don’t think the blackface was meant to be racist. of course the image has a history but context and person matters. estelle doesn’t strike me as racist towards her people. i also think she did it b/c she was going for an artsy look and i think she should be able to do that w/o thinking about whether or not she is giving ammunition to ppl who are already racist anyway. and if estelle is going to be hated on for it, i hope these people who are so upset are also mad at soulja boy and other present-day minstrel artists. the only thing i have to say though is that i think she executed it poorly (hate the red lips-i think that’s what is throwing ppl off too and making them think of racist imagery-she should’ve gone all black like the ‘anything” vid by martina-that look was stunning-or maybe try blue but i hate the color contrast bet. black and red)

  31. DiamondLatrelle

The song was OK- I like the Soul II Soul sample as well. It sounds just like a dance club track. I could barely hear Kardinal Offishal rapping on the track.

  32. wtf

    @ DSteph & truthfullyspeaking

Again I ask you wtf does Beyonce & Rihanna have to do with Estelle parading around looking like a buffoon? All of a sudden you want to throw other light skinned artists into the equation. I didn’t see you going on this rampage when they posted about Beyonce and Rihanna. You are trying to take the attention off of Estelle by bringing up people that have nothing to do with this post. Her cooning for the camera in black face is racially offensive. Rihanna and Beyonce shaking their azzes is not. Stick to the topic at hand. If Rihanna or Beyonce were wearing black face I would be just as upset. The fact that you have no problem with what Estelle is doing and you want to give her a pass lets me know that you really actually have a problem with Beyonce and Rihanna. What are they a little too light for you? DOUBLE STANDARD. As long as you are dark and fugly you can do whatever you want?? But the light skinned chicks should be ashamed? You both sound stupid as hell.

  33. SayItLoud

I appreciate good points made by some here as it relates to estelle,s use of a black face. However, WTF made points that didnt deviate from the issue argued. For me, the point WTF argued is well taken. Success for Estelle is key and the media could have a field day with this. I dont think she would want sales hampered with this becoming an issue and controversial. He best she scrap this and rework the video . . . And perhaps the lyrics. . . . . It seems to me this David Guetta loves working with rich dark chocolate folks. Hmmm.

  34. meme

Love this track. its on constant replay. I must admit it is not the most grand music i’ve heard and the lyrics lack substance but it is a fun track. and at the end of the day I just want to dance!

  35. TheE

what is the big fight over we have been listening to racist, demeaning music long enough already….somebody puts paint on their face and now its a big problem. If she put white paint on would that make u feel better? no then its gonna be “oh she tryin to turn white!” shes not even the first artist to wear black paint on her face beyonce has, diana ross has, and many others and out of all the suggestive things in music these days estell’s painted up ass should be the least of your worries. why not talk about the kkk rally they was tryin to have in atl last week or the fact that people are openly tryin to get Obama impeeched. (where were they when Bush was in office)

Anyway for the record I think that its a matter of how big u are in this situation not ur skin pigmentation cuz there are alot of estelle haters out there and not as much fans.
The video looks interesting & the song is OK but i dont think it will be that big UNLESS they come up w/ a dance 4 it b/c its beat isn’t that easy to dance to. its got the beat of the remix of tote it and really the only dance u could do to it is “da spongebob”.

As for that little darkskinned vs lightskinned debate goin on debate ova.

  36. MusicLova

    I LIKE IT…SOUNDS LIKE A HOUSE SONG THO…

  38. Dessy

I remember when Estelle was a Neo-Soul singer. Now she’s making corny ass songs like this. SMH! She sure as hell is conforming to the American music industry

  39. sickwitit

she ruined the soul II soul sample…return to sender

  40. ihigh

YAAAASSS Estelle made this fro all the Gwaarrrrlllsss. LMAO

  41. FallBackHaters

Damn this song is going to go HARD in the clubs!! This is def going to be a smash in Australia/Europe.

And I peeped that Soul II Soul sample.

  42. BLACK-N-MILD

    @ 23…exactly what i was thinking!
my divas are gonna LOVE this.

  43. Theopen1

I like the song but I wouldn’t think its really something she would sing. I feel like this is something Kelis would do.

  44. SinplySinful

I think it’s just messed up that people are bringing her as well as other artist down because they want to be sexy. It’s freedom of speech and if Estelle, Beyonce, or any other artist female,or male want to talk about sex let them! Not every song is going to be about love or something. Let them have fun. And as far as this racist mess its really sad to see that it still exist among light skin and dark skin. Doesn’t matter if they are light or dark or blue or poka dotted! Let them all just do they thang! Oh, and the whole black paint and red lips in the video…WHO CARES!!!! Did the woman say it had to anything to do with racism, or making fun of blacks, or what the hell ever!!!! It’s a freakin video!! People are so close minded these days. Just goes to show you can’t please anyone. And just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean it not good music and that other people don’t like it. Estelle go ahead and do yo thang. Let em hate. When people stoptalking bout you at all, thats when you should worry.

  45. Skipp

Don’t like the song. The sample missed the mark for me. Lame, lame, lame.

  46. yur.

sounds like somethin for the queens lol i know they are livviiiinnnnnn!!

  47. FlyyIAm

    annnnnnnnnnt wrong
What does Beyonce has to with this topic? and what Beyonce did in Dreamgirls clearly was for artistry? it has nothing to do with picket ninny and the slave plantation. Who are we to judge what someone does especially an artist?

And I see that many of you take “Ego” so literal its just a song. Everyone in the industry sells sex so who cares? Beyonce not only just sha*kes her ass, clearly we have some double standards going on.

  48. marco

my booty be jigglin to this my sh*****************tttttttttt !!!!
