Music’s biggest stars gathered at Jim Henson Studios on Los Angeles on Monday (February 1st) to re-record the iconic 1985 charity single, “We Are the World.” In celebration of the song’s 25th Anniversary various stars including, Jennifer Hudson, Kanye West, Usher, will. i.am, Brandy, Toni Braxton, Barbra Streisand, LL Cool J, Wyclef Jean, India.Arie, Lil Wanye and more turned out for the recording to raise money for relief efforts in Haiti.
“This one, the enthusiasm, I’ve never seen anything like it,” says Lionel Richie, who co-wrote the original song with Michael Jackson, and oversaw the new version with music legend Quincy Jones.
The video is expected to be released in a couple weeks. Also, it was reported that Jay-Z, Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga would be lending their voices too.

I Love when artists come together like this. So many different variety of voices. A while back they did “What’s Going On” and for the election between Bush and Kerry they did the Late Teddy Pendergrass’ “Wake Up Everybody”. Very touching song. There were other artists included like Marsha A. Jahiem, Mary J. Blige, Monica, Musiq S, Fab, Missy, and Jada. i cant wait to see what this remake sounds like.

I don’t think they should have re-made it honestly they could have made another song and let We are the World continue to be great as it was. I understand that it’s been 25 years but the genius behind it is no longer here and having people record over it and especially him is not needed. To me it just doesn’t seem right, they could have created a song and let it be great just like they did for Just Stand Up to Cancer last year. All these people and none of them could come up with a song?
