VIDEO: SADE ON THE WANDA SYKES SHOW
Monday, February 22, 2010
Check out Sade showing off another side of herself on The Wanda Sykes Show. Wanda, who considers herself Sade’s biggest fan, finally gets the singer on her show after offering up her parking spot and a horse. Sade takes her up on the offer and even hints at the next album’s release: “See you in 2020!“

Sada is a good sport to do that skit with wierd Wanda. Sada and Whitney were on top of the world back in the 80s &90s. I’m glad they are both back from abuses and more focused. It’s frunny how Wanda pronounces her name “Shardae”. And, it was funny when Sada said, “he’s from Harlem”…does that make it a black history month thang? I liked the way she worked with that “mule”.

Sade is Like no other!! That skit was funny too. She still looks sooo damn good too. Ladies please take note on how to Keep it sexy when you get older.
Artists please take heed on how to stay true to music and especially one’s self. Sade has never changed her Artistry and music for anything….. not money nor fame and that’s how you make real passionate music worth listening to and buying.

Wanda can’t even pronounce her name correctly. Its not “Sharday” its ” Sha-Day”..how ignorant and disrespectful she is to consider herself to be fan and cant even master her name.

Anywho, the skit was really funny! I don’t think I have every heard Sade speak or seen an interview with her, so this was nice to see her in a different way! She played off of Wandy well!
I’m not a huge Sade fan, I like some of her songs, but I am not feeling anything for her album this time around.

not surprised SADE did the skit with Wanda…they are astrologically compatiable…SADE is a capricorn (they ususally look older when younger and age gracefully when older) and Wanda is a piscean….a perfect combo….
I had Sade’s huge poster on my college wall at age 19 and I’m in my 40’s and I still have the poster, enough said…
go to Sade’s website and Sade with tell you how she didn’t want to be a singer, but God knew otherwise, thus why she’s been true to SELF, she’s followed God guidance and in the end it pays off, you don’t have to sell your soul to the devil…. like countless others…
I luved the skit, it was Sade as we’ve never seen her, werk it Wanda !!!!

If Sade was a young black American woman, she would almost unanimously be called a non-talented transexual, but because she’s African, she’s “regal” lol. People didn’t catch what she stated concerning black history month, concerning having someone in her camp “from Harlem”. Notice, she as an African, did not affiliate HERSELF with that commemoration.
46.
Bella Anais
Tuesday, February 23, 2010 /
That was too cute. @Judah she may not feel a direct connection with Black history domestically (in the US) however that does not mean that she does not feel a diasporic connection to other Black histories. I do not believe her comment should be taken as a reason to write her off.

Stop! LMAO I was going to say the same thing. She seemed very much like a transsexual, everything about her. Just odd.
On another note, I do not find Wanda Syke’s funny at all. She sounds like a runaway slave: Sar-day? Why did she run up to Sade like a damn monkey? I wonder who gave her and Monique’s buffoon as.s their own show? With all that money, they both should get an education and a speech therapist along with improv/comic classes.

Their name is pronounced shar-day! look it up! Letterman pronounced it Shar-day as well. black people especially have a tendency to mis-pronounce peoples names. ex. people always say aaliyah’s name ugh-leeyah when it is aah-leeyah.

Well, the O’Jays pronounced Sade as: “Say-dee”, don’t you know we love you, sweet Sade. Not Shar-day. She, Kanye, and Beyonce’ coming up here with all that accent on the e’ is just bad for American school children.
When I’m down in the south, we say Say-dee…

Let me straighten this out now. Her name is is pronounced Sha-day. It’s Nigerian. On her first album cover, there is a phonetic spelling indicating it is pronounced Shar-day. Blame her record company for the error.
@BackingBarack- Not only is Wanda extremely funny, she’s also very intellingent, educated and politically astute. If you can’t see that or can’t get past her Virginia accent, what does that say about you? BTW, Barack Obama finds her quite funny.

57. MeeMee, Don’t forget this is the same Sade who made “horsey” sound like “p*ssy”. lol She has a strong accent and the people at Epic got it twisted too.
ACTUALLY Sade said in an interview in the 80’s that in the US people pronounce her name SHAR-DAY because her english accent makes it sound like an “r” is added. However she said its really pronounced “Sha-Deh” with an african accent. Also Epic added “pronounced ‘Shar-Day” so people would turn the s sound into an sh sound when saying her name. Maybe it would help to pronounce it like “Shah” of Iran.
“Shah-dae” But, it is definetly not “Shar-day”.

@57 Of course you would find her funny because you have a runaway slave/ nig.ger mentality too. It’s fine. Uneducated minds think alike and share the same humor. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it.
You just proved yourself as an idiot. You said Sade is pronounced Sha-day, so why is your homegirl Wanda saying Shar-day? Her mispronouncing Sade’s name was one example I gave but every word she speaks is as though she forgot she was not picking cotton and that she is not “free.”

@BackingBarack- I refrained from name-calling, because that is something that someone with a slave mentality would do. Besides referring to you as a moron would be superflous. I guess the President is uneducated and has a slave mentality as well. At least I’m in good company.

I thought the skit was semi funny.
Sade’s voice is probably that deep because she smokes (I think she’s trying to quit). I know quite a few old black and spanish mami’s who’s voice is as deep as hers, LOL!
Wanda has her act down pat. When she was on Curb Your Enthusiasm she didn’t speak like she did in that skit. The bottom line is she’s making money, she’s on tv and happy.

Meat actually the way Wanda said Sade is correct. That is the way Sade says her group’s name all the time. Her skit was ok but it would have been nice if she performed at Wanda’s show to help her ratings. I knew Wanda had a show but have not watched it because I do not know what time it comes on.

How can I say this: Sade is musical Zen. She and the band. Timeless, reclusive, poignant and soothing.
But she, the singer Sade, is royalty. To use one of her song titles, it as if God gave her pearl skin. She hasn’t so much as aged in a decade, but rather she’s maintained.
Great to see her softer side, even if Wanda Sykes’ jester act was a bit pathetic. As always J. Dakar is the one to continuously bring us the alternative to hot-for-the-second mainstream music.

For those of you who confused about Sade’s name pronunciation, let me break it down for you: ‘S’ as ‘SH’ ; ‘A’ as ‘ARE’ ; ‘D’ as in ‘D’ ; ‘E’ as in ‘A’.
For more info, go learn Yoruba alphabets: A B D E etc.
