I’m so proud of Dondria, and I’m happy that things are moving along for her project. I had the chance to Interview Dondria back in 2008 a few months after she got signed, and she’s such a humble talent.

I know of many black women with long hair of their own as well. But I’ve seen too many whose real hair must be dying to breathe. I’m sure you’ve also seen women of color with receding hairlines brought about by perpetuating the long hair myth at the cost of keeping their own hair.
Not giving too much power to the issue of hair, however the eventual baldness speaks for itself.

She has a vocal tone similar to Beyonce’s tone when singing. I like how her personality come through the interview… very humbling, yet self deprecating with the name phatfatt because she eats plenty… love people who make fun of themselves. She has a beautiful voice. Hopefully Dupri will give her material that really showcase her talent. She is also physically beautiful. Best of luck to hear.
On another hair note. There are many black women with naturally long full head of hair because I am one among them. I think weave is a good alternative if used correctly. Weave should not be used 365 days of the year, maybe half that time. It pull to much on your hair, limits exposure to sunlight (vitamin D) and air which eventually thins out your hair, recedes your hairline and keeps your scalp not properly cleaned. No one really tries to have their hair look like ours, but because we as a race are 1/4 the world’s population we feel we have to have hair like the other 3/4. Not just European, but also Asians like Indians ( most of us including caucasians use indian hair for weaves or extensions). For those using weaves, there should be times in the year that you are proud of the hair you have and let it breathe.
