It’s funny how folks like to praise Lady Gaga for the madness she does, but then discredit Janelle Monae for her own weirdness.
The woman is brilliant, point black. She’s a Grammy Nominated artist already for putting out a 4 song EP. Not even an album, just 4 songs!! I saw her concert earlier this week and the new stuff she’s putting out is really incredible. Even the slow songs was nuts and she was crowd surfing. The people love her. She’s building her brand from the ground up, not somebody like Gaga who decided to get crazy as soon as she got signed. Janelle was normal at first and developed her own appeal while being indie, and made a demand for it.
It’s a shame that a white person is considered brilliant for their eccentric tastes while a black person has to try extra harder just to be acknowledged for their own. Not a diss to races, just a retarded stigma that I see within ourselves.
