Love it…Kelis is one of the originators if the creativity. Its just a shame that artist like Rihanna and Gaga become huge over night, while Kelis who been doing this from early 2000 never catched on. I still LOVE the “Tasty album”. She makes great music. Cant wait for the new one.

I LOVE Kelis like cooked food. I own all of her albums even Wanderland which wasn’t officially released in the US. However, Im afraid that I don’t like this new “differentness”. No doubt, Kelis has always been out there, but these recent pics look a mess like she’s trying too hard to stand out. Being different has become mainstream. Its the expectation and the gimmick now. I feel like artists like Kelis who have always been authentic have to try much harder to appeal to the aesthetic they’ve always excelled at. This pic is just strange and ugly to me and that’s real talk coming from a huge fan. I feel like Kelis has NEVER been marketed correctly, or maybe its just that weird wasn’t “in” when she debuted as an artist. Either way, this blonde mullet and alien look is a no-go for me, but I’m still very curious about the music!

However, Kelis is a true inventive and original person, matter fact, she thinks being pretty is boring. She remains one of my fav female artists and the one of the baddest. Her music is refreshinng and teaming wit the neptunes is brilliant cuz I swear listennin to her last album which i recommend to everyone, ‘kelis was here’ I still cant belive it was overlooked and ignored. You listen to that 2006 album and think this b!tch was in advance of her time cuz the songs are so 2010, like everythin ppl are doin right now, its on her album she released in 2006!! Kelis is going to keep doing what she wants and people are going to either hate it or love it. I personally respect what she is doing as an artist and her ideas. Understand her and maybe you will too. She said in an interview being ‘pretty is so boring’, I agree fully what she’s saying because everybody and their daughters are getting surgery on themselves to look ‘pretty’. Kelis has always been misunderstood and called weird since she came out but she’s just more fixed on herself internally and externally.Generally Kelis is not received well by us as consumers and normal human beings. It’s selfish in a good way that she only cares what she thinks of herself but at least it’s something positive like expressing yourself, she’s not harming anybody physically or verbally. I believe she brings her unconscious ideas and beliefs to the forefront. The things we think in the back of our minds but aren’t socially acceptable.

Love her or hate her she is an original.

I am really disappointed in Kelis. I think she feels with the likes of Gaga and Rihanna dominating the style arena she needs to be different and it is failing. Y’all saw the horse outfit she wore? Why? Maybe with the breakdown of marriage and becoming a mother is affecting her more than she can realise.
