At 3:33 a.m. EST on Saturday, Erykah Badu premiered the new video for “Window Seat“, the first single from her new album. Filmed in downtown Dallas, the video was shot guerrilla-style with no crew, no closed set and completed in a single take.
Erykah’s fifth album, New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh, will be released on Tuesday, March 30.

I think the video concept is that when people don’t understand something, they either verbally or literally assassinate you. No one asked Erykah why she was walking down the street naked. Even in the act of making and sharing this video…our responses to it….these are some our truths being exposed and unearthed regarding our issues with nudity…maybe Black women having survived the legacy of slavery in America, find it too severe, putting us in a place to be scrutinized, degraded, sexualized, exploited….
