Former Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland gives us a taste of what’s to come on this upcoming third studio album, which fans have been anticipating.
The new track, “Smooches” is a buzz single, produced by Bangladesh, who is responsible for creating the hits “Diva,” and “Video Phone” for Beyonce, as well as Lil’ Wayne’s smash, “A Milli.”
The new sound for Kelly is exciting. Let’s hope that this track can build enough buzz and that her new situation with label and management will allow her to spread her wings on this new project. She’s been in the studio with David Guetta, Sean Garrett, as well as hitmaker, Rico Love. No word on a solid release date.

The song is dope. It’s not Kelly’s song though, it was supposed to be Teyana Taylor’s but oh well. Kelly sounds great on it. It doesn’t sound finished because it isn’t, Kelly didn’t keep this for her album and Teyana bought it. Someone from the producers camp leaked Kelly’s vocals. Teyanna threw a bitchfit and ‘quit’ music! HA HA HA HA HA! Vocally Kelly sounds great. I am interested in hearing what she is coming out with.
I was just reading somewhere else how teyana taylor said that kelly stole this song from her and she was gonna quit the music industry bcuz of this. My 1st thought was nobody really knows teyana as an artist anyways. Not to be funny I’m very serious. And furthermore everyone knows the industry can be very shady so more power to both of them. This isn’t going to be on her album. This song has been given to Teyana Taylor and is set to be her lead single. BTW, this song isn’t meant to be one to showcase someone’s vocals. Anyone who has seen DC performances or even solo performances can tell you that Kelly can very well sing. If you’d ever listened to her albums, you might know that.

it really sucked that Beyonce didn’t do anything w/Diva (it had a boring video and never got big air play) and Video Phone had a cheap ass looking video. Just blah! So I would say Milli is this guys/girls/teams best endeavor to date.
Can’t really hear Kelly in this song but maybe that’s the point and it sounds very cross-over poppish. If Keri Hilson’s “music” was a hit then this should be too. It’s no worse than what’s out now but no better either. Everyone wants a “different” sounds which makes nothing sound different when everyone take the same approach. I’m hoping Kelly was being sincere on Twitter last night when she said that “Smooches” isn’t the way her record has evolved since she recorded it. This isn’t what’s finally gonna put her on equal footing in America. If this is the direction her new sound goes in, her 3rd album won’t be the charm, whether she has new management or not. I like Kelly and very much want her to succeed, if only so people can stop bitching that brown-skinned girls can’t catch a break, and that she’s flopped in the US cause her last name doesn’t begin with a K.
But if this is the way she plans to ‘take over’? Its not gonna fly. She has a beautiful voice- never was that more apparent than on Destiny Fulfilled- I so wish she’d USE it.

Kelly sounds good on the song. The vocals are not even that processed, she just ususe a nasally fun tone. Love the arrangement and harmonies.
I’m a huge fan of DC, and I used to feel Michelle was my fave outside of the group because I like her gospel albums, but now that I think about it I think I like more of Kelly’s music outside of DC (besides LeToya of course). Beyonce has never gotten any money from me solo wise.

I agree with #16, this is not singing, it is studio trickery. Layered studio vocals like this, will make the song impossible to sing live. Kelly.has a good voice, and this kind of sound should be beneath her. But I guess she has to fit in somewhere.
