NEW MUSIC: MONICA – “MIRROR”
Monica has been able to keep a lot of her music from her forthcoming studio album, Still Standing under wraps but this new track, “Mirror” was recently leaked.
The song was produced by Jim Jonsin and will appear on her upcoming album, Still Standing (in stores next week, March 23rd).

This song makes no sense. I dont know what she is talking about. One minute it sounds like all the money and fame means nothing if she is ashamed of the person she sees in the mirror; but some lines of the song suggest its about having a man by her side.

LMAO, how can you be sick of her, when she’s not even in the public eye like that? If you want to be sick of somebody, it should be Beyonce, Rhianna and those same three or 4 people releasing albums every month. Monica hasn’t had an album out in 4 years. There’s nothing to be sick of her about LOL.
Anyway, I like this song by Mo because of the message. Not only is she actually singing, but she has meaningful, posititive lyrics. Something that is very much missing in today’s R&B and Hip Hop. Other than that, Monica’s album is hot. I know I heard clips of it.
Havent even listened to it yet…ill wait until the 23rd to go cop the album. I heard nothing but great things about it. Love mo. She look absolutely stunning.

@Real Talk She’s not talking about a man, she’s talking about her sons. And the message is not unclear. She basically says all through the song that she has nothing to be ashamed of, and that she’s comfortable with herself and what she sees in the mirror. There’s nothing unclear about that. Maybe your comprehension skills are not up to par.
Anyway, I’m sick of y’all calling everything a flop. The song is not even going to be a single for it to flop. It’s just an album cut that was released to her fans. Monica is not flopping by the way. She happens to be doing very well on the charts with her current single, and her album is projected to do well. Again, just because she’s not your Beyonce and whoever else, doesn’t mean she isn’t succesful or not going to be, Monica been doing this for 15 years. She don’t have longevity for no reason. I hate how people disrespect our vets in the business.

Well, Monica could be singing about a number of things, God…a man(that has since been deleted) or…her children.
Honestly I don’t care what she is singing about cuz girl is SANGING on this track! I’m liking this project on her for real. She is bringing variety and she is bringing her VOICE.
I personally like it but im affraid this sound is so dated. This kinda music will not sell.
It must be such a struggle for artist like Monica to make great music but at the sametime make music that will sell.

The song has Rihanna’s roulette vibe to hit…slow and mystic. Monica should have colaborated with Rihanna to give it more commerence and depth. You notice how Jay Z. and Kanye benefitted from teaming up with her.

This is one of the greatest tracks I’ve heard in a long time. The one thing that I appreciate about a vocalist (singer) like Monica is she sings her songs with such conviction. There is no false pretense with her, and the lyrics are so real. I love Monica, and I love this song! She is on her way to kill the game…..btw “Still Standing” in stores March 23, 2010. I loved loved loved Street Symphony. I still play it to this day. This song is okay. I do not know if its a song I would go to love. Hopefully its not the second single.
The 1st verse has a similiar melody to Milira “Go Outside In The Rain” I see she took a lot of inspiration from classic R&B when creating this album… My moms used to listen to that song heavy that’s how I know it… haha
