While on her Nothing but Love tour (her first in over 10 years), Whitney Houston sat down for an interview detailing her collaboration of the hit single “Million Dollar Bill” with Alicia Keys, how music has changed over the last few years and that her comeback album being met with success means people want to hear someone sing:
They want to hear someone who from all the years I’ve been in the music business — which is now going on 30 years — sing love to them, not so much strip for them, take their clothes off for them, or you know do soft porn for them. They want to hear love. They want to feel love. They want to raise their daughters with integrity and dignity and pride that doesn’t require that.
Whitney wrapped things up in Australia earlier this month and will kick off the main European leg of the tour in Paris on April 6.
She sounds horrible.

Wow.. i definitely didnt know that… I knew Alicia was the truth but damn writing for a legend like Whitney makes me respect her as a musicial even more… Its amazing how talented she is… And she definitely dont have to take off her clothes or strip to get where she is. I love Whitney; Sade aswell. Both are legends in their fourth decade and still getting number one albums. Unfortunately, they both started at a time when most in the industry were on drugs, and yes it does affect the voice. But I still respect how far they have come.

This interview was pretty good. I got alot out of it and information about her that I never knew before. She seems to be in a good place now. It’s so good to hear artists expound on several topics, make sense and sound coherent and SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH with no slang!
I love Million Dollar Bill- didn’t know Alicia wrote that for her. That song for some reason gets stuck in my head and made me buy her album, lol Whitney is my dawg and i’m not finding anything wrong with anything she said in that interview. She came across well. Can’t believe she’s at 30yrs in her career and to the poster above, Whitney was out before Madonna- she had a recording spot on Material’s record and sang backup for Lou Rawls and Chaka Khan before she got her record deal but professional debut, i think Madonna has a year or 2 on her.
I am a fan and got her album. What i liked is that she took the time to thank and to recognize her fans. Than was nice. I’m so glad she is doing better. She seemed really sincere and thankful.

She isn’t talking about Lady Gaga, or Rihanna, or Mariah Carey. She’s talking about MUSIC IN GENERAL. Every era should have one or two Madonnas and Lady Gagas. It’s alright but when these people oversaturate the market and music becomes more about shaking your booties and showing your boobies and not the VOICE, that’s a problem. You can see that Whitney is very lenient when it comes to Madonna (they’re friends) and Whitney once defended Madonna for the “cone shaped bras” and crazy outfit, saying it’s just an artistic expression. So clearly she isn’t targeting any specific artist. She’s just talking about her personal views what Music has become today and that is EVERYBODY turning to soft porn rather than using the VOICE. There are no true vocalists nowadays. People need to resort to all kinds of sensational stuff to entertain people. It’s not a problem when one or a few artists do that. But it’s clearly a problem when EVERYONE is doing that – look at Mariah rolling in a bikini, Trey Songz making music videos about having sex, Rihanna Kesha and Lady Gaga and the crazy outfits, Beyonce making soft porn music videos, countless singers singing about having sex and taking drugs instead of the message of love and dignity. There are simply no real VOCALISTS nowadays. Whitney has gone through the absolute worst so she should know best. And Whitney Houston has never talked badly of any other artist.
