HOT OR NOT: LABAN KING – “ONE CHANCE”

♫ Laban King – One Chance

Laban King has been making music for over 20 years, singing with various choirs in the metro Detroit area before working on his solo R&B/pop career five years ago.

Now he’s set to release his debut album, The Fall Out, next month via ZUPITER Entertainment, a multimedia entertainment company and independent label he created with Brooks Lane. Check out Laban King’s first single, “One Chance”, written by Laban and EJ Wright and produced by JDS, Karen Clark Sheard’s son.

I like the song. It’s hot.

@58. I am from Detroit and although I don’t know Laben personally I have heard of him. For you to say he is only known in the gay scene is false. Everyone knows his. I’m not in no gay scene and I know him. I see him at church events all the time. I just feel like that comment was not true and uncalled for. I wish that more detroiter get behind him, princeton, newland, b.hines, big Sean and other DETROIT artist and stop hating. Hey will be he ones that will help this city get back on it’s feet.

WELL…..I LIKE THE SONG, AND NOT BECUZ UR MY COUSIN! I DON’T THINK THAT YOU NEED THE AUTOTUNE EITHER, BUT DON’T LET THE HATERS BOTHER YOU. U DO HAVE A GREAT VOICE WITHOUT IT, SO MY OPINION….LOSE THE AUTOTUNE, AND JUST LET THE WORLD HEAR UR VOICE. LOVE YA!

  5. The Truth

@58 – so you mad? lol. I didn’t say he wasn’t just known on the gay scene. read correctly sweetie. And if you knew who I were, you wouldn’t be saying the things your saying. I have no reason to hate, I’m well adjusted in my buzzing career. I’m giving my feedback as a listener and observer. As an up & coming artists he’ll receive a lot of that. I also gave him some advice on what he could improve as far as his vocals go. When it comes to Detroiters supporting Detroit artists, we definitely support them. Some of them just don’t have that star quality. Not everyone can go big. And by the way, haters are an artist biggest support system. They keep an artist relevant. But I see no real reason in defending my criticism to you, since you are not Laban King. Take care Lisa the Concreteloop Commenter. God Bless.

  6. The Truth

that was for @60 . Sorry lol

The beat was cool. I’m not a music industry person, so i can’t say if its “Real singing” (as so many have said) or not. To the average consumer (me and BILLIONS OF OTHERS) , this song was nice. Real singing to me is anything that entertains people and gets their foot tapping or head moving . People in the music industry kill me saying “this aint real”, “that aint real”. Well music industry person…you represent such a small percentage of the intended audience, what matters is what we (again the average consumer) like.

One constructive critique…………i didn’t know what he was saying though out some of it. I just heard “one more chance” and a few other words…maybe i’m going deaf if no one else had that issue. But anywho…….

    Thanks for Reading,

I went to college with Laban but dont know him real well. The vocals were not good. It was pitchy. I didnt have an issue with the autotune but it sounds very cookie cutter. Like all the other songs you hear on the radio, with worse vocals. Like others said before me. The production is excellent but thats about it.

  25. Knowledge

People I do not know Laban either, But my Grandmother told me a long time ago if you stir Shit it would Sneak…. And it smell really bad! So Listen, The song is not bad at all, it’s actually better than a lot of the music that is currently playing on the radio.. As far as him being Gay…. So what! Most of them are!.. Music comes from the heart, Real Music comes from musicians is simply to inject the service marked phrase, itself, into the environment, provoking interest and awareness of musicians as the actual source of music.
Look you want to be a musician that focus on your quality of sound and musician that sells a lot of records. Man Look…… Fuck what everyone has to say about audio tune, your music sound good. I would add your CD to my collection. Good Luck!

I liked this song the first time i heard it. I think it is very marketable and def a club hit. Club djs will eat this up. On the other hand, I do not think it showcases your vocal talent but I assume there will be other songs on your CD that highlight that. tres bian et bon chance!

His voice is annoying at times and the song sounds like a reject from a Timbo project but it’s catchy and the beat is decent.
