♫ Usher & Robin Thicke – Secret Garden
Considering that both of them just released an album, it’s interesting that a collaboration between Usher and Robin Thicke is just now surfacing.
“Secret Garden” was produced by the legendary Quincy Jones and samples the original classic of the same title by Barry White, Al B. Sure, James Ingram and El DeBarge.

Actually it’s Robin Thicke, Usher, Trey Songz, Tyrese and Tevin produced by Jermaine Dupri. This is from the up and coming Quincy Jones tribute album.
@57: Jon B can’t sing…Robin can. I’ll take Robin before Justin Timberlake fake behind
nope…….
It sounded nice from the intro and then once the dance beat came in—-it KILLED the song. The original sounds much BETTER!!
Horrible! Only good part is Tevin Campbell at the end. Jermaine should have had him do all the new vocals and left the original vocals
Will Quincy Jones just stop it! smdh
@ 62 I saw Jon B perform in NYC and he can sing better than Robin Thicke and that was live.
Robin Thicke is trying so hard to be the white RNB singer but Jon B’s been there done that. Plus, he came out singing RNB unlike Robin who just started after getting married to that mixed chick.
Plus, Jon has had classic RNB songs like They Don’t Know, Still Down, What you Say boo What, Pretty Girl, & Someone to Love. Him & Babyface were the ish together. Plus he wrote songs for Toni Braxton back in the day, Color Me Badd & Michael Jackson. Robin Thicke can not hold a stick to Jon’s career and talent. He also plays the bass, drum and piano well- classically trained!
@Kiddo I thought the same thing, Robin did sound a lot like my Michael but I wasnt mad, actually it made me smile to see how much my Michael has influenced so many artists and how Michael’s style will always live on in artists like Usher, Robin, etc. I used to hate it when artists sounded like or copied Michael but now I appreciate it.
@ toodles Jon B is equally as talented as Robin Thicke. And Robin has been singing R&B/Soul music for a long time, way before he married that “mixed chick” as you say…. smh and rolling my eyes……google his first album from the 90s
@69
His first album in the 90s was not RnB it was alternative. He started changing his sound and image with album named The Evolution of Robin Thicke where he used the monkey to caveman ploy as advertisement and Lost Without You was his single from it.
Robin Thicke was a long haired dirty hippy as.s pale riding bike grunge sounding and looking fool when he first came out and that is his true self.
Plus, he needs to wash off that mascara he has on. Not cute!!!!
He is so androgynous. I can not believe he procreated.
**What In The Sam HIill was that?!**
1st…Like everyone else, I was diggin it until the dance track. No Quincy/Jermaine!
2nd…I agree Usher and Robin Thicke could have pulled this off if that “MUNCHICHI” Dupri hadn’t royally effed up the song.
3rd….Yes, dont remake classic songs. If you do make sure it is damn good. Hell I remember when they performed secret garden at the soul train music awards! Still have that on VHS!, And they handled up, classic as always!
4th….Tevin, boo-boo why oh why? Oh, and I peeped Barry White in there. He did the original justice as well.
5th….Attention all record execs, producers, and idiotic schmucks: Stop the maddness, real talk. The people have not spoken on this one.
@ Barried…
This version does not have everyone on it. It’s Usher singing most of the parts, Robin doing the chorus and ad-libs. That’s why this says Usher & Robin Thicke. Usher originally recorded the whole thing sans the rest of the features bc it was a rumored track on his album, they later had other people come and put their parts on. The only other person on here is Tevin Campbell towards the end. Again, LL Cool J has been rumored to be int he final project (WHY I DO NOT KNOW, WTF) as reported by MTV.
@Toodles..
LOL what’s with all the hate towards Robin? When I Get You Alone was a cross-genre single, not “alternative” — it had R&B influences. He has been with that mixed chick, Paula Patton, since high school. The same way Jon B was with his black wife before he entered the industry as well. While Jon B is the better vocalist in my opinion, Robin Thicke makes better music as a whole. Also note, that Jon B’s first album was majorly influenced by Babyface — Robin Thicke on the other hand did not have that support so who knows how he may have sounded if he had an R&B great overseeing his project. Also his first single from The Evolution of Robin Thicke was not Lost Without U, it was I Wanna Love You which Pharrell produced. And like Babyface did for Jon B, it was Pharrell who was instrumental in helping Rob make the Evolution of Robin Thicke. Which.. prior to that, Robin had already produced for many R&B artists, Mary J Blige being one of them… Can U Handle It by Usher being another.
Oh, not to cause friction, but John B can sing face off. He paved the way for Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke. When he came out, his voice was on point, real talk.

Why on earth would Tevin Campbell put his voice on this? I did not believe it when ppl were saying it but I finally listened to this horrific song in its entirety and Tevin is too talented for this garbage track.
Yes, he has issues but his voice is out of this world and the best out of his peers. When he was a child, he sand better than Robin, Usher, Tyrese, Trey Songz, etc. all combined.

That was horrible! I hate the beat, and I’m upset because I got excited when I saw they remade it. Completely disappointed. This song is supposed to be sexy. Period. I do actually listen to it quite often smh oh well….
Can’t understand what the big deal is about Robin Thicke – his vocals are nothing special.. I like the original version, there was also a reggae version recorded by a few reggae artiste quite a few years ago which was 10 times better than this.
Uh its Tevin Campbell on this remix as well?
They ruined it. It started off so sexy, but then they ruined it with that dance beat. *Sigh*. Such potential…
I can’t say I love it, but it’s kinda decent. Only, that’s not Robin Thicke singing with Usher…it’s Justin Timberlake.
If you happen to have a Justin Timberlake song on hand, just listen to a bit of it, and then listen to the second verse of this song one after the other. You’ll hear it, I assure you. That is NOT Robin Thicke.
A message to Truth #19:
Quincy Jones did produce this song, most likely way before you were born, which is the only reason you would be stupid enough to say that Jermaine Dupri did it. Hell this song came out BEFORE I was born and singing the original was El Debarge, Barry White, Al B Sure, and Jame Ingram. Look it up. And don’t ever make an asinine comment like that again. Jermaine Dupri….whatever.
Typo..Truth is #10. But you know who you are so…
Two fools who are looking at their careers heading down the drain. Why would they bother trying to remake a classic?!?
@ 73
Babyface and his wife seeked Jon B out because he was that talented. I never said Lost Without you was the first single, I said it was A single. Read correctly! Also, still Mary J does not in no way shape or form compare to Michael Jackson, who Jon B wrote songs for. The artist Jon B wrote for were on a higher caliber period. Robin wrote for a majority of Pop artist like Jordan Knight, Mya, Xtina, Marc Anthony. Now, he may produce for more RNB artist but in the past he did not.
I do not care what you say but that song where he is long haired and bike riding was alternative. It’s not hate, it is the truth that he wears mascara, winds/wines like a female and dresses in the same skin tight black suit.
Jon B was more rugged with it with the RnB bc he was straight up just that. There was no evolution period. Robin was not that talented to be seeked out by any Babyfaces or other producers but Pharrell who just danced/clubbed up his song Love You Girl, which is just talking, and left him alone.
@ #82… Shadow.
LOL IDIOT. Quincy Jones produced the original — we are talking about this version which Jermaine Dupri produced. LOL I swear, please go take your retarded misinformed ass to MTVNEWS.com and READ. At least if you are going to try to make someone look dumb, know wtf you’re talking about. Lord.
@ Toodles..
Jon B wrote one song for Michael Jackson — You Are Not Alone — one of which I personally did not like. Yes, he has written for Toni Braxton as well and a few others, but even then that was somewhat sparse and he has not written for anyone else worth mentioning since the 90′s. I love Jon B — I actually have every one of his albums and think he is a great talent. I also like Robin Thicke, I don’t understand why you must discredit one artist in order to big up another. And the way you wrote it implied that he did not have a “black” single out until Lost Without U. So I read correctly, however, interpreted differently than your intention, obviously. Please write more concisely and concretely. In any case, I do agree that he cannot dress nor dance. Also, I don’t think When I Get You Alone was alternative… alternative is traditionally more rock inspired, and that it was not.
@ Toodles..
^^ Also wanted to add that Jon B’s last album.. Helpless Romantic was good IMO as well. However, since his studio burned in that fire he has struggled to capture the magic he had on his sophomore and junior efforts… Cool Relax & my personal favorite Pleasures U Like. This last one was okay….. But before you hate on Robin Thicke with his hippy long hair… please note that Jon B now has long hair himself — or he did the last time I saw him. Jussaying.
I do, however, agree with you on Tevin Campbell.
Mr Thicke sound out of place in this song, Not heard the original, but I’m sure its better than this
@ TRUTH SERUM
R. KELLY WROTE ” YOU ARE NOT ALONE FOR MJ.
forget ya’ll! this is hot! definitely better than the crap ya’ll listen to nowadays, for sure!
Does anyone know where I might be able to download this song? The link seems to have expired. Thanks!
@89.. Apologies.. meant that he redid the remixes for it.
The Secret Garden…they used to play this song to death back in the day. I would change to the station to listen to something else and it would be on that station too! It was very, very popular
I hate this, the original is MUCH, MUCH, BETTER. SMH!
