Dr. Conrad Murray appeared in court on Monday and was ordered to return June 14 so that a date for a preliminary hearing can be set while the judge determines whether there’s enough evidence for him to stand trial to involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of pop superstar Michael Jackson.
Fans outside the courtroom sang “We are the World” and wore T-shirts with Jackson’s picture as well as the slogan, “Justice for Michael”. Jackson’s family members, including parents Joe and Katherine, and siblings Janet, Jermaine and Randy, attended the hearing (see photos below).
On the June 14th court date (nearly a year after Michael’s death), the judge is expected to determine whether Dr. Murray can continue to practice medicine in the state of California. Murray pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges in February and reports surfaced earlier this week that his defense team would claim Michael killed himself.

He did have the means and opportunity, but those are the lessor characteristics of a criminal profile. This will be a very emotional hearing if it goes to trial. Michael was not a crackhead scoring from the candy man. The man had a bad burn and had to be treated for burns to his scalp. The pain medication is not the same as crack. This man had no reason to want to die and every reason to live. What was he supposed to do? Walk around in pain??! It is ignorant to blame Michael for his death. Elvis died of an overdose and nobody is “blaming” Elvis for his death. The doctor acted irresponsibily and it doesn’t matter that Michael was on drugs or not. Dr. Murray’s negligence killed Michael. There’s no way Michael wanted to die with all he was planning to do. It just doesn’t make sense to keep blaming the victim for his death. Michael would have gotten it anyway??! That may be so, but he did not have to die!

I feel that noone knows the situation with MJ and his addiction, the autopsy report said that MJ was a healthy 50 year old man, he wasn’t underweight, so I’m taking what the scientific evidence points out, and not what hearsay. It’s a fact that MJ had propofal in his system, and the doctor was the last man with MJ, other than that, I have no right to judge MJ or Dr.Murray because I don’t know, and it’s not my place. It is also not my place to say that Murray deserves to go to jail or not, because I wasn’t there. Only God, Dr. Murray and MJ know what happened that night. And for people wishing death on Dr. Murray, and saying that MJ has the mos loyal fans in the world, really should realize what you are saying. People on here are always talking about Christianity, but it’s a sin to wish death or vegeance on any man. No matter what the situation. No matter what happens, this trial is in God’s hands. We reap what we sow, so if Dr. Murray is found not guilty or guilty, God knows and he is the ultimate judge, he gives out punishment , it’s not our responsibility to take action. Why risk your soul to avenge MJ’s death? Would he have risk his soul for any of us? hmm no. I’m a huge MJ fan, but I know that MJ was human just like me, no greater.
In fact I loved it when he was portraying himself to be the perfect person, and displayed his faults. To me he was more likeable.
As far as the trial, I hope it’s not televised, and the media just read the court decision.

People are funny, standing outside of the courthouse with signs and screaming at Conrad Murray, wanting justice for MJ, when MJ was alive did the diehard fans give MJ a chance to live his life, hmm no. Amazing how, when MJ was alive he had to wear disguises, have a huge security detail, have aliances, had to rent out hotel floor just to be left alone. Couldn’t go anywhere without being noticed,had to shield his kids with masks, and then when he dies the same fans who didn’t alone him to live peacefully, or the same people that are crying foul play at Dr. Murray. People don’t think that the obsessive attention , MJ got from his fans didn’t stress him out? Now people want to blame one man, for one day, when MJ had to live his life in a bubble because of his fans that dearly want him, and want justice for him. Wow.

HIS AUTOPSY REPORT. There were NO other drugs in his system aside from what the doctor administered that night. No painkillers. His organs showed none of the damage of a long-term pill or narcotic addiction. In fact, MJ never denied having had an issue with painkiller addiction some years ago, but as far as what he was taking for his INSOMNIA, yes, it was unorthodox, NO, it shouldn’t have been administered outside of a hospital, and YES, Dr. Murray is at fault for displaying GROSS MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE after administering these things in these huge amounts & then not properly monitoring or treating his patient. Botched CPR, lying about the drug amounts & when they were given, phone records showing he delayed in calling 911…. he just did everything wrong, step after step, and regardless of if he had a rich patient who’d asked for something unorthodox, as a licensed medical professional, HE was in the wrong as his sworn oath included: “First, do no harm”. He did huge harm. And he ought to reap consequences for his actions.

Wether MJ’s problem with drugs began with Dr. Conrad or not, the “doctor” and I use that word very loosely in this case, should have known much better than to be administering the powerful drug outside of the operating room. He’s the doctor not Michael. All Conrad (I ‘ll stop saying doctor at this point) was seeing as an employee of Michael’s was huge dollar signs. So I emphatically say yes, he should be held abundanly accountable for his very blatant and selfish role in this because his greed played a huge part in the death on another human being, that being the one and only Michael Jackson.

I Agree with you #27. the autopsy tells the story. Conrad was sloppy and negligent. Case closed. And you know what’s worse about this whole ordeal is that now his defense is going to aggresively argue that Michael killed himself by injecting himself with more of the drug after Conrad gave him the initial injection. He’s needs quite a few years in prison to think about what he’s done after his illegal use of this drug outside of a hospital operating room. Even if he goes to prison, he’ll still be able to beathe, eat, and sleep. Michael can no longer do any of those things. There’s a thought.
I’m so torn here…this man definitely has a responsibility to honor his oath and do no harm to any patient but at some point a junkie has to be responsible for his actions also. If you keep taking drugs, your body will eventually give out and it is ultimately that individuals responsiblity to get help.
I’m sick of people saying MJ was the cause of his own death, because he wasn’t. yea he wanted the drug but that didn’t mean that the doctor had to give it to him, all the doctor was after was the money. On top of that the doctor wasn’t licensed and the drugs that he gave MJ were suppose to be used in the hospital. Paramedics were also saying that MJ still had an pulse and if the doctor would have called for help in the first place instead of trying to cover up they could have saved him.
