Dr. Conrad Murray is set to appear in court on Monday for a preliminary hearing after pleading not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of Michael Jackson.
But, according to TMZ, his defense team claims that the pop superstar gave himself the fatal dose of the powerful anesthetic Propofol. Check out the defense’s argument below.
- At around 10:50 AM, Dr. Murray gave Jackson 25 mg of Propofol from a 20 ml bottle — that’s only about 1/8 of the bottle.
- The dose Dr. Murray administered would keep someone asleep for only 5 to 10 minutes, But the Propofol, along with the Ativan and Versed that was already in MJ’s system, had a synergistic effect that put Jackson to sleep for a longer period of time.
- For the next hour, Dr. Murray stayed in the room and was on the phone for much of the time. Dr. Murray didn’t leave the room to make the calls because MJ liked activity in the room, regularly sleeping with the lights on and cartoons blaring on the TV.
- At around noon, Dr. Murray left the room for approximately two minutes to go to the bathroom. While he was gone, the defense believes Jackson suddenly awakened and was frustrated he had spent nearly 9 hours trying in vain to sleep. The defense theory — Jackson took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol and self-injected the remaining contents through the IV, causing a massive overdose that stopped his heart.
- Dr. Murray walked back in the room and saw Jackson with his eyes open and pupils dilated. Dr. Murray dropped the phone (he was speaking with his girlfriend) and began administering CPR.
The defense will also argue that Jackson was a Propofol addict. According to one source, Jackson liked the sensation of Propofol being administered by IV, adding, “Michael liked to push it.”

Its true these celebrities make the choice to get on drugs but these doctors need to learn no 1 is that important to lose your license for after you studied all those years to receive your license & credentials you’re going to risk it because this person is a celebrity? It gives the doctors who are really out there doing their job a bad rep its a shame this man & his team are going this route though what’s sad is that this is not the last time we will hear of a celebrity overdosing on these drugs administered by a doctor

I don’t believe this. A story like this will not work at this time Murray, you are just digging the hole deeper and deeper. Yes, MJ had a problem and an addiction, but despite reports of him having doubts about the show and rigorous sleep problems, I don’t believe he wanted to desert the fans who made him, and especially his beloved children. The most reasonable/likely scenario was the little bit of propofol that he “proclaimed” he gave him, combined with the two other drugs that he had already taken just clashed. Just like aspirin or cold medicine, I don’t believe you are supposed to take all of those drugs within a short timespan, something that I don’t quite understand why Murray didn’t think of. And he was probably out of that room longer than a measly 2 minutes, arguing about child support issues. You failed as a doctor Murray, there is no way around that.

That is some straight BS! I was on propofol for surgery last summer and when I woke up, I was damn near incapable of moving. I was like a zombie and freaking slept for THE WHOLE DAY! It’s insane to me that anyone would even consider this story having some sort of plausibility with something as big as this especially with all the SHADINESS going on on Murray’s end. Why is he just now, almost a year after the fact, making these claims? He makes no sense! He needs to just admit that he messed up and accept the consequences.

I’m not a lawyer but the thing about the suicide or accidental suicidie doesn’t add up because, wouldn’t MJ prints be on the button (I.V.).
There were reports that MJ would have suicide notes on him while he travel, the defense could say that MJ had a history of depression and thus wanting to kill h imself.
The defense will most likely call in Dr. Chopra , MJ’s longtime friend who publicly dated that MJ had issues, would had issues, thus leading to his depression, which led to him killing himself.
The defense could also call Chopra’s son, LMP, Malniks, others who said that he was depressed and had issues.
And to add icing on the cake, they will ultimately have to put Joe Jackson on the stand and shred him to pieces , since MJ ihad stated numerous times on record that his problems basically started because of his childhood and the Pepsi commercial.
I’m not condoning what the doctor did or alleged what happen, but the defense has a strong case with so many possibilities. And the defense will ultimately shred MJ and his family apart, just wait and see. I feel sorry for Joe and Katherine, because if I was a defense attorney and my client’s life was on the line, they would be the two people I would destroy on the witness stand, because it’s public knowledge the issues MJ had, which can be traced back to his childhood.
Then, after the trial, if my client is found not guilty, his lawyers will file a suit against the Jackson family. And defense team would, that’s why the Jacksons should keep their mouths shut. Because just it’s easy to destroy their credibility.
I hope the prosecution also charge the plastic surgeons, other doctors who enabled MJ ,knowing that he didn’t need the plastic surgeries or the other medications.
The family really should stop blaming Dr. Murray. He was the last person to see MJ alive and he was his doctor, but the Jacksons are also in the wrong. Ok, why would you continue to be supported by MJ if you knew he was an addict, and he was having financial troubles? And why didn’t anyone step in and get the chidren out of the home, for their own safety? even if that meant calling Protecion services. As an MJ fan, I cannot disregard the fact that MJ was a GROWN man making the decision to pollute his body and risk his life by doing these drugs. But, there are a few things that must be considered:
1. MJ was not the doctor. He did not take an oath professing to never hurt anyone. It sickens me that these doctors, who are supposed to heal and help, are capitalizing on people’s addictions by selling them drugs and leading to their death.
2. How is it that the moment you left the room, MJ woke up and self injected? If MJ felt comfortable self medicating, what the hell did he need Murray for?
3. I don’t believe for one minute that the “murder” was intentional; why would a man making six figures bite the hand that fed him, and ruin his life in the process? I also don’t believe that MJ committed suicide; a tour, clothing line, new album, and a family to look forward to? MJ lived to entertain, and I don’t see him going out like that purposefully. I think it was an unfortunate accident that should teach people a lesson: if it can happen to a huge megastar like MJ, nobody is immune.
what if this is true? what if micheal jackson was addicted to a new anesthetic we have just heard of as the general public. what if other revelations come up as a result of all of this? things the media will tell us, force us to see about Micheal and then train us to condemn them. what will we then think of micheal or the weird and wonderful things that the stars do that are so much like us.
