If this was a musical and we had time to further examine this character, I’d get it. Telephone was extended by like 3 minutes to convey a message so maybe she should’ve used taken more time (?). But we understood Russian Roulette because we knew what was going on in Rihanna’s life. ‘Papa don’t preach’ told a story of pro-choice (not teen pregnancy) for women. If you put a serious issue to light, sing it with conviction, not unabashed joy. If you can’t do that, at least give your character dimension in the video where visual and song are easiest understood. This excuse is like saying Donna Summers’ Love to Love You’ is actually about world peace and loving your fellow man. Come out with another, better video please.
