The album, which contains social commentary on the U.S. and Africa, is derived from their close friendship, their shared African ancestry and the shared ancestry of the human race. Marley further explained, “We’re trying to have a sound that’s reminiscent of both of us, but not exactly like either. A lot of charity albums come off corny. We want this to be something you’d play in your car.”
Distant Relatives hits stores May 18.

From what I have heard this album is an absolute masterpiece. I’m proud of these guys for coming through with great, inspirational music that is not influenced by the radio & today’s musical climate. I can’t wait to pick this one up on May 18th.

I havent had a chance to listen to the album, but I feel I should like it. I’m all for conscious rap, because the tunes out today are taking us all down an strange path. (i.,e., look like jesus – - dont waste your time looking it up)

“Tribes At War,” “Leaders,” “Friends,” “Dispear,” “Land of Promise,” “Nah Mean” and “My Generation” stand out to me the most .. they sound pretty good.
“In His Words” sounds like it could be good .. need to hear more though.

@APRIL…Nas has a strong fan base and has 9 out of 10 platinum albums and “Untitlted” which was released in 2008 is his only gold album! It is on its way to platinum as well! Your generation might not know good music but there are several generations of Nas’ fans that do! I think your generation does know good music because you seem to know what is good! Please support this album y’all, this may not be shit to shake your ass to in a club somewhere but if thats the only time you listen to music then you need help. This is vibing music, music that makes you think, music that inspires to make you want to do better in life, music to to chill to. REAL music thats not watered down or geared towards radio success, which is exactly what these brothers have been known to do. Nas is the greatest of all time and I can’t wait to buy several copies of this piece of art next Tuesday May 18th!
