There was a pretty big scare online earlier, where Twitter went ablaze with a supposed link to Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later. I have to admit, I was a little concerned when I saw that. It would be a shame if his album leaked a month before it’s release on June 15th. But it was just a flurry on tracks put together, including “July,” featuring former T.U.G. artist, Jhene.
Alicia Keys – Rapture (full) – listen
Check out Alicia Keys’s offering from the Sex & the City 2 original motion picture soundtrack, sampling the theme from the original television show. The huge hit “Empire State of Mind,” with Jay-Z is also featured on the soundtrack. I was a little through off at first, considering that the sound is very different from her latest album, The Element of Freedom, which is in stores now. Alicia released a video for her latest single, “Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready)” and is prepping to release the Beyonce-assisted “Put It In Love Song” later this summer.

More music is leaking from The Dream, from his forthcoming third studio album, Love King, who’s first single of the same title is finally picking up steam. “Champagne” isn’t too far off from any of the other material that The Dream has offered up from this new album, which is slated to hit stores June 22nd.
Mariah Carey – Imperfect (full) – listen
Off the heels of her latest album, Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel, here’s an unreleased track from the studio sessions with The Dream and Tricky Stewart. Considering the song’s straight to the point title, was this possibly going to the title track from Mariah’s last album (who’s remix/duet album was apparently shelved)? The are rumors swarming that Mariah has already begun prepping a follow-up album, with a single to drop some time this year.

Mariah – she has such a great singing voice that she brought it with this jam and made it groovy. Nice.

The Drake song is alright. However, I’m doubting that it’s actually Drake… some parts sound like Drake, most of the rapping sounds much lower than Drake’s tone, but his rapping style…. I’m thinking it’s a cover, but it’s download worthy. I can def see it as a summer love anthem

The Alicia song is a remake of Blondie’s same song Rapture. If u look up Blondie on youtube u can hear the song and see the video, she raps in it as well. Alicia’s version is close to the original, of course with a different rap. Nice cover for Ms. Keys.

july is jhene’s track, people should listen to the original, great lyrics, great beat, she has a pretty voice, of course she isnt the greatest singer in the world but some of her songs are quite appealing and mesmerizing. (check out wait no more and feel like a man, trust you’ll like them) i appreciate drake for recognizing this, he has a number of old songs that he remixed by great unappreciated artisits i.e. slum village, he is open minded in his music and that shows his range.
The Drake and Jhene track was wack. I think Drake lost his hype already and Jhene couldn’t sing to save her life. Just because someone has a “pretty” tone, doesn’t mean that he is she can actually sing well. Whispering the whole time is nothing.
I like the melodies in Mariah’s “Imperfect” track. It sounds a bit generic though.
