As a California Gurl myself, I wish the video would have been about Cali. I would have loved to see her dippin through Hollywood, Sunset Blvd, hitting the beaches, and really just showing some Cali girl swag. The Candy Land concept was cute, but she should have saved it for another song.

The reason why the song was allegedly about “California” and the “West Coast” but the video had nothing to do with the song is because the song is written in “helter skelter” (witch speak). I really like the song but this video should’ve been done for another song. She probably didn’t want to go the typical route but that would’ve been best for a song about California girls. That’s like Jay-Z doing some random video for “Empire State of Mind” .. the fact that he showed New York made the video “better” ..
