I’m witcha on calling them tbs shows corny because “are we there yet?” is awful. I can’t believe Ice put his name on that one. I keep watching it hoping it will get better but it’s not there yet! I guess he said if TP can do it, so can he. I do like Terry Crews though.

I must admit that “meet the browns” has grown on me. I try not to miss an episode! lol! I like the old school references Brown always makes that only a black, old schooler, like me, would get [gazes up reflecting on the past].

It baffles me how insecure a lot of you black women appear. What is wrong with a black man dating a white/light skinned woman? Does seeing that make you feel unloved, and hopeless? Do you feel less of a woman? Unwanted? Not needed? Well, this is what it seems like to me when I read a lot of these comments on the blogs. I’m a black woman and I personally DO NOT care. If he loves a white, green, blue, or red woman that is HIS BUSINESS. I know what I love and I know who loves me. I, personally, tend to have an eye for white men. My last boyfriend was white and the gentleman I’m seein now is Turkish. But if you read some of my previous comments on CL you’d know that I LOVE black men as well – all races really. At the end of the day, we can’t let the media determine our worth. It starts from within yourself.

I have to agree, “Are we there yet?” is NOT funny! I want to support it because of I love Terry Crews and I think he’s hilarious, but the comedy moments are few and far between. There shouldn’t be one hilarious line per episode. And could they have picked a better woman to play his wife? Essence Atkins, or whatever her name is, is boring as hell…….they need someone more comical like Tisha Campbell-Martin, someone that is also a comedienne and can hold her own.

I love this couple; I’m a young woman and I hope to one day have a marriage as strong and full of love as theirs!

Most people who talk percentages never read the books that actually did the surveys. Most people who talk about what others are doing clearly do not have enough going on in their lives. Most people who are quick to get mad when something slightly racist happens to them are the same ones who talk this “black love” ish. We should be talking about loving each other regardless of race/gender/creed. To be real, WOMEN of all races have been victims of inequalities longer than any MAN. Why can’t women stand up for women? What kills me even more is when people say hateful and separatist comments and then start to talk about their relationship with GOD?? I hope my daughters are raised to see things differently than some of you on this site. Do onto others… fools.

Let’s not pretend that racism is gone and that marriages are color-blind. Internalized racism exists and it’s the driving force beyond “good hair/bad hair” and lightskinned/darksinned debates. So when black women/men bring it up it’s less insecurity and more simply fact. It clearly ALSO comes in interracial relationships.

For Ms.ignoranceisbliss, WE BLACKS talk about color and race because we are honest with ourselves about how these factors influence dating/marriage decisions. Black love is political … it’s saying despite how the media tries to portray black women/men as less,how it tries to say we don’t support each other, “I love myself and people like me. We are beautiful and worthy beings.” Once ponder that you may begin to see why we appreciate “black love”. Indeed, ignorance must be bliss for you to never have thought about that.

Say what you wanna, but I am happy to see a lasting African-American love is vibrant and apparently stable. Even if she was white (which she’s not), I don’t know of any gold-diggers that make it to the 20 year mark, so be gone with that nonsense. Who was he 20 years ago, not the paid person we see today, and she would have had to have some strong ass ESP to predict his success. He’s an actor not a ball player. I was there and took pictures with them. Two of the coolest people you ever want to meet. For a moment, I thought these were the photos my boyfriend took of them. He was the offical photographer of the after parties.

I like them a lot! Their entire family seems like good, decent people. I love seeing this image of a black family on TV.
But people really need to get over this feeling they get when they see a black man with a woman who happens to not be black. And you have to realize you are only looking at through your perspectve. You don’t know these people personally, this “wealthy black man” could be an ass, so would you want to be with him anyways? Don’t be so worried about what the next person is doing. Do something for you and find your ideal man, black, white, latino… whatever, worry about yourself. You decide your level of happiness.
