Ja Rule is prepping the follow-up album to last year’s Mirror.
Here’s the first single from his upcoming album, The Renaissance Project, “Man Is Down.”
Originally, the album was titled after his debut album, Venni Vetti Vecci 2010, but as he got closer to finishing the project, the title changed.
The Renaissance Project is set to hit stores at the end of 2010.

I mean no matter what people have said about JaRule in the past, the dude knew how to make a hit back in the day… and if he can somehow reinvent that formula on this new album, I am sure he could have hits again.

Ja Rule is over and has been for a long time. Lets be honest, 50 cent ruined his career! He did have some hot a** songs back in the day! I wasn’t too keen on his explicit lyrics, like many rappers have, but the beats were hot and his songs were catchy. He was unique and consistent until 50 came along and then Irv’s dumba** got caught up in some illegal sh** with Murder Inc Records. He will never make a comeback, nobody is checking for him. This song is iight. It’s kinda hot, but not that hot. It sounds like Swizz Beatz produced it.
Ja! go back to the formula you were using! Sure you’re not with Murder Inc anymore but still! You had hit after hit back in the day! Yeah 50 cent murdered you but 50 is over now, you may have a chance if you stop tryna be hard with these types of songs and the songs you had on Mirror. Go back to songs like ” Put it on me” ” bad ass chick”, ” I cry”, ” Always on time” etc.

I think he is set to catapult back onto the scene. He’s one of the few rappers that fell off but would be welcome back. We just have to LOVE what he’s doing. Unfortunately this song won’t do it.. he needs a radio hit. I’m curious as to why he chose Man Is Down to be his first single off the album. Hopefully it isn’t because he thinks it’s the best track off the album, hopefully it’s just a tease.
Now the wild card is this.. if he could be featured on a radio hit again on somebody else’s album, THAT’S where he could snake back up the charts. Let’s see it. I’m rooting for him. Who doesn’t like Ja Rule? Cmon.. Guy’s a classic. And to be honest, I’m getting SICK of what’s on the radio.. Kanye, Eminem, Drake, Jay-Z, Kanye, Jay-Z, P-Diddy, Drake, shit gets OLD!
