Check out the new video from Lyfe Jennings for his educational new song, “Statistics.” The song was reportedly inspired by Steve Harvey’s relationship advice book, “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man,” and lists the difficulties that Black women face when looking for a man.
You can also peep his brand new album cover for “I Still Believe”, below, which will hit stores on August 31st.

Alright Lyfe this is your last shot. Go BIG or your career is gone.
Loving the positive, inspirational message and the video’s really good too!

Statistics huh? Too bad these blk women wnt listen to any of the info. in this damn song! Oh well, And what did he mean he when said 20% all of men have a complex?
Yeah, f**ks HARD wit dis song!! I read Steve Harvey’s book and yo, it’s pretty damn good, ladies. You can never beat when a DUDE tries to kick da knowledge. Only a MAN can tell you ’bout MEN! Dat’s how I know so much ’bout ‘em, hung ’round nuthin but men most my life and dey schooled da hell out me.
Love the art work on the new cover. Also I believe Statistics doesn’t just list the difficulties black woman face when trying to find a man….it’s just the DIFFICULTIES with any woman when trying to find a man!! But I do LOVE the new song!!
I LOVE IT!!!
Very nice song…LYFE!
I love the cover art and I like the art of the mind, so to speak. Nice conscious effort.
LOVE ,LOVE,LOVE, LOVE
KEEPING IT REAL .
well damn are the statistics real?
GREAT SONG!!
I understand the concept however lyfe does not fully translate the message I hope he has in mind successfully. Lyfes “rules”, the continuous “don’t be a booty call” etc merely blames women for the abuse they have experience by men (r.e. beginning of video.) I personally would much rather a song that says don’t beat on your woman or take advantage of vulnerable women…this is an example of the dominant male misusing women and then manipulating them to believe they are the only one wrong in the situation. I agree that women must respect themselves in order to gain respect and have a healthy relationship, but men you gotta step it up too. All women’s actions must be accounted for, I do not want to believe that lyfe directed the song to black women-instructing them on how to keep a man …i mean boy, by the way some of you act…if this was his intentions the song is degrading not empowering.
The song does have substance, I agree “tell him that your celibate” and “be the person you wanna find”, however my issue is that there is always another side that must also take full responsibility.
I support Lyfe Jennings musical ability and generally enjoy his music; however, I felt I should address my concerns.
@ Bee
So you don’t want SPECIFICS on how to avoid becoming a “statistic”. Because obviously being broad and generals isn’t working for the over half of American Black Women.
And I think domestic violence is an extreme case type situation that most failed relationships don’t endure. It’s an exceptional experience.
I wish he would’ve have put in this song “learn how to watch your mouth, promiscuity will never be okay, learn how to spot a productive, honorable man with potential BEFORE he starts making dough..and then STICK by him”.
And last but no least, if something fails..don’t become bitter, or discouraged. Even if what you’ve built for a decade gets tore down in a day. Dust yourself off and build anyway.
And why is it when black men list the shortcomings of women in relationships, one of the first things to be said is “there’s two sides to every story”? Man that’s a given that shouldn’t have to be stated.
Women make a career out of pointing the finger at others instead of standing in the mirror and looking past that exterior reflection into the flaws within their own character.
My guess is that this song will get NO burn. It’s necessary but women don’t want to hear it! Because by and large you don’t want to be held responsible for why you can’t spot good men, don’t qualify for good men, aren’t attracted to good men, and ultimately never learn how to KEEP good men.
Your vagina doesn’t validate you.
good work life…..i hope ppl pay attention……so true!
i meant lyfe^^
I LOOOOOOOOVE it!!!!! This song is all that. Something different with a real message. LOL @ the person thinking he can explain all the worlds problems in a 4 minute song. He got his point across and the rules were on point. Good song, good video..now to get this played on the radios and major music cable channels..
Why do black woman look towards black men for explanations on why and how to keep a man? It’s like the blind leading the blind. Men don’t know what the hell they want, in relationships nor in women. I’m so sick of the media and black men, blaming black women for everything! Geez! I guess it’s impossible that maybe the problem is black man, I mean, God forbid….
Hey CL, can someone pleeeeeeeeaaaase post Ciara’s fanta commercial???
anit playin the the uk tho.
this video blazes, love you Lyfe, xoxo
Lmao, this negro should’ve listed the statistics of R&B singers that wave guns at their childrens’ mother and get into car chases. Male feminism is new age pimp talk. That is all it is. Whenever a so-called straight male acts as if he’s going to go out of his way to put women onto something, he is trying to hustle them. Smh, males like “Lyfe” and Steve Harvey are pimping the insecurities and mental issues that they know black women have. The issue is that the black man spends too much time trying to cater to the sensitivities and sensibilities of females as opposed to improving himself. No men of any other race have to “bargain” with or “convince” their women because they carry on their culture and history; which means that the men of that race know their place, which means that the women know their place, which means that the children are raised in order and carry on the traditions of their people.
@BOTTOMLINE
The funny thing is that many will think that he is “droppin’ it” in a song like this, which is meant to foster the black female superiority agenda which is one of the things that is destroying the black community. The fact of the matter is that in “Western” (caucasian) society, women are taught not only that their vagina validates them but that they should be worshiped because of it. To make a long story short, cats know that black women buy books and albums, especially stupid books and albums. Black men don’t, so the woman is who is to be catered to.
Wow. I like the video and song. Yes, Lyfe can be preachy and borderline corny but at least he’s using his voice to say something that MEANS something. I think this is good for young impressionable listeners, but I doubt they’ll hear it much.
I have had to change some of my ways in regards to dating and my outlook and love life hand improved drastically!! I didn’t read Steve Harvey’s book either. I just stopped accepting anything otther than gentlemanly behavior and I started trusting my instincts, simple as that. It’s soooo easy to blame a man for treating you bad when you allow it. And guess what, hearbreak and deception don’t discriminate. We all, as humans, go through it. Ya’ll don’t see these match dot com and ehamony and all these websites full of non-Black people looking for love?! Why are we always doing the “poor me” thing as if we are the only ones suffering… ever. C’mon now.
I have met quite a few Black men who have issues with committment but I have the power to choose. I can do all the “right” things as a woman and still get hurt in the end. But, the journey is what makes life great. Ladies, choose your mates wisely. Sex is wonderful but it’s not everything. Make a spiritual and emotional connection with a man rather than a purely sexual one and he will respect you forever, whether you end up together or not. Men may be ruled by their crown jewels most of the time but we all know they are not THAT shallow when it comes to their HEARTS. When they are ready to grow up and settle down with a real women they will. Be that REAL woman a man wants to settle down with. And if you have imperfections, so what, keep them! Because there is someone out there who will love you for all your faults and help you grow.
THANK YOU LYFE-FOR KEEPING IT TRUE, YOU GIVE & EXPRESS YOUR GIFES FOR GROWTH (LIFE). BE IT WE ARE CURRENTLY IN A RELATIONSHIP SUCH AS THIS OR WE HAVE PASSED THROUGH THE JOURNEY- TRUTH SETS US FREE TO BETTER UNDERSTAND RELATIONSHIPS. NEVER STOP HOPING AND BELIEVING TRUE LOVE EXSIST.
thank gawd he cut his facial hair…
FIRST off steve harvey was married like FOUR TIMES and u listen to him? who do u listen to about leading a legal life a 3 time fellon or a person whos never been arrested.
SECOND this songs just speaks about how stupid and weak minded a “certain” type of woman can be. keep goin for the roughneck or paid dude and this is what u get . a guy knows when hes dating a stripper thus knows what strippers are about. women think their thug can be a rocket scientist one day hahahahahah
THIRD the stats are all wrong seeing how they are directed at the black race but if u threw in a small variable such as including THE REST OF THE PLANET u might get different results. However these stats are faulty anyway as being the findings of 2 dropouts one of which is a fellon.
FOURTH I believe that danny devito is the finest thespian of our time….that is all

Like it, LOVE it, and wanna do my best to live it!!
I agree with #14
I also agree partly with #15, i know a couple of radio stations in NYC won’t be playing this song much or at all, sadly it won’t fit in well with their daily roster of disrespectful, trashy, sex everything moving “music” . . . . . . . .
I also agree with Judah’s comment – men knowing their place and doing what they are supposed to sets the tone for everyone else
. . . . . . . . . . . .How conflicted do I sound, lol
OK so this is the same man that ran his baby mama down the street with a gun! lol
I like the song. I believe it is a good tool for young girls who don’t know what to go by to find and hold a healthy relationship. No one is squeaky clean (lyfe), but it doesn’t mean they can’t give a hand up to someone esle.
Stay positive
I WILL NOT SUPPORT THIS MANS CAREER!! HE DOESNT EVEN SUPPORT HIS OWN DAMN KIDS!!!!!
EPIC FAIL!!!
i think jennings is a lame. this songs pits men vs women and is overall unhealthy. imo women are to be worshipped but thats only if they behave like godesses and not bitches.
Absolutely love this song! I’m so feelin Lyfe right now!
@20.
Don’t nobody care about no damn Ciara. I’m just glad Angel is showcasing someone with real talent.
Nice positive song. Too bad the girls who need to hear this are in the mirror practicing their “Ride” moves that Ciara taught them so they can end up a statistic :\
I could never handle his Voice….. sorry…
what he is saying is common sense. come on now “don’t be a booty call” isn’t exactly profound dating knowledge.
my experience is that men want more then they are willing to give. society has taught brothers that their value is in their wallet. so they feel if they aren’t “paid” they don’t have anything to offer.
i’ll take a brother with spiritual and family values over a money making, cheating @sshole anyday!
..on a side note, don’t be a nickel looking for a dime is extremely funny!

Are you people serious?! It’s a song . . .he has three times to entertain you with his vocals and if he has half of a message in that three minutes to enlighten a few people then OMG so be it. You people over analyze everything. I hope none of you live in glass houses because I’d hate to see you exposed in your short comings!!!

dis a nice record… honestly i du feel like us men, especially us black men (bein thet im a black man) can treat our QUEENS a lot better than we du… & notice i said “QUEENS” & not tha go hard gurl thet give it up to every n.igga she meet… tha problem iz we have so many queens out there but bcuz n.iggaz wanna hard wit da boyz or feel like they have to go along wit tha crowds (followers) than to be themselves so we end up doggin out our queens not realizin we got a BAD AZZ QUEEN by our side “NO MATTER WUT” but when we decide to wise up sometimes its too late… now im not talkin bout all my brothas just tha onez thetz grown as fuk still actin like lil boyz, cum on now man we grown lets act like it…
I’m new to this so bare with me. I see a lot of people on here complaining about Lyfe’s stats. If there’s something you don’t understand or if you feel his stats are general or too broad..take your ass to school or read a damn book. This man is inspirational and talks about real life situations. His stats might not be accurate, but these things happen and it’s taking a toll on people (men & women).
BLK WOMEN R SO DAMN BITTER THE MAN IS JUS TELLIN YU THINGS TU AVOID 4RM BEIN JUS A ONE NITE STAND OR SUMTHIN! THEN WHEN A MAN TRYS TU HELP YU YLL POINTIN THE FINGER BAC AT HIM! DAMN I HATE TU SAY IT BUT THATS WAT WRONG WITH BLACK WOMEN THESE DAYS YALL ALWAYS POINTIN DA FINGER AT SUMBODYELSE! STAY SINGLE THEN YU WONT HAV THIS PROBLEM!
Cain’t no nickel sing about what it takes to attract a dime. Wanna impress somebody brother Lyfe? How bout some honesty about how U livin’ in your songs, instead of a well-meaning but preachy song with junk statistics. Black people need to acknowledge the still-damaging effects of slavery, jim crow and the prison industrial complex (modern day slavery) on our collective well-being, and learn how to communicate with each other better. Which is not to be confused with Judah’s “black female superiority agenda” or any other ignorant pseudo-advice
It doesn’t matter how many times a person is married to know how men operate, which was the point of Steve’s book and Lyfe’s song. Some of you women who tout this feminist stance will NEVER find a man, and I mean NEVER. It’s one thing to be independent it’s another to try and prove this by emasculating a man, which then only signals to me that you’re not as independent as you’d like to think; you emasculate ANY man and he’s out the door, after all why does he need to stay with someone who doesn’t NEED him? hell I wouldn’t want to either.
Third, WOMEN HAVE LOWERED THEIR STANDARDS. What you don’t get ladies is that WE have the power, got it! WE HAVE IT, a man will rise to your standards, and if you’ve set your standards too low, he ain’t going no higher than what you’ve set for yourself, that means he’ll either take advantage of you or move on to someone who has what he’s looking for, that’s that 10% Lyfe is talking about. STOP trying to be what YOU THINK men are looking for and just be YOURSELF. Being yourself is much more attractive to a man, consistency is sexy and any man will tell you that.
Have some respect and quit going around putting ill conducive pictures and photos on facebook and myspace and in that same breath demanding the royal treatment from a man or demanding respect. If you want respect you need to present yourself as if you have some for yourself.
DAMN HE FINE
I love it….it seem like in 2010 LOVE and doesn’t existent anymore….its all about getting paid, pussy and weed
Thanks Lyfe Jennings for putting it all out there
Saw him today at the Philly music festival. He’s a brilliant Artist. Best Wishes on the new Album!
