The much talked about new single from Usher finally makes it way to the web.
The Jay-Z-assisted “Hot Tottie,” produced by Polow Da Don and written by Ester Dean, is the second offering from Usher’s forthcoming EP, Versus.
Versus, which will also be available as a deluxe CD with the rerelease of Usher’s latest album, Raymond v. Raymond, will be available in stores and online August 24th.
I would love to hear Brandy singing Ester Dean’s parts.
I’ll have to wait to hear how Ciara’s tone will mix with this song. But I really like it.
I like the beat and vocal arrangement, but I can’t appreciate the lyrics. Usher constantly overstates his sexuality, and more now than ever Jay-Z is making an effort to imply that he should be revered and adored more than Jesus Christ. I’ll let God have the final word on that. It’s nothing to play with.

Great production by Palo da Don. I at first thought this was a Timbaland track but this is a good club banger. Much credit to Ester Dean and that Interscope movement…I was waiting for her to get her credit for “Drop it Low” and be able to get into main stream. She is definitely a good writer…Writing is how you make your money in the music industry anyways. Being an artist just means that you get to promote yourself and songs but does not guarantee that everyone will love your songs(hence record sales and or itunes singles).
In this music climate of downloading and torrent sharing, Usher and Jay are making sure they put out all the music they can via itunes and make sure they get a percentage of the royalties. Smart business strategy. Also, the music industry is always changing so they must keep up with the changes to continue longevity in the industry.
However, I do not like Jay’s analogy to God. It is a form of blastphemy to the One who created jay-z and gave him the chance to stand up and rap. Jay-Z will be judged one day so he better live it up while he can.
Just my opinion.
