Kelis always look like she stink. Cute face though. One of her songs is on a commercial I believe (I’m actually most positive it’s her singing) no one has a voice like hers. Her best songs are: Out there, Milkshake, Bossy. Other than that her sh- – is WHACK. Every CD I bought of hers I resold them to CD stores that buy CD’s, I record the ones I like then out they go. I bought Kelis’ album becuz I love her music, but mostly because I believe in showing support to ppl who aren’t asking for hand outs. She has been through a lot with her cheating ex-husband (whose music Im a fan of also) and record label politics. I take my hat off to Kelis for still being in the mainstream with little to no marketing. Kelis could’ve just collected her alimony checks and disappeared, but she didn’t leave her fans hanging and she still out there grinding with her music and keeping her head held high. She didn’t pull a Lauren Hill on us by dropping off the face of the earth becuz of personal issues(which I can understand either way, but im just saying). She’s an example of the single mother that many of us were raised by so stop acting like she supposed to let a dude walk over her and leave her dead broke with a child to feed. You didn’t want ur mother to go thru that and neither should she. Fortunately, her ex-husband is rich unlike ur poor deadbeat ass daddies.
In the meantime, Kelis is living and making her dreams a reality despite going to hell and back. Maybe one day when the whole world got their foot on ur neck, the man/woman u loved broke ur heart, and your career is on life support bc of politics, and you’re months away from having a child to feed…then maybe you will eat every fucking word you spoke about someone who don’t even know that u exist. Kelis’ career was on life support before she met Nas and during her time with him and it’s on life support now. You can’t collect lifetime alimony checks when you haven’t been married long enough to do so. Kelis had no choice but to maintain her mediocre career because Nas’ money is no longer accessible for her to excessively shop and buy expensive gifts for her friends and family with. And for the record Kelis has been in the industry for 11 years and if she was not smart with her money for all these years of touring and making music…it is not Nas’ responsibility to maintain her with a lifestyle she never had before him. The fact that Kelis was DEAD BROKE is her problem because she toured, collaborated with other artists and had two hits with Tasty and KWH during her relationship with Nas. Her irresponsibility with her money is her stupidity and she actually thought that Nas had to keep her covered in fur coats….PLEASE! Kelis presents to be very pretentious and regardless of what happened between her and Nas any woman who possesses the BOSSY attitude of Kelis should have had some money put away for a rainy day and medical insurance for herself before her pregnancy, during and after. I respect all mother’s single or not but in this day in age women are much more independent and more prepared in life than Kelis presented herself to be during her divorce. Unfortunately, they divorced for whatever reasons but Kelis has to take responsibility for her lack of financial security for herself. Some think she’s pretty, I think Kelis is unattractive (not ugly)
this past March I went to see Kelis perform at Sanots Party House in NYC and the opening act, Maluca, went on at 9pm (if believe). Kelis did not go on til 2 & half hours later. Mind you this is a Tuesday night (people have work on the AM…hello!). All the wait was dragged on by a DJ who played the same sounding records over and over. Is that was hell actually feels like..so I heard. So then all the drama and delays seemed to have the damn microphone that illuminated into different colors (so gay…and I am gay…pun intended) and then this torn mesh screen was put on stage for a projection of some footage from the ACCAPELLA video. it was useless for all these prop because it was just used for less than 5 min. all Kelis does is stand there like a talking mannequin. I was bored with show. Her new album sounds like she’s been getting tweeked out with a bunch of gay who do all kinds of drugs cause that is tweeker music. The best part of the show was the encore in which she did the original version of “GET ALONG WITH YOU” along with an oufit change. Nonetheless I have no desire to ever see or invest in seeing Kelis again. She has a reputation for being late and honestly boring. I hope the next album is not a tweeker record. However, I will say the lyrics in her song are always great and intriguing. However, get off the white horse Kelis and show up to your shows early, perform at a reasonable (not like you did Splash NYC last Wednesday @ 3am), and i’m sorry Nas ain’t paying child support.
