Nearly a year ago, 24-year-old Mitrice Richardson vanished after being released from police custody following her arrest at a Malibu restaurant. On Monday, park rangers checking for marijuana plants found the remains of the honor student and beauty queen in a remote area of Malibu Canyon with no sign of foul play.
Following a news conference from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Mitrice’s father, Michael Richardson, said he was holding sheriff’s deputies responsible for his daughter’s death, either because of negligence or criminal intent.
“Why can’t I speculate? Maybe the sheriff had something to do with it,” Richardson told reporters. “Based on my daughter’s mental condition that night, she wasn’t able to fend for herself. Mel Gibson gets driven to his car, and Charlie Sheen gets taken to his house.”
Her father also called for a law to prevent this from happening to someone else: “I guarantee you the Mitrice Richardson law will say no one — man, woman or child — will be released in Malibu for some predator that wears a five-star badge to attack or do whatever they want,” he said. Continue
