Aaliyah’s spirit still runs through her music. An angel was definitely born on 8/25/01.

  5. lady

  6. Jessica

I always think about Aaliyah all the time and she really left her mark in R&B, it makes me so sad that she was gone the way that she did, but we gain an angel. Remember, SHE CAN “ROCK OUR BOAT”, SHE CAN SAY” IF YOUR GIRL ONLY KNEW”, WHAT WAS GOING ON, SHE CAN BE YOUR “CHOOSEY LOVER”, SHE CAN MAKE YOU BOUNCE AND “TRY AGAIN”, ALWAYS HAVE THE “LADIES IN THE HOUSE” IN A CLUB, SHE CAN MAKE YOU “BACK AND FORTH” AND WILL ALWAYS “MISS YOU” BABYGIRL R.I.P. AALIYAH 1979-2001.

  7. Key-Key

It’s still heartbreaking. She was so young, beautiful, and talented. It’s so sad to know some details of tht day. The fact she wasn’t supposed to even come back home that day, and the luggage situation. I hate “what if” situations when deaths involved. RIP Aaliyah you’re definately still one of my fav artist and I still listen to your CD’s from time to time and I wish you were still here

  8. rian

She was my favorite singer. I had every magazine, CD, ANYTHING she was featured on or just said her name. I had countless tapes of her on TV. Aww :( I use to talk about her non-stop lol. I think every website I use to have back in the day had an Aaliyah dedication page.

  21. Question

    RIP Aaliyah!

BUT shouldn’t we give just as much precedence to other artists who have passed? Luther Vandross and others… every year Aaliyah is celebrated.

    What about Left Eye?

  22. darealist

There has been no other like Ms. Aaliyah! These lil girls out today have no heart, talent and soul like Liyah. She knew how to be age appropriate and sassy and classy at the same time. She didn;t rely on gimmicks like the ones today. I grew up with her and admired her style. I named my child after her. Much love toAaliyah!!!!

  23. Blackchris

I remember her as being one of the top pop singers of our generation.. No one will tell me different. She was a megastar… her trajectory was on blast off!! I will never in my lifetime see another “AALIYAH” …She was a luminous beacon of light for all young people.. to live your life and go after your dreams!! RIP!! <3

  24. Blackchris

@? Because she is “AALIYAH” LOL.. BUT, I THINK WE CELEBRATE HER MORE BECAUSE SHE WAS SO YOUNG AND HER PUBLIC PERSONA! LV AND LE WERE MORE OLDER AND HAD A DIFFERENT MEDIA PERSONA… IDK… AALIYAH IS JUST DIFFERENT.. IDKY!!!

  25. BIGGESTAALIYAHFAN

I always have and always will love “Baby Girl” when I think about just how young she was it still gets to me. I wish she was still here today she would be way bigger than Beyonce. I will always love you Baby Girl. Your #1 true fan.

  26. JJCab

You know you have become a legend/Icon and a threat when people spend their time debating how amazing you were!
The truth is she was great to millions of fans. She has a wonderful career and lived a life that people would kill for.
She will forever be remembered for being a trend-setter in the entertainment world.
    RIP Aaliyah

  27. itzkim

RIP Aaliyah. We miss you so much. <3

  28. marlena

Wow! It’s almost been 10 years. I can’t believe time just flew by, I remember when she passed and where I was. I also remember tears coming down my face which was strange because I’m an older woman and I really just viewed her as a cute little girl with talent but I wouldn’t have called myself a fan (too old to be a fan). I remember thinking about her mother and how she must have been feeling and that made me sad. She’s in heaven with all the other mega stars (Marvin Gaye, Luther, ”The King” and no I’m not talking about Elvis) R.I.P Baby Girl

  29. xuxa

She was so beautiful, unique and talented. The original babygirl, whose death was so tragic and unexpected. She is definitely missed.

Her last album is still on repeat in my Ipod. It flows from start to finish and in my eyes is an R&B classic.

  41. Emma

@85 go cry a river. Beyonce was already on top when Aaliyah was alive. Get over Beyonce and rep for Aaliyah.

  42. French Vanilla

I loved Aaliyah. She was one of the most beautiful, talented and humble singers out there. Just like someone mentioned in one of the other post she was naturally sexy. She didn’t have to try hard like other singers (Beyonce, Ciara). Everything about her was graceful, and classy. She was one of the best singers out there and its a shame that her life was cut so short, but the 22yrs she was on this earth she accomplished so much and that is definitely something to celebrate. Love you babygirl. You may be gone but you will never, ever be forgotten. R.I.P. Aaliyah. And to all the ignorant assholes on here saying negative comments fall the fuck back! For people to come on here and post such nasty things, you obviously are a very troubled individual!

  43. Blackchris

Her laugh was beautiful and infectious!! Lol!
