R&B singer, Fantasia Barrino was released from the hospital on Wednesday (August 11) after being admitted on Monday for overdosing on ‘aspirin and a sleeping aid.’ The medical mishap happened after reading a child custody complaint from Paula Cook, the wife of her lover, Antwaun. In the lawsuit Mrs. Cook claims that the singer had a year-long affair with her husband.
The singer’s manager Brian Dickens released these statements:
Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it,” Dickens said. “She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr. Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere. [ SOURCE ]
North Carolina is one of the few states that allows a spouse to file a lawsuit against a third-party or mistress.
In related news, her third studio is still schedule to be released on August 24th and her reality show in still slated to premiere later this year.
Glad to hear she’s doing better. I pray that she will continue to heal.

It’s not whether she believed Mr. Cook was seperated or not…the fact remains, she knew he was still married in North Carolina. Bible Belt people know when they are playing with fire. Its good to be shes doin alright and that she was released. Fantasia is a talented women, and I know that she can bounce back from this, she just probally needs a little time for herself and to think. Fantasia selfishly carried on an affair with a man she knew was married for over a year. She was bold enough to get his name tattooed on her body, bold enough to engage in public outings with him but when his wife decided to sue and the mainstream media (i.e. WHITE ) got involved-s*** must have gotten to real for her. I saw her on Oprah some months ago and I thought she would make the changes necessary in her life. I saw a look in Fantasia’s face, in her eyes that spoke to what turned out to be her not being true to what she had said on Oprah. I didnt believe she would make things right in her life but some part of me held hope alive for her. She was not sincere on Oprah and I am disappointed.

I love Fantasia but she went into this with her eyes wide open, she gets no pity from me. These celebrities need to get a clue and stop all this madness. I’m glad she is alive and well but who tries to die by taking aspirin, unh hun (in my Wendy Williams voice). It didn’t take much for that man to play her b/c she willingly played herself. She allegedly spoke to the man’s wife and was talking mad trash. The only sympathy that I have for her is that she is obviously not that bright. She doesn’t seem to understand the position that she is blessed to be in, to allow a married man, unhappy or separated to have the opportunity to ruin her reputation, morals, self respect and maybe affect her finances.
I am happy to hear that she will be ok. However, it is so hard for me to have any real sympathy for her. Is she sorry that she messed with this married man, or that his wife took a stand and decided to sue her civilly? Ask to be forgiven,learn and move on. Just remember, as bad a she feels, how bad do you think that wife felt seeing her husband hand and hand with another woman.
