Fantasia Barrino appeared on Good Morning America Tuesday in her first live sit-down interview, two weeks to the day she attempted suicide by overdosing on aspirin and sleep medication.
Barrino told GMA’s Robin Roberts of her August 10 suicide attempt:
“I was just overloaded, for six years I’ve been carrying so much… I always take a lickin’ and keep on tickin. It just became heavy for me, so I just wanted to be away from the noise. I just began to grow tired of taking so many licks.”
She also performed “Bittersweet” from the new album, which is in stores now. The videos are below…

LMAO I had to laugh at that but black people got plenty of places. Fantasia is a black woman that came from the ghetto and she won American Idol so it’s proof black people have been doing it big for as long as I can remember. You are right about bringing each other down. But its really no different than the white blogs but its just that here you kind of see white folks that are featured on here have more positive comments.
121. sexxxi: There’s no “ghetto” in High Point, North Carolina where Fantasia was born and raised. I bet she never missed a meal and she began each school year in new clothes. Her family wasn’t rich, but they didn’t grow up in poverty either. There are so many facts about her story that give people good reasons to doubt her sincerity.

ok other than the fact that i hate watching the show bcuz her voic is like nails on the chalkboard….but she really has talent. its like mary j. times 20 in the vocal dept and not in the studio, if you know what im saying. Now as far as the suicide attempt. i think she did it for real but it was meant only to get the attention of the married man. ladies you know what it is. We either use the kids or hurting ourselves or taking something material from that man to get his attention. Well since she doesnt have kids to dangle or material things……the good ol imma take my life trick was next best in line. then, when she saw the attention it was getting (we all know the family or the manager called the tabloids) she said fuck it imma RIDE THIS THING TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF! Well, i agree with the poster that stated that we didnt go hard on AK i was appalled at what she did….what cuz she’s half breed and light skinned with long hair? we can turn the other cheek? Yo son, read what I said on here. I ain’t talking about the suicide attempt. She was a dumbass before she even touched the bottle.
Tasia made me cry…life can be hard … most people in denial – and running around here all toted up all the time not facing the mess in thier life – it can get heavy – and trust and believe one day you gonna have to purge that mess or you too wil be taking a bottle of “asprins”..really. I don’t beieve this was a pubicity stunt…she is just a young woman who not only had to carry a lot of drama and responsibility early on for her family…but also like most of us have done too – she’s making mistakes along the way….that’s life – hopefully we live and learn and move-on! Fantasia’s voice in annointed…she can sang…sang…and sang…Go Tasia…God ain’t finished with you yet baby girl…standby for more of His amazing grace!

Before the interview, I thought she was doing it for attention to promote her new cd. She really been thru hell. I hope see becomes a stronger woman. Glad, she is still in the land of the living.

No…because you wouldn’t have time to be on here commenting on someone else’s business. Are you paid as a professional counselor to celebs or anyone for that matter? None of us was there to bare witness to her daily, only what we see on TV or a magazine. Therefore, the only thing you have to go on is that which is printed or broadcasted in the media. tasia,you are beyond selfish, has not mentioned the care for her daughter, when on George Lopez show, he mentioned her daughter and this woman rolled her eyes, Hope the cd goes dust and she fades into the sunset, her career will decay as will her relationship with that married man. FIRE HER MANAGER,he has no true since what a manager does, this has been a pr nightmare from the start and downward spiral continuing. Hot mess 4 sure.
No one can say all that her suicide attempt was based off her, because we don’t know her personally. Only she knows everything that drove her to that point. Saying that the attempt was only because of Cook is ignorant because if you at least watched her during American Idol, you would know there was already drama she was dealing with then. I am glad that she survived and hope she doesn’t attempt again. Say what you want about her not being about to read well, only recently graduating with a high school diploma, etc. , but the fact remains she is still one of the greatest American Idol winners to date. I’ll be buying the cd soon.

At first when I read and heard all that went on with her in the past few weeks…then saw this appearence, I was skeptical too. But who are we too judge. We don’t know personally what someone is going through and trying to take your own life is unacceptable, but sometimes a person may not know a better way to handle their personal situations. Don’t judge, have compassion and move forward. Because you never know how your words or actions may affect someone else.
Her performance was amazing. Everyone has sinned in life and makes bad choices, she is now having to face the bad choices that she made. ON top of having to deal with that, she has a mooching family who only cares about money. Then there are ppl like most of you on here who put her down as if she is not human. My prayers will be going up for you and I hope that things get better and God gives you courage and makes you strong where you are weak. You are an awesome vocalist and I just hope that you take some time out for you and your little girl to just chill and renew
So sad, my heart just goes out to her. Publicity stunt or not she’s talented. Fantasia is human like the rest of us, her situation especially with family is beyond CRAZY and she’s the bread winner in her family. She is in a rough spot on all levels. GOD can only help her at this point. Her personal business is for only her to deal with and know. I’m not one to judge, love you TASIA. Do your thing, I’m getting my copy this week!
