  1. Music Sucks!

Just came in to say…NOT IMPRESSED JAY Z!

I am sure he can’t wait to put this in one of his rap song verses! *sigh*

  2. lemonhead

‘Look, the white man sez Ise rich!’
We’re all very impressed, Jay-Z-now how much of that money are you going to spend on Haiti, or rebuilding war ravaged African nations? Oh, I forgot-you’re too busy buying diamond encrusted Yankees pendants and sports teams to do that.

There’s nothing wrong with being rich, as long as you earn it and use it to glorify God.

  4. rian

He can buy whatever he wants with his money.
Why are you questioning a RAPPER for not sending his earned millions of dollars to Haiti instead of the American country for not sending the pledged BILLIONS..
Question the people not allowing Haitians to actually USE the money that people DID send.
Question yourself.. why are you commenting on CL this early in the morning instead of getting on a plane to volunteer in Haiti or undeveloped African countries?

How much money have any of you sent to Haiti or African nations lmfao? Shut that sh*t up then.
Anyway, thank God for black men like Jay-Z.

  5. rian

And am I the only one who remembers Jay GOING TO AFRICA in 06.. lmfao
He went there @4.. he helped them get clean water and actually saw in person how to live like they do for a while.
what have YOU done for Africa?
He donated 250k to getting clean water for Africans..
He pledged $1 million to help the Katrina effort…

So like..what exactly are you going on about LOL fail. smh
and then had the nerve to end it with suggesting you give money to God.
Give God the money you’re paying for internet connection & electricity..

  6. Nini

@Rian Thank you for that some people be trippin’ tryna h8 on Jay and lmao @Give God the money you’re paying for internet connection & electricity..

  7. JORDAN

From Marcy to Forbes Magazine…Congrats Jay…i”m impressed even though most hate.

  8. Hitnrun

Jay should be a motivation to us all that anything we put our minds to is possible. Be smart with your money and stop following the masses. I am so inspired and impressed with him and his wife B. Imagine living life with such FREEDOM!!!!!! WOW man….BIG UPS TO JAY!!!!!!

  9. Analyst

Why does Forbes act like Jay Z’s the only black person making serious loot…I mean his wife pulled in more loot than he did yet you don’t see her on the cover Forbes…media be trying to create a JayZ clut club…suckers invited.

  10. GLORIA

Jay-Z is doing his thing and he could influence other young people. Even though he’s annoying at times I know he worked very hard to get where he is. And you have to work even harder to maintain it. Can’t hate on that.

  11. Ojeezy

Yea! I don’t know y these ppl are on here hating on jay. Have much money have you donated to various charity. He has money ,n being where he came from and what he started hustling in the 80′s and now he is love by everybod is great.

  12. Music Sucks!

You suckers kill me…..believe anything the internet tell yall. Not nan one of you have seen Jay Z financial statements so please give it a rest about his riches.

In the meantime since you all have been so *inspired and impressed* with the camel, how about you all tell us about your investment portfolio??

    I’ll wait………………………….

My money is straight and I have investments so before you go pulling that hating card please think first…

And I didn’t and don’t need a former professed drug dealer to inspire me, I have myself and family role models for that!!

    Losers!!!!!

  13. everykneeshallbow

@HITNRUN-sorry but we ALL should not use jay z as motivation .i will always use my examples of hard working, intelligent, giving family members or friends as motivation. those who i have a first hand experience with.i don’t know jay z personally or his lifestyle or how he got to where he is now so regardless of how much paper money he has or how rich he believes he is that is his way and his journey. we may never come close to how much he made and earned but we get our motivations elsewhere especially from our lord and savior jesus christ. !

  14. lesa

I totally agree wit you Rian!! I remember and well said.

  15. Jessica Alma

I agree with you, Rian! “What we talkin’ about, fiction? or we talkin’ ’bout facts. oh, we talkin’ ’bout fiction. Pardon my back!” -Jay-Z

    http://www.twitter.com/jessicaalma_

  16. circa-1984

Lmao I knew…I knew it’d only be a matter of time. Smh. Jay is only as successful as them jews allow…trust…

  17. lemonhead

“Hail Mary to the city you’re a Virgin,
and Jesus can’t save you life starts when the church ends.”

    From ‘Empire State of Mind’

    That’s why I’m ‘hatin’!

If you wanna continue to give props to a man who openly hates or @ least denies Christ, you go right ahead. He has been GIVEN wealth b/c he’s doing what the devil wants him to do, turn people away from God. He is most definitely NOT the only one. We can see that our world is SO corrupt today that the church is even turning into a sinful place (Catholic priests, bishops, etc.) And I, for one, am tired of people glorfying thug life and loving money more than people.

  18. Jamaican Cutie

i guess jay’s living bruno mars’ dream

  19. gwen

    I Love this man!!!!!!!!!!

  20. meek

I think that the article was very positive and as a result should have positive feedback. If you do not have anything nice to say than just dont say anything. You do not end up on the cover of Forbes magazine by accident. Jay-Z is a buisness man wether you like him or not.You should respect the hustle and focus all of that negative energy on your own self improvement.

  21. That's all.Peace y'all.

    um, yea Circa-84. Exactly.

I’m not hating on Jay-Z- I have no reason to, but I’m not impressed with his wealth. Consider me a poor man with a heart to help a nation. All of his emphasis is on material gain. I’m bored with it. His donations to Katrina and Haiti are wonderful gifts, (ahem, write off’s) but his influence comes from his music and his music ain’t talkin’ bout sh*t that will help people change their condition.

@Rian, I respect your view. You’re so right about the “people” who prevent funding from reaching those in need. I can’t argue that. I’m not patting J’s pockets and telling him where to put it. My issue is with his mainstream message. With his influence, I wish he would tell us something other than his blings, things, cars, and lyrical skills.
See he has the wealth and according to him, it was by way of dealing drugs. So now his audience get ahold’a some money and buy THINGS tryna be like the JiggaMan. May even wanna hustle something tryna be like the JiggaMan. Now he is a businessman. Tell us about that…saving strategies, investing wisely etc.

    That’s all. Peace yall*

  22. MAKAEL

JAY-Z IS A PRIME EXAMPLE THAT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WHEN YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT. INSTEAD OF HATING ON THE MAN LETS TRY TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE. JAY DESERVES EVERYTHING THAT HE HAS, HE WENT FROM A DRUG DEALER LIVIN IN A NYC PROJECT WITH HIS SINGLE MOTHER TO TURNING HIS LIFE AROUND & BECOMING ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED RAPPERS/PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!!!!! I’M GLAD PRESIDENT OBAMA, OPRAH WINFREY, BILL GATES, WARREN BUFFET & OTHER NOTABLE PPL HAVE RECOGNIZED THIS & INSTEAD OF JUDGING HIM THEY PRAISE HIM FOR HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS!!!

  23. media robot

Forbes ppl could have done a much better cover smh. As for Jay Z being on the list I say regardless of the “rumors” this man has come from the gutter and now he is a household name. I say bravo to his hustle. How he got there is his business. I just hope he got there based on pure hustle, hard work and networking w the right ppl. *shrugs*

  24. km

actually he didnt just go to africa in 06 alone.. hes been over there many times and has continually been in the efforts to get clean water over there.

u guys who keep throwing up HAITI need to be looking at yourselves because it seems like thats all you know is HAITI.. Haiti Haiti Haiti.. if that never happened, what other foundation would u be claiming he should be helping with. He and his wife dont BROADCAST what they do all the time, everyones not Wyclef!

  25. chattypatty

Well, it seems we have a lot of angry people on CL. Why don’t we all just live and let live. Noone is required to do anything with their money, that’s why you earn it so you can do as you please. Anyway Jay has donated money to Africa and Katrina and I’m sure lots of other various charities. Just because it’s not advertised doesn’t mean he doesn’t give, and if it were put out there everyone would say it’s just for publicity.

And for all the judgemental people, admitting a not so perfect past doesn’t make you less of a role model. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth and it’s easy to get caught up in all the wrong around you, but what’s hard is making yourself right.

This man had a dream and made it a brand, and as much bafoonery that goes on the rap and hip-hop culture these days I’m glad to see someone representing US this way. Oh yeah! That’s right US because you know all that gets seen is color so whether or not you feel like that it is representation of you THEY DO!

Get it together people! And I have my own!

  26. Ojeezy

@ I hate his music. I was just saying for where he came from and look at him now is great. I am not impressed by his money. I make my own money. I happy to see a black person do so well. Yes he is not the only black person that made a lot of money this year, but i think forbes put him on the cover to attract a younger crowd. So who is a loser

  27. kamara

lmao at people thinking this guy is some kinda role model…please.. all Jay Z shows us is that if you sell drugs you will become sucessful in whatever master business you have and if your lucky, marry a “high yella broad”( his words not mine).

  28. coolkidsrule

Thats what i’m talking about Jay!!!!!

  29. Meat

    28. ,kamara, Drug dealer turned filth rapper. Listening to him talk about the “consumption” of music is a transition from his first love. On the street they call it “supply and demand”. Jay Z knows that “sin products” sells. He’s not very articulate and not very profound. It’s sad that he has as much influence as he does with young minds. Crooks like Warren Buffett could take Jay’s money in one swoop. You always see entertainment medias discribing him as a rapper turned entreprenegro, but the “turns” started long before he bought the studio equipment.

  30. ButtaFlyy

It’s amazing the games they play with our hearts, ambitions, and minds. I’ll just focus on my own small checkbook. At least that way I’ll know it isn’t tainted. smh…

  31. JstBReal

Forbes is trying to appeal to a different demographic than the normal stuff people that usually buy the magazine. Im not big on Jay-Z but if he came from nothing and has made a name for himself, well that makes him a role model in my opinion. Its not like we have many brothas representing in publications like this.

  32. Danger

Many of you kids are so easily impressed by money, not caring how that person got there. You are fools to be inspired by a man who still raps about selling drugs to our people, or rapping about what he has and we dont. How do you think Jay Z makes money? From you idiots who lines his pockets while your struggling trying to get your pockets lined. If he is an inspiration to you then you have no role models or mentors in your life, life is more than making money and being on forbes… do you know the real rich and wealthy are not in Forbes because they dont care and dont want their business splashed around. I feel sorry for most of you who look up to fairy tales, and numbers do lie btw

  33. Danger

…so if you came from nothing and now has something makes one a role model? Some of you are sad! I guess pimps, drug dealers, etc are role models too

  34. kamara

Interesting that they put him on the 400th cover…

  35. Kimmie

I know longer think it’s only the white man trying to keep a brother down. It’s his own brother trying to keep him down. I don’t know how many of you who commented are black. But all I know is, we are our own worse enemy. Instead being proud of a black man coming from the gutter and making something out of himself, we got to hate on him and try to dictate what he should and should not do with his money. Throwing God all up in the kool-aid.

Then you go and start talking about you got and how you invest when the magazine don’t even have your picture on it. JAY-Z is on it! Yeah, I’m sure other black made a lot of money, but JAY-Z for right now is on the cover.

You don’t have to like his music, you don’t have to like how he made his money and you don’t even have to like (assuming you know him personally)! But damn, respect the man’s damn hustle.

Everyone saying something negative sounds like you wanna be him to me! Its only showing your envy!

The KKK need to just go ahead and disband, becuase they are no longer needed. Black folks are doing a good job degrading each other, hating on each other, etc.

  36. Kimmie

Oh and by the way, when your start your comments off by saying: “I’m not hating on Jay-Z”…….YOU ARE HATING!!!!! ugggghhh

  37. v.v.b

and for the DUMB person who said jay-z music does not make ppl want to do good HAS OBVIOUSLY NEVER LISTEN (BROUGHT) BLUEPRINT THAT ALBUM CHANGED MY LIFE SAME WITH KANYE’S HALF OF YOU DISSING HIS MUSIC DONT EVEN BUY THE CD 2 EVEN JUDGE JUST WATCH EMPIRE STATE OF MIND N THINK ITS 14 SONGS OF THE SAME TRACK LISTEN 2 POWER REMIX KANYE WEST SWIZZ BETS N HIM THEY SCREAMIN OUT 2 BLACK PPL 2 DO SOMETHING WITH THIER LIVES ..U AINT LISTEN OR U DNT WANT 2

  38. Meat

    35. Kimmie, how much Jay Z paying you? Do you really think a blog on CL can “keep a brother down”? How can you be proud of a brother if he sold poison and filthy tracks to pay his way out of the gutter? Keep in mind that you are the one who said he’s come up…! I happen to think that he’s still in the gutter.

He and Warren don’t impress me. I don’t respect either of their “hustles”. And, nobody wants to be like him. Any one of us could have sold drugs in black communities. That’s an easy job to get and master. But, the ends don’t justify the means.

  39. Kimmie

@ Meat…..No i’m not on Jay-Z’s payroll. Don’t need to be! I’m just not a hater! We don’t know why he had to do what he did to get out of the gutter. All I know he did what he had to do. Just as a woman who sells her body to feed her kids.

People do what they have to do! Its not like he’s sitting on the corner hustle right now! He moved beyond that. So you and everyone else can dwell on this mans past and how he sold drugs to get his paper. I mean, thats what we do, we dwell on folks past and believe they can’t rise above their past. In fact, us coloreds want that!

By the way “MEAT” I didn’t say a “BLOG” can keep brother down! I said haters (mostly COLORED HATERS) keeps a brother down! Re-read my comment if you’re a tad bit confused!

Big ups to JAY-Z! Continue to do you!

  40. NOTE:

They need to put Oprah on the cover…bump Jay Z….his wife made more than he did….I bet Miley Cirus did too..:-)

  41. The Aerospace Guy

I enjoy when business becomes a topic. I do not understand why people hate on those that have built some weath. Instead, we should ask how and try to duplicate it. I would rather listen to Jay-Z and how to build a business empire than the typical misc. entertainer stuff… except for concreteloop stuff of course…. :)

I would like a concreteloop style website for black business people and…to learn who is doing what..any suggestions?

  42. rian

    Right @26 & i looove that quote lol @16

  43. tom

jz can’t take the heat so he’s having posters comments blocked. how pathetic.

  44. Meat

    41. Kimmie said: “Just as a woman who sells her body to feed her kids.”

Now I know you’re a sick, confussed individual. No woman has to do that! She be better off letting them starve. And, Jay Z didn’t have to sell drugs, but he lowered himself and now he will always have that asterous next to his name.

Now, the Aerospace Guy wants to duplicate Jay Z model for building a business empire. Well, you have to start by selling your soul. Be willing to poison other people and prey on the weak. Carry a weapon and assult people to get your way. Don’t pay taxes and marry someone with true talent.

Kimmie thinks that he has moved beyond all that street hustling, but I suggest you listening to his music. You’ll see that he’s still hustling. Appealing to the worse in our society. His own wife distances herself from his foul rap. And, all of his respectable business ventures have been hit or miss. The drugs and rap has been the foundation upon which all the successes rest.

He only knows one business principle: “Prey upon the weak.”

  45. ButtaFlyy

    @Meat:

Lol! You’re a deep trip! Kudos!

  46. ButtaFlyy

    @ 36. kamara :

Why do you say that? I can guess, but wanted to know what you were thinking ;o)

  47. Meat

    47. ButtaFlyy,

I get into a lot of predicaments. Oh, praise Jesus!

  48. ButtaFlyy

PRAISE HIM!!!! And the church says ‘Amen’.

  49. Mary

Just another one of his Illuminati fuck buddies!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh the truth will be revealed sooo soon :-)

  50. kemi

Jay Z sold his soul to the Devil for some cash. That’s why he’s on Forbes magazine!! I do not praise him and his denial of Christ. Your life on this earth is only temporary..and he says that he does not believe in hell..I feel sorry for him. If he doesn’t get himself right with God..he’s going to find out real quick that hell is real and none of his money can get him out..for eternity!! SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!! I’m so sick of his nonsense!!

  51. Rick

@51 eat a dick ole hating ass whore

  52. fififj123

Go Jay. He needs to write a book if he hasnt already, what an inspiration to the young boys and girls who may have started out on the wrong foot but tunred it all around. This is why locking a kid up with great potential is not the answer, they just need a refocus in their direction in life

  53. Tnga

I get that he branched off into different things and invested his money, blah blah, but for the life of me I will never think this man is all that and can’t figure out why people worship him. Whatever lol.

  54. Tnga

And the illuminatti shit is something spew out cuz people are bored with themselves. You can find other reasons to hate him lol. I did.

  55. atlantageorgia

Bey has a lot of money but how does she sleep with this man? She must close her eyes and see nothing but dollar signs, I mean really!

  56. DIVINE

umm this is the oddest pairing

  57. 6ornothin

Aight enough is enough. I fucks with Jay since 95 Dj clue tapes when alotta people didnt. Yeah he did come real far as far as keeping the spotlight , yeah he’s good for that. He may be worth some mills but to put him on the cover of Forbes in front of Warren Buffet ( #2 richest in U.S) and say that hes on his way there is just rediculous. Like Rayful Edmond would say, can he phyiscally touch a 100 mili? Yeah, Jay is smart , wealthy, tall, charasmatic, superpopular and married the baddest chick in the game , and by those standards alone , it’ll get most people to listen to what u have to say but by looking at the video, you can clearly see he’s out of his league. Warren Buffet is worth BILLIONS second to Bill Gates and the guy thats interviewing for Forbes, well he interviews BILLIONARES or soon to be (500+ mil cash). When asked about hs dealings, he’s still talking about music and being very figitly knowing he’s talking nickel and dimes in the presence of billionares. Watch the hand and body movements, reminds me of menace2society “you know u done fcked up right”.
Note: You cannot be a billionare off of rapping. People hear Jay did this and Jay signed that but thats all they hear, not the logistics of it. Example, Jay only invested 10 millli into the Nets. but ya let some tell he owns the damn team. I’m done. Like i said i fcks wit Jay, still my all time favorite rapper , 15 years strong but thats where the relation stops.

  58. ?????????

YES OF COURSE WE SHOULD ALL ADMIRE A MAN THAT HELPED TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE DESTRUCTION OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY. SELLING DRUGS TO HIS OWN PEOPLE. FOR THOSE THAT SAY WE ARE HATING I HAVE 2 WORDS FOR YOU: CRACK BABIES. EVER SEEN A NEWBORN GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWALS? IT’S NOT PRETTY.

WHAT DOES IT PROFIT A MAN TO GAIN THE WORLD AND LOSE HIS SOUL? I GUESS IT DOESN’T MATTER AS LONG AS YOU CAN RIDE AROUND IN MAYBACHS AND YACHTS. JAY-Z HAS BLOOD ON HIS HANDS. ONE DAY HE WILL HAVE TO ANSWER TO A HIGHER POWER FOR THAT. A POWER HIGHER THAN WARREN BUFFET OR ANYONE ELSE IN FORBES MAGAZINE.
