After dropping her debut single, “Whip My Hair,” Willow Smith announced that she is officially signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label via the Ryan Seacrest radio show.
Her mother actress Jada Pinkett-Smith had this to say:
“After meeting with several record companies, it was clear that JAY-Z, Ty Ty, Jay Brown and the Roc Nation staff was the unquestionable choice. Their passion for Willow combined with their boundless vision and artistic integrity made Roc Nation the perfect home for our little girl.”
Hip-Hop Mogul Jay-Z also spoke about bringing Willow to his RocNation imprint:
We at Roc Nation are excited to work with Willow. She has an energy and enthusiasm about her music that is truly infectious. It’s rare to find an artist with such innate talent and creativity at such a young age. LisaJ I see what you’re saying, but its a totally different thing when this is what the child wants to do. Jada and Will have both spoken on how much of a voice and input that their children have on their careers. I’m pretty sure that they aren’t forcing her to do something that she does not want to do or is not ready to do. And as strong-willed and hands-on as Will and Jada are with their kids, Willow won’t having a problem maintaining her childhood.

1) Joe Jackson used Michael and the boys to get their family out of Gary. Will is one of top paid actors in Hollywood so he doesn’t need to push his kids out there to do anything they don”t want to do.
2) As far as her missing out on her childhood.. how so? If this is what she wants to do than this is her childhood. She will still have time to play with her friends and do whatever it is that she enjoys as a child. Its no different than the 10 year olds out there playing sports. Of course playing sports takes away time from them doing the nothingness that kids do, but if that’s what they are passionate about then I’m sure its what they would rather be doing.

I always thought she would feel left out because of her brother Jaden’s success. But who knew this girl had all this talent. She has a nice tone to her voice for 9 years old. As for her not having a childhood. Her childhood hasn’t been normal since she was born.
