First off I appreciate you guys at CL introducing us to up and coming artists. And for the most part I’m usually pleasantly surprised. But I must say this right here is absolute GARBGE! The music sounds dated, and her vocals are mediocre at best. However I do wish her the best seeing as though she is a new mom and all.
I occasionally love me some neo soul like my homegurl India Arie and my boo Musiq but WTF is this. It sounds like she is just whining and that’s a no no. And these people need to upgrade their sound. Now if yall didn’t cop Musiq’s last album yall need to hear Dear John I’m in love with that song all over again. That’s good neo soul this is a hot mess.
The sad part is that most of the people who visit this website know nothing about Conya Doss or R&B music not in the mainstream….*sigh*
But I do appreciate you plugging them in concreteloop.
Actually her voice sounds no different than people on youtube singing this type of music. One thing you do need to make it mainstream is a unique tone/voice. So they definitely have that. She should upgrade her sound. This is not hot but I wish her the best.
Ima Conya Doss stan but Ima pass on this one. She’s a great neo-soul artist. She says the things others dont pertaining to relationships. Here are some of her older and BETTER songs. If you like India Arie, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone you’ll like these songs by her.
Mainstream artists unique? With the exception of Mary J., Jazmine, Chrisette,Jill, and Beyonce, they all sound the same. C. Doss has a voice that is very distinctive, yet she doesn’t have the major dollars behind her, so good music like hers will probably never be heard by mainstream listeners. Btw, I’m feeling this tune. But you know what opinions are like… Everyone has one. Kudos to CL for showing artists like her some love. BTW, Sexxxi, tons of unknown singers on youtube sing rings around several mainstream artist, just listen!
I am way more open-minded than I used to be, and enjoy experiencing new music, but PASS………
I loove the sound..!
Cover reminds me of Avatar tho lol

Nice voice, cute album cover
Two years? Umm, I have never heard of her and will keep it that way . This song sucks!
GROWN FOLKS MUSIC…What? Don’t be mad…
the cover reminds me of Diana Ross’ self titled album cover! i like!!
the song on the other hand… not so much.
I ADORE Conya Doss. I’m from the Midwest and she’s huge out here. So happy to see her receiving her shine.
Very refreshing to hear something tasteful and classy! Thanks CL!!
Me likey the music!
She resembles a younger Shanice…
I really like this, it has a kinda throwback vibe that’s not captured in today’s world of digital diluted music! Funky! Hope to hear more!
Her voice sounds more unique than many of the female artists on mainstream radio. Nice song, but her voice outshines the music.
