Here’s new music from Keri Hilson taken from the sessions from her upcoming sophomore album, No Boys Allowed. No word on an official tracklisting, so it’s not certain whether or not “Still A Girl” will be included on the final cut of the album.
She is currently promoting the album’s first single, “Breaking Point,” which Keri shot a video for over the last weekend in Atlanta. No solid release date has been given for No Boys Allowed.
Sounds like something Taylor Swift would sing! it’s ok I guess.

What u guys fail to realize is that this is the type of music Keri has always favored. Pop was always the direction that she wanted to go for as an artist before her first few pop attempts failed (see “Energy”, “Return the favor”, etc.) and she “resorted” to this image of some “ATL shawty, slang-talking, r&b artist.
For example, right out of the gate she was featured on Timbaland’s poppyish tracks to date because that was the pop artist he tried to introduce Keri as. She is more natural in that element than she looks doing r&b, which looks so forced it’s embarrassing at times.
So now she’s trying her hand at pop once again, but sticking to urban tracks just to keep that fanbase.
And that would be a pretty pic if it wasn’t for the superhero make-up around her eyes! *multiple blinks* Why?
this eye of the horus make-up “trend” is actually making these women’s eyes look painfully wonky but I don’t think they have a say.

Lala23, I completely disagree with you. Keri has always done R&B/Hip-Hop tracks, just look at her writing credits, just about all of them are urban. She’s always wanted to have such a hood image and rep Atlanta, that was never anyone else’s idea but hers. When she does pop, it seems very fake and forced.
Top 40 feel… just about anyone can get in the top 40 now-a-days, I think we should say she’s going for a Top 20 feel. This song is very cliche, boring, out of date, and juvenile. She’s a grown a** woman, not a girl. Why do grown adults make songs that cater to younger audiences such as teens?
And that make is a hot mess! She looks like cat woman! Keri is not pretty whatsoever and never has been.

Keri Hilson, dear Keri Hilson, you are not Beyoncé Giselle Knowles, you are not Robyn Rihanna Fenty, hell, you are not even Ciara Princess Harris. Why trying to make a combinaison of these 3? She doesnt know if she wants to give us Sasha Fierce, Ciara or Rihanna in that pic! Like I feel sorry for this girl, you would think she could do/be better than the others, & she comes back with cheap versions of other ppl’s work. Her first single sounds like she wants so bad to have a ladies’ anthem like Beyoncé/DC, even the talking part it has Beyoncé written all over it. Even your own stans are not feeling your latest work & look in the forums Ive been to. Ive never been a fan, she works hard as a writer but is a mediocre singer, she gives nothing as an artist, she doesnt have ‘it’, I can have more with Ciara, Beyoncé & Rihanna, thats why I dont spend time on Keri, I feel like the other ones do it better what she tries so hard to do. I like it…it’s a switch from the ATL shawty Keri, then again we have an alter ego, and this song is an example of hers. Kinda like Beyonce (Sasha is a hip-hop/R&B and Beyonce is poppish with a lil soft rock)

Please not cuz she was featured on Timb’s track ‘The Way You Are’ that she is pop, her true fans know that her very first appearance on TV was with Xzibit on ‘hey now’ which was nothing but a hip hop song. She was always R&B & urban, her catalogue is, her writing credits are (excepting for gimme more), her fashion is. Nobody forced her to do anythin, she introduced herself as this. She just wants now to break into the Pop/mainstream audience & was clearly inspired by her peers already said before me, Im not mad at her but please, she is nowhere pop. What she forgets even if she is favoring pop, the globality of her audience and fans was, is & still will be urban & support her for being R&B. Going into the Pop route might be rougher for her specially when she is known R&B, Pop already has heavy & confirmed weights who saturate the market, her voice doesnt necessarily fits, her fans wont necessarily follow.

Writing R&B songs for OTHER artists don’t make you a genuine R&B artist yourself. She writes for them to make the song fit their image so that point is pretty invalid. On the same note, just as much as she writes for R&B artists, she also writes amazing songs for POP stars as well, and they seem just as natural. (See Britney Spears’ whole Blackout album, Timbaland’s Shock Value, etc.) Even with The Clutch, she wrote loads of pop songs for pop artists.
Keri Hilson wanted to be a pop star at heart. R&B is what took her in so she was kinda obligated to stay true to the genre, even though she’s still trying to crossover. Look at how “pop” 70% of her debut album is. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, she just doesn’t convince me that she is the ATL shawty, ghetto talkin, hood chick that she wants us to believe she is. She’s just the projection of an image of what ghetto should look like. And she speaks nowhere near the way she tries to sound in her “Turnin Me On” song. It’s okay to sound educated Keri.
And she uses her ATL/Decatur “upbringing” for some sort of creditability. She’s from the suburbs and you would never find her anywhere NEAR Zone 3 after dark.
I like this one Keri ! The guitar lick is similar to one found in Tracy Chapmen’s song Fast Car, this woud have been great for Jordin Sparks she’s got that black girl with a “white r&b” type voice that would be great on this. But its good momma !

I think she’s a great singer….but in my opinion this new “look” is very beyonce inspired. I like them both, but just because one person can pull off a certain look, doesn’t mean that everybody can. She should stay true to herself–maybe that’s what she’s trying to do, who knows. Still, based on who she has presented herself as up until now, this looks like she’s trying to look like someone else.
