NEW MUSIC: WILLOW SMITH – “WHIP MY HAIR”

♫ Willow Smith – Whip My Hair

As we mentioned earlier this year, 9-year-old Willow Smith, daughter of Hollywood heavyweights Will and Jada, is launching a music career and she has released her first single, “Whip My Hair” from her currently untitled debut album. Rumor has it that she may be signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label. A little RiRi in the making maybe?

  2. iheartnickiminaj

WOW!! This song is actually bangin’! It has beat, swag, and it’s cute for her age! Get em’ Willow!

  3. Nats

I like the song! She will be good, she seems like a sensible headed and mature kid just think 9 years old is soooooo young! But hey her mum & dad are great parents and if anyone can guide her it’s them. Willow is great!!!

  4. clarkthink

whip my ass!??!…….I’ll whip yo’ lil ass!!…..go clean up your room…NOW!!!!!

  5. GREATNESS

To all the people talking bought they ain’t gonna dance or rep no song by a youngin I guess yall never moved to the legendary Jackson 5 music. Michael Jackson was 5 when he started in the business. You can’t keep a genius stalled just cause they young. WHIP YO HURRR! #willow

  6. Terri Price

This is too cute and I agree that its age appropriate. She’s talented

  7. TBlaze

It’s a cute song, very catchy. But she is 9 years old! I can not see myself dancing to something a 9 year old song. At least not in this day & time.

  8. LB

She Got of Lowkey…she only 9 and she some betta than some of these ppl out now.

  9. Ceci

She sounds really good to be 9years old. I agree MJ did start pretty young and so did Stevie Wonder. Idk something about it makes me feel uncomfortable because she sounds so grown, and MJ sounded 9 when he sang. But i think she’s going to go far, she has the self-esteem and great backing to be a big star. I mean her parents are Will & Jada, let’s understand any other regular 9yr old with a voice like that would likely not have gotten signed. But she’s talented! Her song is nice too.

  10. Cmeez

    1) The hook IS bangin (I cant really make out the rest except she DOES sound like Rihanna)

    2) Definitely sounds a little old for 9

3)”What haters?” –Are yall kidding me? Kids are THEE worst haters by far. They were hating on me in preschool. No really.

4)LMAO @ “This song would be hot right before Real Life: I’m a Teen Mom and Sweet 16. This is such a young girl female empowerment song. Forget school just whip that hair, dance, work that fashion and get the party started. We need more of this! Young Money!”

You guys are a non-stop comedy session!

  11. truthfullyspeaking

Well it’s obvious that there’s a bunch of ghetto N****ERS on here who like this bubblegum, ghetto song! WTF was that? Yea it’s catchy, but that doesn’t mean it sounds good? “I whip my hair back and forth.” Are you f**king kidding me? She sounds like she’s trying too hard to sing good. She sounds so deep and flat. I’m only 20 and I don’t like dumb sh** like this but 30 year olds are jamming to this?

  12. *Irony

Ok Willow, I see ya! She has an incredible talent. She sounds young, but the song blows. By the by, her mom can sing also. Let’s see that video girl, because I’m strongly trying to envision you whipping that hair when you done got it all cut off !!

  13. fififj123

Go Willow. Impressive for a 9 year old. Those kids are bursting with talent. Not really a fan of her outfits, alitlle risque for a child, especially the off the shoulder look. Alot better talent than those whiney pitchey white kid stars that come out with an album just because they are on tv. Go Willow!

  14. KeepnItFunky

Didn’t know WHAT to expect. Just kept hearing about it, then that she signed to RocNation. So I said “lemme see what she workin with”…Ashamed to say it but I turned it up, listened to it 2wice in a row & my GROWN a** was sittin here rockin 2 it at work & well, WHIPPIN MY HAIR BACK & FORTH. LOL!
Go ‘head Willow! Def not mad at ya lil sis!..sending it to my daughter’s phone in 5,4,3,2…Ok. I predict once my kids get ahold of this, I’ma be WHIPPED out in a matter of wks & PULLIN my hair out tho. LOL!…still a good lil look 4 the young’n!

I was in Brooklyn the other day and heard this song.I love it….

  18. What's the big deal?

I dont see why people feel unsure if they should jam to her song, because she’s a 9 year old. Not comparing her level of talent to Michael Jackson’s talent, but more so her age, Michael started out when he was young and people jammed to his songs. How is she “too young”‘ to start her career? Beyonce who everyone worships, started working on her career as a kid. Once again, not comparing the level of talent but the age. Willow has intelligent, strong parents who will be watching out for her and supporting her. I’d be more concerned if her parents were not apart of the industry and were at the mercy of whatever people tell them about their child. If age were such a problem, why do many of us have our children taking dance or piano lessons so young or participating in little league sporta? Even if they don’t have the opportunity to become famous at that time, they are still doing the work. Working on their craft. It makes them become well rounded. It sparks creativity for them. It builds confidence. Will and Jada got this.
