Earlier this week, Atlanta, Georgia’s Bishop Eddie Long was accused of sexual abuse by two men of his mega-church congregation. According to the lawsuit, two men (Maurice Robinson, 20 and Anthony Flagg, 21) claim that while they were teenagers, Long conducted private spiritual ceremonies and coerced them into sexual acts:
“The pastor took one plaintiff, Anthony Flagg, 21, on overnight trips to a half-dozen American cities in recent years, Flagg’s suit alleges. “Long shared a bedroom and engaged in intimate sexual contact with plaintiff Flagg including kissing, massaging, masturbating of plaintiff Flagg by defendant Long and oral sexual contact,” the suit says.
Long took the other plaintiff, Maurice Murray Robinson, 20, to Auckland, New Zealand, in October 2008 for his 18th birthday and engaged in oral sex with him, Robinson’s suit alleges. “Following the New Zealand Trip, Defendant Long regularly engaged in sexual touching, and other sexual acts with Plaintiff Robinson,” Robinson’s suit alleges.” [ SOURCE ]
The lawyer for Robinson and Flagg, B.J. Bernstein, also claims that she has the photos, texts and e-mails to prove the relationship between her clients and the bishop. Bishop Eddie Long, who is also known for being an advocate against same-sex marriage, adamantly denies the allegations.

I believe the boys. And for those saying “Why didn’t they say anything,” you could learn a lot from just a little reading on the power dynamics in a sexually abusive relationship. Speaking out against a very powerful man for homosexual acts is probably not easy, especially because everyone will see you as gay. I see child abuse sex scandals are Not limited to the Catholic Church.
I’ve heard Bishop Eddie Long’s name, but I don’t really know him or his church. I surely hope it is not true, but if it is he deserves to go to prison like the rest. The only thing that makes me skeptical of these things in when the lawyers and the victims feel the need to make these things public…it reads off as sabotage and I have heard or read anything about the lawyers seeking maximum sentencing or imprisonment. I see them certainly looking to sue for money and I don’t understand how that has anything to do with the situation.
I disagree. He’s a public figure. He televises his ministry world wide. How would this not be made public? And as for the money part of it. I hope they get all the money that Long has in his accounts so that he no longer has the funds to manipulate others.
I’m skeptical of all of these big churches and their pastors.
We’ll see once we get the evidence. As for those who want to know why did they wait so long, there are a multitude of reasons. For one, these boys couldve belonged to families who worship the pastor and would excommunicate their own children for making these accusations against them. For all we know, Bishop Long could’ve threatned death because he is such a powerful man. Right now I believe that both sides have valid points but I will remain on the fence about this issue because there are no facts from either side.
You never know what goes on behind closed doors, but if this isn’t true it’s a really sad position to put Bishop Eddie Long in.

I dont have an opinion on who I believe, all I know is that teenage boys of their age know damn well a Pastor is NOT suppose to be doing things of that nature to them.
Case will be dismissed. The legal age of consent is 16 in GA, and the boys supposedly were of age. If this is true, which I think it is because he has always looked about as sweet as a Georgia peach to me, there was nothing inappropriate sexually on his behalf where the law is concerned, unless he was using the Church funds where the gifts were concerned, but to use that as a defense seems just as weak when there is really no way to account for the money that was spent. Seems to me like these men are salty about something. They really could’ve not lawyered up and began to waste taxpayer dollars, and tried to take this court and just went about it another way if they were trying to get even with Long for whatever reason.

Gospel music artists and some of these prominent pastors have some sugar in their tank. You can just take a good look at them and tell. So if this is true, I wouldn’t be surprised.
