Another man by the name of Jamal Parris stepped forward yesterday in regards to the Bishop Eddie Long scandal. According to WSBTV.com:
In the latest lawsuit, the plaintiff, Jamal Parris, detailed how Long allegedly gave him his personal cell phone number two weeks after the two first met. Parris also alleged that Long encouraged him to call him “daddy.” According to the suit, Parris’ father had not been a positive figure in his life.
Parris said he joined New Birth in 2001. He said he later became Long’s personal assistant, and that Long would ask him to remain in his private office after church, where Long engaged in sexual misconduct with Parris, according to the suit. Parris said he eventually left the church and later found out from other young male church members that they too had sexual contact with the bishop, according to the suit. [ SOURCE ]
Not only was a third person added to the suit against Long, but some mobile pictures of the bishop have also been released. As a result, Bishop Long has cancelled his upcoming radio and television appearances.

This ordeal is such a shame, and he needs to come clean about any and everything even if it doesn’t include these allegations.

these boys were teenagers when this stuff happened allegedly.. 16 might be the age of consent but you are still a child and can be easily coerced by a 50 year old rich and powerful man, especially if you don’t have the influence of a strong male in your life. Why did it take so long for them to come out and talk about it? I do not know anything about this case/story until reading this. My two cents: do further investigating and it should not matter how many years later when an individual (or more) explains of abuse. These individuals/victims could possibly have been abused; remember individuals are scared to say anything from the start. If one individual has courage to say something than others may tell their story as well. Anyways, I am getting tired of hearing stories of religious leaders and their scandals. Please get your lives together and have self-respect!

@25, how does a 16 year old get molested? The same way a 1 or 2 year old becomes a victim. They may be older but seem these guys were in a trusting relationship with Bishop and they are alledging that he used that as an opprtunity to molest them. Teens may know what sex is and all but dont mean an adult should take advantage of them and molest or rape them. The law even states its statutory rape even if it is so called consensual with an adult. The Bishop and other adults know that. What is the whole point of him choosing young teens instead of grown men when there are plenty grown willing men around. He chose to target them because of their vulnerability. Without a father around and getting money, these boys probably felt they needed to continue because they needed their job he gave them and the gifts and so on to help their single mothers. You have to draw the line somewhere to protect kids even when they dont realize they need to be protected if it was some consensual episodes, that’s what is happening here. They now realize what really happened to them as they got older.

I would ask Pastor Long why would he feel the need to send pics to anyone. I would think once you reach a certain age or being the kind of powerful man that has rubbed elbows with presidents, taking bathroom pics will be beneath you; childish even. If he is that proud of his body and if someone wants to see it; they can attend a church service. Him taking the pics seem suspect just as him jetting off with young men overseas. Not accusing, but these are not wise decisions he has made; and will definitely raise some eyebrows.

I was listening to the Tom Joyner Morning show today online, I listen to it from Canada, they were saying the Bishop cancelled his interview on the show…. my thing is, if he said he didn’t do it, why he cancel the interview and the news conference?? It makes him look more bad…. A: his lawyer is not doing a good job to help the situation, he was on the radio and he made the situation worse, he was trying to brush off all the question that Tom Joyner commentor was asking him. In the case with Long, the boys would not have chosen to be with him in that way in the natural. They didnt know what he was working his way up to until it manifested. The continuation of the abuse happens for the same reasons molestation continues in other cases when a child gets older and comes into knowing what’s really going on, dont make the molestor right or justified. That’s revictimizing the victim, like asking a rape victim why you wore that short skirt or why you get drunk then. Being gay doesnt mean you should be objectified and abused either. If you can rationalize and excuse molestation in one situation, you will eventually in another because some grade school kids know about sex too because they have been exposed to it whether tv or other.
