Here’s Nicki Minaj’s promo video for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Nicki will give her first-ever televised solo performance during the pre-show with “Your Love” which is set to kick off Sunday, September 12, at 8 PM (EST).
In a statement announcing her participation, Nicki said:
“I am truly honored to be a part of this year’s VMAs. Just yesterday I was an underground female rapper. See, Barbz? Dreams do come true.”
She’s also offering to make 10 of her fans’ dreams come true by offering 10 front-row seats to her performance. For information on the contest, follow @NickiMinaj and @MTVTJ. Winners will be announced on Friday, September 10.

Well, I am not particularly a fan but I cannot deny that she does have talent and a way with performance. I would prefer to her to get deeper into the rapping. The animation and jibber-rap doesn’t entice me. But when I hear her just R-A-P I can feel that. Unfortunately what record companies want right now is a whole bunch of lights and visuals and flash, and she doing that. And what’s with the she’s copying Foxy Brown thing? Last time I checked they were BOTH Trinidadian so I don’t get it. If anything they are pulling from a Jamaican vibe (actually, that exactly what Foxy Did and what Nicki’s doing) because mi nuh know one Trini who talks like that (from a woman raised by Jamaicans).

I love Nicki, but I think she gets all the hate because she has positioned herself as an “outsider.” I don’t think Nicki even tweeted MC Lyte a “thank-you” for giving her props on her Bottoms Up verse. Nicki doesn’t seem to be with the in-crowd. Instead, she’s on the outside giving them shots: Foxxy, Lil Mama and most definitely Kim. She’s even giving shots out to “old wrinkled bishes” on her latest track with Will.I.Am. That verse could be offensive to people even outside of rap.
Kim’s first hit was in 1996. Now, listen to Nicki’s the Warning, and see if you don’t hear the song mentioning the words, “96″ and “Kim.”
Nicki is fly and her verses are clever. But it’s her personality that people find off-putting.

Nicki Minaj is a puppet, and your right she’s not trying to be a rapper. She wants to be a POP GIMMICK. There are female rappers out their but they aren’t on the forefront–and to dig deeper…The African American race is getting MK UTRA’ed with these african american artist they want to push now. Who wants their daughter to aspire to be Nicki Minaj? Yeah the girl you tryna get with, but not your daughter or your sister. I heard read a stanza of the Nicki Minaj verse on Monster and it was better than I’ve heard from here. But somebody mentioned that was just a mas-up of all her older lyrics, maybe they listened to her before? I talked to people that listened to her old music( hardcore nicki fans) and then when she started attention antics they were disappointed in her.

Check your local latin networks and you will see that latinos have it ALL.. news,talk shows, game shows,soap opera etc. BLACK WOMEN TAKE ACTION AND DO SOMETHING!!
