I know We should support Black films, but I just have to say that this looks like one of those movies played on BET that went straight to DVD. The storyline is good, but it just seems kinda cheap to me. *THIS IS MY OPINION*

  3. Sweet Pea

The movie look cheap. I will wait for the DVD! Lamman Rucker is fine! Is that all who showed up? WOW

  4. LeeLee

WOW! This could quite possibly be the most low budget movie of 2010.

  12. SAY HUH?

I am just juiced that Tyler Perry doesnt have a part in it! Will def support it for the eye candy alone. I love Lamann but I can not sit through even 5 min of Meet the Browns. Love Elise too so they will def get my $10 if it opens near me.

  13. marla boro

Did anybody notice Thelma from Good Times, she is still looking good.

  14. Court T.

the leading man looks like the guy that played the professor in the Parkers show.

  15. Mrs. Sk8board P (ak & bk stan)

I saw the commercial for this movie last night for the FIRST TIME, and I have to say this movie looks really bootleg. 4 people from the movie at the premiere? smh, my point exactly

  16. Alaina

Lamman will you please be my man. I will kiss it and make it all better lmaoooo

  17. AplmacLady

so what that it looks cheap, that’s how you get started. It looks like a great film. I will go support it.

  18. ATLANTAGEORGIA

OMG, I could eat him alive!!! I love this man!

  19. LTGRIGGS

Yes! @13…I did notice it was Ms. Stanis! Yes,she is looking and still doing her thing!

  20. Honest Critic

Elise Neal looks great!…I haven’t seen this movie previewed anymore so much props to CL for helping the promotions of black movies.

  21. VegetariansWillRuleTheWorld

    it really looks SUPER cheap.

  22. Queensafira

    It looks horrible!

  23. YES!!!

Nephew Tommy. and that womans last name is pronounced BOOTAY? How.Unfortunate.

  24. Somer

This is a straight rip off of Madea’s family reunion without Madea and the reunion. This is Blair’s Underwood’s character and story line all the way. Ms. Perry should consult his attorney.

  25. Debil's Advocate

SMMFH @ the ‘cheap’ comments. Really?!!? We don’t get enough movies as it is. I mean we have taken 10 steps back in the mainstream film world. The only person that gets money for a film is TP and most of that is HIS money. I applaud these people for keeping black film alive. The writing looks promising and I’m happy to see familiar faces like Tempestt and Bernadette.

  26. BE

“Expected to hit theaters on October 15″…. Expected being the key word. This looks like it’s going straight to DVD. Smh. What happened to the black film industry?

  27. skyy

yes it looks low budget but it still looks to have a good story line….

  28. RENEE

What happened to the black film industry US, read the above comments we don’t support. We have totally destroyed the movie and its not even out yet. Thats what we do, talk about each other, condemn and destroy. What ever happened to supporting, uplifting and promoting.

  29. SexyLegs

The movie looks like its gonna be good. Like someone said above me, I wait to catch on Netflix. Lamman Rucker is so fione.

Didn’t the insecure man play in Why Did I Get Married the play. I don’t like him.

  30. EPIC.FAIL.BLACK.PPL

first of all just because Im black and something in entertainment is deemed “black” doesn’t mean I should like/ nor enjoy it. Secondly, this movie looks like crap. The sad thing is, they wasted a lot of energy, time and money, just to produce another BAD MOVIE, with BAD ACTING, and BAD CASTING, and even worst WRITING.

It’s not about the “low budget,” I’ve seen people shoot short films, features, webisodes for next to nothing and the quality is high. It’s about the PRODUCTION VALUE. It’s 2010, you don’t need Avatar financing to get a drama to “work.” But what your a$$ does need are:
    1. An ORIGINAL story line. (Yes, all movies have been done, especially this tired version, therefore, you better have a majorly unique way of approaching the material, which this does not.
    2. Just b/c you cast Elise Neal, LaMann Rucker, the lady from Good Times, and a whole slew of “struggling to pay their mortgage, and somewhat past their time actors,” doesn’t mean you are going to get “great acting/performance.” Not one person in this film looks like they brought much, beyond some surface level cliche “acting like I’m acting” type of acting. versus “Being.” (Part of the problem, I’m sure is the writing, but nonetheless it’s an actor’s job to make choices.”

All in all, I say a big F* U to “black entertainment,” because it died a long time ago, and music died when Mike Jackson died last year. Nothing we do is creative, nor out the box, prolific, eye opening, universal, nor remotely interesting. That’s why we get no respect in hollywood, we are too busy perpetuating the brain washing that the media has instilled in us since the mid 90′s. Beauty shops, gang stories, over the top woe is me I’m a black woman or man, blah blah BLAH.

Black people need to step it up in Entertainment or just step to the side. B/c this sh#t is getting God awful.

  31. The Amen Corner

I agree with Epic.Fail. We must do better. Especially TPerry. Cause his shit is getting out of hand.

  32. damnairfresh

Can’t wait to see Thelma(Good Times). She still looks good!

  33. brownsuga710

Lammon, baby…you’re better than this. Fire your agent, boo.

  34. justcauseitsme2

Epic Fail have you actually seen the movie? You really have a bleak outlook on black cinematography. N-Secure the movie was well written. Technically it is one of the first movies to be filmed with red cameras( WTF is that).” Mr. Negro who knows” you don’t get a movie in theaters across the nation without a distributor unless the product is worthy. Case and point tell me a black movie that you know of that didn’t have a distributor and was featured in theaters in the top 50 African American populated cities. Hmmm, you can’t think of a one , can you. Get over it… this is a good movie with solid actors who are not cast in traditional stereotypical roles as pimps, drug dealers, Hoodlums, prostitutes and etc.

The producers of this movie have set a new paradigm for other young film makers to follow. Seeking advice in a workshop setting with these producers would be more beffiting than trying to crucify this marvelous effort. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. Wake-up… actually go see the movie and support it.

    just cause

  35. Jenkins

I am so saddened by the negative comments of (I am assuming) black folk on this movie. The very reason why many black people stay behind, won’t get ahead ! Can those who put down do a better job in acting?! This N-Secure movie is no different than, yet probably better than all the little soap opera’s you lazy onlookers support. Yeah support the white stuff but shoot down the black film. Feel good about you and your people , be happy and supportive. One of the commentaries is that it is a cross between ‘Fatal Attraction’ and ‘CSI’ now does that sound pretty good?

  36. tommykimon

Low budget it looks like it should”ve gone straight to DVD . I’ll wait for it to come out on DVD which will prob be about two weeks because I don’t foresee this movie staying in theaters too long.

  37. tommykimon

Another reason why this movie will suck. Nephew Tommy he is sooo corny on Steve Harvey.

  38. Jenkins

From saddened to maddened; All you negative nuts are sooo stupid! Must be really down on yourselves. What’s all this ” low budget” crap?!! Where did you get that information? Putting down the artist’s and talking about how cheap the work is. Damn!, What the hell you got to show for anything? At least they’ve( the stars) got something going for themselves! They can be happy because they’re doing what they love to do and they’re getting paid for it. How many of us can say that for ourselves? I ain’t mad at ‘em! I love it! I support as many positive people as often as I can; Especially my black brothers and sisters.

I will probably be banned from this website after this comment which is fine with me. I have had my say, and truly don’t care what will be said after this. Looking forward to the movie in the meantime enjoy life!

Taking a indie film and getting it in majors theaters in major cities accross the country is a monumental accomplishment. Haters like above barely can come up with a creative thought let alone something near the magnitude of making a movie with an allstar cast. Haters get real…..

    Just cause

  40. Doris
