CIARA IS A BEAUTIFUL PERSON INSIDE AND OUTSIDE AND SHE HAS A GREAT PERSONALITY WHICH IS SO IMPORTANT IN LIFE!
what happened to jill scott! she looks ridiculous.
The GOOD: Keyshia Cole (although she sounds atrocious) looks good. Her face is very pretty. Raven looks good too. And so does Toccara
The BAD and The UGLY: Jill Scott and Free
Back to work I go….
monica is engaged to a shannon who cant play ball to save his life
um. everyone looks healthy and alive? but lets keep it real..some of these ladies need to stop shopping at forever 21 and start looking into hiring a stylist. ALSO…who was the photographer for this event? Because 25% of these pictures are whack. You’re telling me that’s the BEST picture of Nia Long for the entire evening? smh
keri looks great that hair color fits her
free and keyshia cole look gross
jill scott wow shes look great
ciara outfit is soo cheap looking
Raven is fine……..
Then I saw Keyshia Coles performance outfit…..smh….I still think her face looks pretty.
And Keri….well nevermind
man i liked tocarra bigger im not really feelings her now. and free is looking older by the day
Raven has growin into a beautiful young lady. This is one BET award show I just might tune into.
Props to BET for spotlighting women in the music industry with this event + the Ladies of Hip-Hop documentary. About time they put some kind of quality programing on the network. If I flip the channel and see Babyboy, Waist Deep or Friday one more time I’m going to SCREAM!
Wow, Free looks a mess. What’s going on w/her hair, and why is she wearing white stockings??? Keyshia Cole needs a stylist ASAP. She was getting it together around the 2nd season of her show, but it looks like she’s dressing herself again.
SOME of them look nice.
How can “Black Girls Rock” without Beyonce in the house?
@MEAT ….I agree. Beyonce was needed…LOL.
Lemme stop befoer this turns into a Bey lashing….
Last thing, I think Estelle is very unfortunate looking….but she doesn’t look half bad here
@Dude-N-Htown, …I wonder if Bey was uninvited, because she and the host Nia Wrong don’t see eye-to-eye on the acting gigs?
I wish I was there celebrating with all the beautiful ladies! ! !
Turn down your dress Raven ! ! ! !- Hahahahahahaa I am joking……. You look great ! ! !
Beyawnce wants to be white therefore she was not invited.
I hope that they celebrate everyday black girls and not just singers.
Free sweetie sigh!!!!
Jill Scott … ok never mind.
Did you have to put them both in the same pic though !!! smh
HI CCL,
can you please find out where April W got her dress from…also is that a chain piece on her feet or does it come with the shoes?
Love the look!
Too many pics to comment on, so I will do the ones that caught my eye.
I hate Monica’s outfit, it looks manly for some reason
Free…dress is kinda tight
Keyshia’s boots are…the…BUSINESS!!
Raven lost some weight, get it girl!
Who the hell is VV Brown?
Keri’s trying to bring back hammer pants?
Joyful and Erica’s outfits look rather cheap
Sorry if some of you guys think that’s too “negative”, it’s just an opinion.
Also, what’s with all the damn black? I wish these celebs would stop looking so damn depressing all the time and add some color to their wardrobes.
Also, Adrienne isnt black so what is she doing there?
Marsha and Nia Long look good. I love Free to death but why does she have those boots on with that dress!
I’m so pleased that BET acknowledged black women in areas of entertainment, from the young to the well-refined. With that said:
-Lynn Whitfield and Ruby Dee look extraordinary!
-Not feeling Jill Scott’s hair ( prefer the natural look on her), but I applaud her for trying something different
-Ciara shouldn’t have been invited because she CANNOT sing, nor act. Her voice makes my ears bleed.
-And FINALLY, Beyonce is great at what she does, however, Jill Scott, Ledisi and Marshia Ambrosious have much better ranges, and can sing with way more passion and soul, WITHOUT shedding their clothes or losing their self worth in the process. And on top of that, Beyonce gets tons of recognition in the mainstream entertainment world, so everything does not have to be about her. Give the other f&b singers a night to shine.
I don’t understand why people leave comments that bash what other people are wearing unless you need to look at these celebrities for fashion ideas, rather than being yourself. Half of you women on here probably couldn’t afford the clothing these females are wearing. I’m tired of black women hating on each other, thats why there is no UNITY within the black community because everyone wants to hate on each other, rather than uplift. I don’t buy people’s music, or watch their movies based upon how fashionable they are.
YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO SUBSTANCE!!
Why the perm Jill Scott Why? who is gonna be my natural hair inspiration now huh?
Fantasia was there and looking beautiful. Why no pictures or mention of her; she was one of the performers!
VERY LESBIAN
First thing that came to my mind was no Beyonce or Rihanna? kinda defeats the purpose of the name…imo
But the ladies here are doing their thing so i cant even hate
Raven is so beautiful!
Keri Kilson……………………………………
Ciara is pretty but she’s doing the most with that pose.
That hairstyle really does not flatter Jill by any means.
Love Melinda.
@SHAYSHAY
Lol, thank you. That is what this perennial event….and all the other black female events that the white man concocts are actually all about. It’s to encourage the black woman to worship herself and obsess over herself so that she can indirectly worship herself. The white man uses the black woman as a pawn, a distraction, and most importantly, an obstruction. This is why the family unit is destroyed. The black woman has embraced whoredom/l*sbianism and calls it “freedom” and “strength”.
All these Lesbos
A bunch of sour insecure lonely bitter azz women. I never seen any of them with a man or hold one for more than a day.
Missy scares me. He-ara and Keyshawn Cole are definitely MEN!!!!!
I LOVE Marsha I cant WAIT for her album to come out!
I see Judah is back from selling newspapers and bean pies on the avenue…
EEWWWWWW!!!AHHHHHH!! WTF is Michelle Lewis. That thing has a p*nis.
Free is HIDEOUS!!! Never liked her ghetto azz.
I don’t understand why this is necessary. How does this show, or BET, benefit black people, or even the demographic it’s supposed to be celebrating? Are there proceeds going to a non-profit organization or something? It seems pointless. It’s like celebrating crackheads and trying to give them a sense of self worth instead of trying to rehabilitate them.
It bolsters the idea that black women are insecure and need to constantly reaffirm themselves with pomp and circumstance because they (and others) actually think that black women are worthless.
Black women, or black people in general, wouldn’t need things like this if they put more effort into educating negroes instead of entertaining them with nonsense. If you have the money to fund this kind of event, why not funnel it down more productive avenues? Not that BET is run by philanthropists….I’m just saying.
ruby dee so pretty. jill rocking gazelles…love it
love Ledisi..her shawl/coat is bad!

For some of you all to think Beyonce or Rihanna would show up to an event like this, you are baffling yourselves. They are too mainstream for this (as bad as it sounds, you know it’s true). With the exception of the BET Awards here and there, they don’t do other urban events, it’s written in their contract, lol.
It’s not about who is mainstream or not and there is no contract restricting them to some kind of awardshows. The event is about black girls. MTV’s star is Britney Spears. BET’s star is Beyoncé. PERIOD. Beyoncé’s creative director for her shows was even the one who put that show together. Im sure B got other stuff to do or didnt want to attend just like Rihanna. Beyoncé is the most powerful black woman behind Michelle Obama and Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige, Sade, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, India Arie, Erykah Badu, Solange, the Williams sisters, Halle Berry and more were probably in NYC but didnt attend. They all got different schedules and it’s not an obligation. Im tired of these hypocrite comments on this one wants to be white or this one is too mainstream or whatever whereas looking at these photos, 100% of these women are wearing weaves and extensions and would love that mainstream attention. Ppl have no right to talk about the other one.
And I dont get why ppl make comments about ppl hating, we comment on what we see, Jesus its not hate in our own community, if they look a mess, ppl are gonna talk about it, they are on the public eye’s judgement, it is what it is. And they are all beautiful but none of them present themselves in a decent way, they look a hot azz mess! Look at Ms Hilson or Jill Scott, Keyshia or Free? Do they think they look good with those hood rats outfits? I dont give a damn if they cost 100K, they look ugly.
I agree that shows like these make no sense. The most powerful black women in the business who can actually show that black women are ruling are not attending first of all and secondly, the ones who work hard everyday for education and their families and are not on the spotlight and not there as well to be acknowledged. Put this money into concrete help for young black girls who really need help to launch careers or even on a daily basis. For example, they could give Angel some help with her site which is positive or some random other positive black woman! Having some black celebrities with almost zero relevance in the industry congratulating themselves on how fly they look, posing for cameras, getting their checks for appearing and giving awards to each other doesnt do anything concrete. Specially when 90% of them never support themselves behind closed doors and are being hypocrites.
Monica Looked Gorgeous!! Her Hair Make Up And Clothes Were On Point!! I The L’wren Scott Tuxedo Top With The Leather Detail. Perfection!!
What a wonderful celebration and a great event. It is a shame that some people are so bitter at What Black women have accomplised.Love VV Brown, Estelle and Keri class acts.
All the ladies look SO dam fly!
Btw April Woodard’s body is on point!
Bey and us human don’t have any power only God and his son Jesus do
@YOUIKL, This show has been around for a couple of years, only this time, BET decided to produce it, this is not a Knowles production. Are you that blind to see that Beyonce doesn’t show up to other urban events besides to the BET Awards? The “written contract” comment was a joke and not to be taken seriously, it was to poke at the reality of it all, smell the roses. I know how powerful Beyonce is, and it would be nice for to attend a show like this, but it just isn’t likely. Oh and FYI, Beyonce was always an MTV star as well.
i don’t get when people say stuff like people are powerful..yet they can’t sway any of the important decisions needed to make the world or even their city better.. so what kind of ‘power’ do they really have.. fashion trends? fall hair color? what??? BUNCH OF CRAP…
everybody looks good and happy… but can someone tell me what the event is really about?
Keyshia Cole’s boots are banging! What are those? and I am loving the new found sexy diva Jill Scott….I see you working those thigh high boots momma! April Woodard’s shoes are great too….what are those?
Love Love Love Jill Scott’s new look! Everyone looks great.
Why is everyone trying to wear those thigh high boots? They are Not for Everyone!
I hate to say this but Jill Scott do not need thigh high boots on and Estelle needs to wear them to hide those legs, a mess!
#44 is an idiot no point in rationizing wit it
Wow… Jill Scott looks lke she lost some weight ..or maybe got a breast reduction. She looks great….of course she can never do any wrong in my eyes. Love her… love her music and energy as well.
@16meat: Come on! The music world rocked b4 bk and it will rock after her. I dont want to see her on every show. Im glad she wasnt there. Monica was there and she is fantastic. Missy (if she performed) def gets the party jumping.

How can “Black Girls Rock” without Beyonce in the house?
@17.Dude-N-Htown: Estelle cannot help how she looks. No 1 can.
It is our parents egg and sperm that decide that.
Estelle got braces which fixed her smiile and she is doing the best she can~

@MEAT ….I agree. Beyonce was needed…LOL.

Last thing, I think Estelle is very unfortunate looking….but she doesn’t look half bad here
Ruby and Lynn still look good! Mmhmm! I love Melinda Williams. She still looks the same as she did 20yrs ago. That chick hasn’t aged at all! I love her in What about your Friends with Lark Voorhies. Raven is a really cool chick. She is growing on me the more I see her outside the Disney lot. Why the hell is Adrienne Bailon there? She ain’t black! I know she wants to be but, nuh uh! What is going on with Free’s hair? hahaha. She needs to hurry up and make an album. Love Jill! Nia still looks good and Missy needs to get rid of that hair and eyelashes. It’s too much Missy. What happened to sexy Missy that used to wear that swoop over her one eye? Bring her back! I’m glad they have a show for black women because more often then not black women are put down as ugly or not pretty or sexy enough to be on the level of Whites, Hispanics or Asians. Even brainwashed our own people into thinking white/light is better and black is no good. The only ones that want black women are those tryna be black. The thing is I’ve seen more better looking natural Africans/Americans than the others combined. Now all they need is an awards show for Black men.
Jill Scott, I love your look girl !
I luv this!!! wil WATCH…a show without Beyonce getting the spotlight is good to see for a change…awwww
Where the he’ll is Whitney!
