I was able to watch the whole thing live and all it was very good. It was good to see Jay z do nothing but MAKE EXCUSES TO WHY HIS MUSIC IS IGNORANT AND DUMBED DOWN. He kept using the scapegoat of if you look at the “context” of what im saying….man STFU! He did however like in his book admit his music is stupid and ignorant…..wow took you to you were 40 to realize that drugs cars and hoes are frowned upon in civilization.
However he did try to dodge cornell west and the moderator’s questions of why he never followed his supposed want to be more intelligent gallantly. He did so by pointing out his undying support for Lupe fiasco(who was in the audience) which was supposed to be the balance he wants. Then the negroid talked about inspiration from coretta scott king, harry belafonte etc but once again when prompted on why WE NEVER SEE THE APPLICATION OF HIS INSPIRATIONS IN HIS MUSIC, the coward simply reverted back to the “context” of a hustler!!!!!!!!??????!!!!!!!!!
In all JAY Z is a average businessman and not a artist. And im sorry but anyone knows that you can build “gwap” by talking drugs on the radio and hire investors from the wharton school of business to tell you what to do with it. and investing in clothes, liquor and sports teams are not financial wizardry its regular mundane common got damn sence for someone with money who wants to make more!!!!

You made some good points. Jay-z is one of my favorite artists and I’ve criticized him for a lot of the things you mentioned and that’s why I can’t place him as the greatest ever, but he is one of the best to ever do it.

Jay was dropping gems. I watched the entire interview and I learned a lot and found added inspiration. I feel compelled to reply to your entire comment but I’ll keep it brief.
If what Jay-Z is doing so regular and mundane how come you haven’t done it? lol. How come more of his colleagues haven’t done it? Give credit to where its due. Be honest with yourself dude.
He’s taking hip hop to a place it has never been before. He’s successful… his story is compelling and he’s worked his ass off. Not to mention, he’s a pretty good rap artist.

I hate I missed this.. I started to watch it but thought I’d be able to catch it online somewhere. Anyway, I picked up a copy of the book today and it is great. Very well put together. If your a fan of Jay-z, hip-hop, or want to learn more about his life/career I would definitely recommend it.
