The performances were great! I truly enjoyed seeing singers that could really sing, and also seeing some artist I had never heard of. I only wished Anita would have performed! and Terrence and Taraji really didn’t add much to the show, they were just a little corny..

    OH SHEILA!!

I absolutely LOVE live performances! My favorite was the tribute to Anita Baker. I wish she would have sung as well. Every one was brilliant! We are missing real talent today! Thanks soul train!

It was actually a really good show, pretty good performances by Badu, R.Kelly, Anita Tribute, J. Sullivan, Keyshia Cole, and Neyo. I hate the fact that it was taped though, cause you definitely tell in audio quality and edited cutscenes. Taraji and Terrance weren’t as entertaining as last year though.

Why do people respect Keyshia Cole as a vocalist? She sounds a hot mess MOST of the time. All she does is scream. Her tone is horrid and I’m sick of people hyping her voice up. And did I hear autotune from her last night? smh

TAMIA MY GIRL!!! I really need for her to come back forreal and promote and perform everywhere she can. I love her voice so much.

I must say that I loved EVERYTHING about this year’s award show; only things I can say is that, although she performed well, Jazzy performance was “alright” for the show. I mean, even Bruno mars’ performance of his hit, “Grenade” was awesome! Also, the editing of the show was not the best either. I would’ve LOVED to see and hear Eric perform the piss out of his song, “Sometimes I cry”! But that’s alright, I’ll be seeing him, Fanny, Kandi, and still-handsome-and-sexy-thangggg-at-48 El DeBarge live in New Orleans this Saturday

    It’s all good

Oh, to say that she cares not what others think, Erykah was hiding that belly (not so well) on during her performance. You’re a proud mother and you and all your “brothers” get along, show off that beautiful bump (yessss, I’m drippin’ w/ sarcasm lol)….but I understand, let’s not take away from the matter at hand, The Soul Train Music Awards…Welcome Back

The woman who sang with Kem on the piano, during the Anita Baker tribute, was the Rachelle Ferrell. She’s definitely one of my all time favorite “vocalist”–which is something we’re missing in today’s industry.

OOOOOOOOkay… the was the best BLACK award show ever! Everyone did a great job… I agree about Keyshia, she just can’t sing but she is tryin to get better. Mr. I and R Kelly asked for her to sing that song for the tribute…. all those wonderful ladies who sang for Ainta KILLED it.. I love Layla Hathaway.. she can blow OMG!!! But to be honest R. Kelly was the BEST! Now that’s how u open a show! That was just beautiful, that man has a great voive and knows how to entertain… he has hits for days! The host SUCKED they did better last year.. they were a bit annoyin’ to me! BET should take note and give awards to the ppl who actually deserve it, Soultrain did a good job with being fair on that…. I’m glad R. Kelly is doing GROWN AND SEXY music again they are the ones who appericate his music. Goooooo head now! He had me screamin and jumpin up and down with that performance. Him and Beyonce knows how to open a show!

The award show looked like it was great, I did not catch it on tv last night, but just from what I’ve seen on these clips I already know it was amazing. First of all, Ms. Anita Baker, ah man she so deserved that honor and I am just glad that she recieved it while still in the physical. All the people who honored her tore it up. My girl Tamia sounded amazing, I miss her being around so much. R.Kelly bleeeeeeeeeew me away. I already liked that song and I was just listening to it while on the way back from NY today & I told my friend ” R.Kelly killed this, aint nobody messing with him” STILL. I will catch this when they reshow it and I have to say it is truly refreshing to just see talented people do what they do best, be it singing and or performing, nothing extra. No a@s or crotch shots were needed to make this show entertaining, just talent. Soul Train did it right and they put BET to shame, black people are the most beatiful talented gifted blessed people in the world, and The Soul Train awards took the fogged talent lens off of the cameras and showed the world what we working with, talent like NOOTHER. Tahts what talent is and that is how you do it!

When I see R.Kelley I cant get past those videos of him with those under age girls. Brotha has talent, but has a serious issue. Tarajii and Terrence got on my nerves. Too much playing, although her asscheeks did look good in those coochiecutters. I enjoyed the opening of the pre-show. That was fresh and different. Too much El Debarge though. Somebody really has a soft spot for him. Would have liked to seen my boy Eric perform. Manuela, Prince’s ex-wife looked a malnourished. Prince you should hook up with Sheila. EVERYBODY wants to see that. AJ would’ve had more fun hosting with Free. As a brotha, lost all respect for Chilli. Bringing her “What Chilli Wants” to the Soul Train awards to flaunt him off. You made it obviously clear that you aint down with the brotha’s anymore. Cee Lo is a joke and that Wolf Blitzer thing was even a bigger joke. Overall the show was good. Not as good as the shows of past but good. They should one day honor THE SOUL TRAIN DANCERS FOR ONCE! WE MADE THAT SHOW!

OMG R.KELLY just gave me goose bumps. GOSH he can sing he sounds even better Live.and thats saying alot because when singers come out and sing live u like damn how did he or she get a record deal.I haven’t watched the ST Awards,In the UK we have to wait a while longer before it sails to the other side of the pond. One thing for sure is im excited and will be waiting for it.(at least i hope feel like wasted my 2hrs like with the AMV’s which was so boring).

There were wonderful performances,to me I really enjoyed the Anita Baker tribute- Chrisette Michele, Tamia, and Lalah Hathaway. I have never seen Lalah Hathaway perform on television; and she has some of her father’s vocal traits! Erykah Badu was great! Bruno Mars was entertaining but I wanted more guitar playing because its sound was excellent to hear toward the end of the performance. Cee-lo Green was great during the Isley Brothers’ tribute, I have always been fond of his vocals.
