ALBUM REVIEW: KERI HILSON – NO BOYS ALLOWED

♫ Keri Hilson – Pretty Girl Rock

Keri Hilson is ready to take off with her second studio album, No Boys Allowed, IN STORES NOW.

LISTEN UP:

Keri released her debut album, In A Perfect World… just last year. The album spawned many singles, a couple Grammy nominations and solidified Keri with a successful transition from behind the scenes to the forefront.

With the sophomore effort No Boys Allowed, Keri again shows why she was one of the top writers in the game. The album title alone describes the fact that Keri’s dealt with her share of boys, but at this point and time in her life, she’s not even looking for or considering anything except a man. The album opens with the J. Cole-assisted, “Buyou,” and then explores female empowerment (see, “Pretty Girl Rock”), sexuality and, of course, the high and low points of a relationship.

What’s most interesting about No Boys Allowed is the fact that Keri chose to use a series of interludes as a means of creating a seamless flow to the album. The songs all make sense together with the melodic interludes that Hilson created for transition. She fuses soul elements, pop sounds, ’80′s synths and even touches on some reggae all through the album, with great cohesion. This isn’t much of a surprise, considering Keri’s musical versatility and background.

No Boys Allowed shines best on songs like “Toy Soldier” (written by Ester Dean, produced by Danja) and the Timbaland-produced, “Beautiful Mistake.” There’s a great mixture here, which is the best for listening. There’s a mood and sound for everything, with still staying consistent to the concept of the album.

I Love It !!!!!!! But, Why can’t people just say they don’t like it instead of writing a paper about it ?!?!

It’s funny how Ciara fans are still going on about her when she bombed. Be mature and lose gracefully. Keri sold 102k in her first week. 8k more than her debut. Those who think IAPW was better, don’t blame you. But that album had a specific type of fans. NBA is more diverse. I read a comment saying Bahm Bahm is the worst and another saying it’s the best. There is a song for almost everyone on this album and that’s what makes it better than her debut. I agree that she should have thought over Breaking Point as a single. I personally love it but could tell it wouldn’t get far. When I first heard The Way You Love Me, I thought wtf is this. She had me nervous for a while but having gotten the album I’m convinced she’s heading in the right direction. All you haters are hating just to hate. ‘get yourself together don’t hate(never do it)’. Buyou is gangsta, PGR grows on you and so does Bahm Bahm, One Night Stand may just get you all hot and bothered, Lose Control is a definite hit, Toy Soldier is fly, Beautiful Mistake is one to make you sigh, Gimmie What I Want makes me wanna move and All The Boys just goes straight to your heart. This album is way worth the trouble. Even the bonus tracks are sexy. Funny how my least favourite bonus track is Fearless yet some of you its the best. I love Lie To Me, Hustler mellows me down, Won’t Be Long doesn’t try too hard thus it’s refreshing and So Good reminds me of my home Africa. And if you don’t like it, just buy it to go burn it:P

Where the hell did all of these Skeri Hilson stans come from? This album is god awful and extremely immature and bubblegum! Skeri is a horrible songwriter and doesn’t even fully write her own songs. Just like many other singers, she has 2-4 people help write every song of hers or just write the songs! Her song lyrics are so generic, cliche, repetitive, and just stupid. How old are you Skeri… 29 or 15? In A perfect World wasn’t amazing but it was definitely better than this mess and more grown up. I can’t believe so many people are acting like this young R&B crappy music she has made is really showing that she’s diverse. She’s not a music artist whatsoever. And I thought Beyonce and Ashanti’s writing was bad and so damn childish? Shoot, they’re singles are 10X better than Skeri’s. Her music now-a-days is along the lines of Ciara’s, Cherish’s, Usher’s (which sucks now), and Bobby Valentinos. Plus, I wish people would stop acting like she’s pretty because she’s light skinned. She’s ugly and looks like a parrot and BIG BIRD. She looks like a drag queen in the pic above.

Can you say her real name please?? I bet ur not really decent yourself period!! You have an ugly personality and honestly no one will deal with that period!! Can you make an album yourself and sell? I think not!! Try yourself and be in the music scene, you wouldn’t last 10 seconds. I hate people like you who thinks they know music, and they don’t. Think before you talk, Thank you!!
