♫ Kenneth Whalum III – If We Try
As a brilliant composer, arranger, bandleader, and tenor saxophonist, Whalum is excited to release his highly anticipated album, To Those Who Believe. He’s been working quite hard on making sure that the project is right and ready for release on iTunes next week, December 21st.
In addition to working on his debut album, Kenneth has worked with some of the industry’s biggest names. He’s toured with the likes of Sean “Diddy” Combs, reportedly wrote horn arrangement for Jay-Z’s popular song “Roc Boys (And the Winner Is)” and is featured on his American Gangster album. Most recently, he toured the world with R&B crooner Maxwell in addition to being on records with Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, multi-platinum artists 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Al Green, Mary J. Blige, Ciara and provided recording accompaniment for Fantasia, Beyoncé, and Joss Stone, while still finding time to graduate from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in 2008.
To Those Who Believe will make its way to iTunes next week, Tuesday, December 21st. And make sure to keep up with Kenneth by following him on his Twitter, @kennethwhalum as well as on Facebook!

Yes Yes Yes the Jazz game will never be the same be blessed my brother you haven’t seen nothing yet!
yup im a fan already!
This was really great! I loved the music. Very relaxing
He didn’t write the horn arrangement for “Roc Boys (And the Winner Is)” (2007). That was a sample from “Make the Road by Walking” by The Menahan Street Band (2006).

But he did arrange the horns for Jay-Z’s tour. And in no way am I throwing shade. He is a very talented artist. I just like giving props where they are due. And I am looking forward to the album.
I am loving the talented brotha the music is very soothing and melancholy…
sounds good!
Well ‘Dig Deep’ It actually doesn’t say that he “wrote” the horn parts. It says that he arranged them, which doesn’t mean he has to invent the part. And after listening to the link you supplied there are many more horn parts in Jay-Zs version. I think the music sounds great though!
Saw him on tour with Maxwell. He’s a cutie.
Ahh I’m jealous.
I used to play the saxophone in elementary school and in my first year of high school .. I loved it.

Bro. Rose.. I’d be willing to BET you that this powerful brother has an equally powerful and engaging WIFE who is black and that God is preparing to bless them with a beautiful BLACK young baby. How much you got? *smh and wonders why idiots post without knowing even 1/2 the truth*

English Rose,
Kenneth is married to a black woman and they are expecting their first child soon. Her name is Crystal and they met in college while he was at Morehouse and she was at CAU.
Stop assuming that every successful black man doesn’t date black women.
Successful men want beautiful women and that comes in all shades, sweety.
Mad because you’re not pretty enough to pull a baller?
