Eve breaks her silence and shows us that she’s getting back into the swing of things with a brand new song, “Hot Steppa #1.” The track that is produced by and features longtime friend and collaborator, Swizz Beatz isn’t on her upcoming fourth studio album, Lip Lock, but just a taste of what fans can come to expect from the rapper, who hasn’t released an album since 2002′s Eve-O-Lution.
No word on a solid release date for Lip Lock, however Eve says we can look forward to an early 2011 release.
Sounding good, Eve is back on the grind, female rappers is back on the rise in 2011…I Think! Nicki sparked something!

Eve, Kim, Missy are coming back, Lauryn also said she will possibly record another album! I’m excited, especially for Missy & Lauryn! We will finally have different females in the rap game to show how it’s done. The track is okay but I love Eve, her last album was amazing and so was ‘tambourine’!

When I saw the image I thought it was M.I.A. for a second. I was surprised to see it was Eve. The song is aiiiight. But I do like her spitting “hard” vs. being clubby. There should be a female who can spit has hard as males do without looking slutty whilst doing so.

Actually, I think Nicki did raise the bar. She isn’t your “average” rapper. She puts a lot of personality into it. Hate her or love her, but she is hot right now and she has a large following.

I am confused why people constantly feel the need to compare Nicki to every chick that ever rapped…It doesn’t make sense. I like Eve, but that doesn’t mean I am going to bash Nicki. If you are going to comment on the song, or Eve as a person, do so, but what does that have to do with Nicki?
Ofcourse Nicki and Eve have 2 different styles of rapping. Eve entered the rap scene in the late 90′s, people will surely rap differntly 10-11 years later.
Then there’s the comment about Swizz using the same beat over and over again. It’s not the same beat, it’s a signature sound. When people want that sound they go to Swizz. Most producers have a signature sound ie. Rich Harrison, Neptunes, even Missy has a signature sound when she produces.
I swear, I feel like sometimes some people just get on here to hate on someone else because they are unhappy with their mediocre lives.

well his signature sound is played out even the neptunes changed it up on their last album. with time comes evolutiion if his beats dont evolve than his career isnt going to either. not hating just telling the truth. eve needs a new sound that swizz isnt giving her. it sounds like a recycled beat to me and others as well. what was the last hit swizz had with that signature sound ummmmmmm

Eve is known for spitting extra hard…swizz said his self that’s what set her apart from other female rappers. I love her “spitting hard” because it reminds me of her first CD. To me Eve has always been my favorite female MC because she gave me relief from all the “whorish” raps that Lil Kim and Foxy (and now Trina) was spitting. I will be getting this cd.

I think all the Nicki comparisons are appropriate. People are entertained, but they’re not really satisfied. It’s like being really hungry and someone giving you some awesome dessert. It’s good, but it’s not filling. Nicki is dessert. And too much of her is going to make us sick. We need some real meat and vegetables (e.g. old Lauryn Hill-like) to balance it out.

I LOVE Eve…mainly b/c she doesn’t feel the need to be overly sexual to be a significant female rapper. And to hear her return to her more rough edge lyrics is refreshing too. She can really navigate the more rough to more pop sound and not lose her fan base b/c of it. Glad to see her back!

She like Shawnna, Missy, Left Eye and McLyte, Foxy Brown, Da Brat and Queen Latifah could and can rap to any beat about any subject and stay on the subject without then talking about their stuff and home much ice they got etc… if the song didn’t pertain to that subject.
