On Friday, President Barack Obama signed the $858 billion Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 into law which provides tax relief for families around the country and prevents a massive tax hike next year.
In his remarks Friday afternoon, the President said “by a wide bipartisan margin, both houses of Congress have passed a package of tax relief that will protect the middle class, grow our economy and create jobs for the American people“.
This bipartisan effort was prompted by the fact that tax rates for every American were poised to automatically increase on January 1st. If that had come to pass, the average middle-class family would have had to pay an extra $3,000 in taxes next year. That wouldn’t have just been a blow to them — it would have been a blow to our economy just as we’re climbing out of a devastating recession.
According to a fact sheet from the White House, nearly half of all African American children will benefit from the expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.

Actress/comedian Niecy Nash was spotted Thursday night (December 16) struttin’ in a flattering blue dress alongside electric engineer and her husband-to-be, Jay Tucker. The couple were on their way to Boa Steakhouse in West Hollywood, California. The television personality recently shared a few pointers on dating, courting and the importance of building a strong, lasting relationship:
“If you plan to do everything at the start, I guess you plan to do everything moving forward,” says television personality Nash, who cautions that what you do at the start of a relationship will be expected of you through the courtship and, potentially, into marriage. “You want to lay the foundation for what your relationship is going to become,” she says. And if you start out doing everything, you can’t ease up once he’s hooked and expect to remain happy as a couple, says Nash who was engaged in September to electrical engineer Jay Tucker and knows a thing or two about impressing a man. “I don’t plan on doing it all,” says the 40-year-old Nash. “I just think you get into a trick bag if you start something you don’t want to finish.” [Source]
