Twenty-five year old Reginald Doucet Jr. was shot and killed in front of his home by the Los Angeles Police Department early Friday morning, after refusing to pay his cab fare.
According to reports, residents of Playa Vista heard a man yelling and saw him running around outside completely naked. When police arrived, he was wearing only boxer shorts and arguing with the cab driver who had driven him from a bar in Hollywood. The driver said Doucet did not want to pay his fare, then took his clothes off and started jumping on parked cars.
Police say they struggled with Doucet, and one of the officers drew his weapon and fired, killing him. The officers involved were reportedly taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, including a sore jaw.
Doucet was a former quarterback at Middle Tennessee State University and a personal trainer. He had also done some modeling and was featured in Essence’s Eye Candy section.

If this is true on how Reggie acted, he had to have had some mental issues! And in that case, black ppl need to stop sweeping mental illnesses under the rug in our community! But at the end of the day, this man didn’t need to get shot and killed, i pray for his family!

here is still a lot to be sorted out with this case but my contention is that most of the comments except of those by the “racist” are all against the police before the facts even come out. We have not heard the full investigation but we do know a man running naked in public is a strange thing to see and the police who do a dangerous job deserve not to be vilified unjustly and deserve our respect for providing security in a violent world. Research some on Mexico or what is going on in Haiti, the people are begging for police, there are murders, rapes,kidnappings, and robberies daily with no letup because lack of a strong forceful police presence. Stop bashing the police that is all I am saying. The cop may have been wrong, but is it because he is evil or maybe just made a bad decision during a chaotic stressful moment. The people posting are complaining about the racist but they do not realize how racist all the posts here sound.
Erratic behavior doesn’t necessarily need erratic responses like this one, but the law allows officers to use deadly force if they feel that their lives are in immediate danger. Had they tased him and done it early on, people would still probably focus just on the fact that he was naked and unarmed, not that he was struggling with the officers.

I used to be a cab driver and I have had passengers who did not have enough to cover the fare. No one was shot and the police were not called. It is a tragedy that yet AGAIN here we are discussing a wrongful death by hands of the P.D. It does not matter what the situation was he did not need to be shot. It is a shame that blacks continue to die this way. As if we do not kill each other enough, we have the help of the police. As for the racist comments my people are used to being hated for our beautiful skin tones, our full lips, our ‘satisfying’ men, our big breasted, big behind women, the fact that we dominate in most sports, our forgiveness even in the face of racism, and our determination to never stop! We have been given no breaks but still manage to survive. This story really hurts my heart and it does appear officers have license to kill.I am very tired of Police getting away with murder. If someone had broken Reggie’s jaw and he had killed them he would be in prison. I don’t believe he broke or attacked the officer at all but of course they have to come with something. Reading the post from people who knew him and the fact that this man was drinking and did the responsible thing and took a cab home instead of drunk driving shows good character. Exactly, KRS ONE’s song “Black Cop” is exactly on point. A few weeks ago the same thing happen here (Baltimore). A black cop got into a fight with another black man, shot and killed him, and then was shot and killed by his fellow officers, since he was in plain clothes and did not identify himself as an officer. In my 33 years on this planet, I have never been harrassed by a white police officer, only black officers. In this situation racism does not play a part, but simply self hatred. What threat does a half-naked unarmed man pose? Certainly not a threat to be shot, pepper spray would have been enough to subdue the young man, not gunshots.THE BEST WAY TO EXTERMINATE A RACE IS TO TURN THEM AGAINST EACH OTHER. Reggie was such a happy part of my life.I used to date him for a few years while he was in MTSU. He was always such a warm inspiring wonderful and talented young man. I remember introducing him to my mom and she couldn’t believe how beautiful he was inside and out. I hadnt spoke to him these past few years and now I wish I had. This story makes no sense to me. Reggie never did drugs and rarely drank.He was an athlete and took care of himself. In my heart I feel like he got involved with the wrong croud or someone put something in his drink. This wasnt Redford character at all and it is baffling to me. My words go out to Alex and his mom and dad as well as his beautiful baby girl and her mom. Reggie may you rest in peace! We love you!
