Oprah Winfrey’s new television network, OWN finally made it’s debut on Saturday (January 1) on cable networks around the United States. Among the many shows added to the network’s line-up is a documentary series entitled Oprah Presents: Master Class. This original television series will feature the inspiring life stories and lessons of some the influential figures in politics, television, film and music such as autobiographer/poet Maya Angelou, political scientist/diplomat Condollezza Rice and actor/director Sidney Poitier. However, the first aired episode spotlights the inspiring journey of rapper/entrepreneur Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and what he has learned during the highs and lows of his life and career:

“I think excellence is being able to perform at a higher level over and over again. You can hit a half court shot once. That’s just the luck o f the draw. If you can consistently do it, through eleven championships like Bill Russell, then that’s excellence. Having success for a year or two that called being hot. We call that hot.
