Looks like Usher is in hot water with his fans in Germany. The singer delayed the Berlin stop of his OMG! tour on Thursday after a showcasing some odd behavior while on stage.
A couple of Concrete Loop readers from Germany sent in their account of what happened at the concert, as well as video. Read one summary below:
Hey Concreteloop! Im from Germany and Im pretty sure that almost no one of you heard about the BIIIIIIIIIIG Usher scandal in Germany. Yesterday (January 12) Usher had his first show of his OMG Tour in Germany/Berlin. Fans waited more than 40 minutes until the management canceled the show because Usher “wasn’t feeling well” and they postponed it to today (January 13).His fans had to wait about 40 more minutes today until he came on stage. There were five songs (sung only playback not live), interrupted by several 5-minute breaks during which Usher left the stage without further announcements and a “DJ” took over for a few minutes.
Then the fiasco took its course: as Usher sang a song which he sang “wrong and crooked”, he interrupted the song and gave an excuse for the cancellation of the previous day. While trying to sing everybody booed at him.
After he had sung for like another 10 seconds, he went off the stage. The lights went on and the concert was over.
Fans from all over Germany, Austria and other countries came to see him and then something like this happened. No one knows exactly what happened, if he’s really ill or if he took drugs, too much alcohol.. I thought this might be interesting for you and sorry for my bad English!
Usher released a statement to the press in Berlin claiming sickness and that he didn’t “feel that I could put on the show that my fans deserve.”

I heard that Usher was sick. I’m pretty sure that he probably wasn’t the one who rescheduled to perform the next day. It was probably his contract. It’s sad, but it’s a reality. Health FIRST and FOREMOST! It’s unfortunate but it’s reality.

I’m with V… there has to be more to the story. He’s been performing with a dislocated rib for the past couple of months and finished the show that he dislocated it at w no one even knowing that it was broken. So even if he were a little sick, he more than likely would’ve made the effort.

There is no adjusting, you can either perform or you can’t perform, Your either dancing and singing at an usher concert or your not dancing and singing so what are you talking about. I think your looking past the fact that despite what ever was going on with him, he did decide to perfor which shows he was commited. but even that was not apparently not enough which I guess why he pulled a charlie murphy and walked off half way through, but for him to do that it had to have been serious.

i agree beyonce performs sick all the time. toni braxton performed with a twisted ankle and a cold. whitney sang live with a sinus infection. janet performed dizzy and nausous and sang live in 08 t-boz of tlc performed straight out of her hospital bed many times. point is puttin effort in. he couldve slowed down songs did alternate versions like whitney did.
If your ass know you are sick then why going on the stage anyway if ya know you gonna let down the fans? Especially if its a repeadted incident? Just cancelled and give their money back or postpone! Well I don’t know the whole story. Let’s hope it wasn’t drugs. But he shouldn’t have came out like that if he knew he didn’t feel good. I think it would have been better to further post pone the show to later date rather than the next date if it’s serious like that. Cause this was not a good look.

There definitely has to be more to the story, but c’mon now… Beyonce was performing onstage during one of her tours, fell down a bunch of stairs, and hit the floor hard as hell with the front of her face and still got up and finished the performance! Do you know how much that must have hurt? Anybody wouldve ran off seeking medical help! He may have been drinking alcohol before the show but if he did, what a stupid thing to do? To be honest Ushers performances suck. He doesnt have IT anymore and frankly, he was never an amazing performer, just all hype. I lost more respect from him ever since he decided to switch over to pop. How do you go from doing straight R&B and urban crossover to euro pop?
I totally agree he wasn’t great when he came to my city. After the first song, he was hyperventilating. He went to the next song barely able to sing the second song. In my opinion Trey Songz tore it up without all the pyros and dancers hell Trey Songz don’t even dance. I believe Usher is noticing the cheers are alot louder and the crowd is more hype for Trey. For some reason after Usher married and divorced ole chick he lost that “umph” he had..So this article comes to no surprise when I read it…I have been to see him recently and witnessed his horridous performance hell I actually left it was so bad. People can and do get sick. You can’t expect for someone to be 100% at all times. Not to mention it is still winter. Flu season. I’m sick with a cold every other day with this weather. And I’m sure taking medicine and getting rest isn’t something really in the cards. You have to fly here and there and practice and Usher is father so he can’t neglect his kids like that. He probably didn’t want to cancel again so just went on sick. But that was a bad idea. You can’t assume that everyone that has sick days are hiding something like drugs. Some people are just truly sick. All his shows so far have been great but I guess people oversees don’t pay attention to that.

Bottom line. I am paying my money to go see someone at live. I expect them to be on point once they hit the stage. Anything less then that is unprofessional. Wow Usher has so many insensitive fans, how is he suppose to perform with an upper respiratory illness, it would be very difficult for him to give his all during a performance and it showed. Any ways he just finished up his long US OMG Tour so yes the man is tired let his body heal he is human like us all. Plus Usher never lost it, he is still consistent & outselling the male r&b artist thats in the game right now.
Then don’t show up. Refund my money… and i will see you when you get better. I am a fan and will always be a fan. But I don’t want to go threw the motions of getting ready to see an awesome concert and then all i get is disappointment. He did make himself and his brand look bad. But if his fans are his fans, they still will be there for good music.
While it seems like more was going on than “just an illness”, it kind of makes me feel bad that people can be so cruel to this man – even after all he’s done in the music industry. So what, you got your hopes up and he had to cancel – does this really justify all the shit-talk? This man is human – he is going to disappoint sometimes. He is not perfect. This is why I’m glad I chose not to go into the music industry – people turn so easily on you.

I was pissed when Lauryn Hill canceled a concert I bought tickets for (after waiting about 3 hours to see her)… but I also didn’t throw her name in the dirt. I guess I’m just a concerned Ursher fan who really doesn’t want to see him go down the tubes (drugs, mental illnes, etc..). I was really responding to a few people who were taking really personal shots at him over the net (calling him a crack-head, still talking about his ex-wife…). And yeah, my employer always expected me to show up and didn’t give a damn about my health or my safety. I would be thrown under the bus for calling in sick. That’s why I quit and am my own boss now.
PS. He needs our support and prayers more than anything else right now. Must be tough….
He probably was sick, and when you are on tour it’s important that you get rest, no partying, and rest your voice. Usher you are getting older, so your body is going to reflect that.
Usher is a trooper. Still, he must put his health first. I doubt that he wants to disappoint his fans and mess up his paycheck.
