On Sunday night recording artists, musicians, songwriters, producers and more all came together to celebrate award nominations and winners at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards held at the Staples Centers Arena in Los Angeles, California. The award ceremony highlighted performances by artists like Jennifer Hudson, Cee-Lo, Rihanna, Drake and Lady Gaga as well as newcomers like Justin Bieber, Jaden Smith and Bruno Mars. I love the intro for the tribute to aretha but the rest of the show was just reused played out mess 4rm 2010! Nobody performance was somethin that i couldnt wait to see an sing along to because we have seen all these people perform the same song over and over on award shows! I can only guess rihanna is going to do the samething this weekend for the nba all star weekend!

Award shows are becoming..well, boring. It seems like nothing new happens. The same ppl are doing the same things, singing the same songs, with the same lyrics, dancing the same way, and almost wearing the same thing too. Idk anymore…

The only performance that had me watching completely was Bieber & Usher. I just lived how proud Will and Jada looked when Jaden came out. Lady Gaga had me dazed and confused the whole time; Bruno Mars, despite his real talent, couldn’t hold his own performing live which shocked me. Rihanna and Drake was boring, hell I thought she danced better in the little rehearsal vid I saw earlier. Nothing was just great to me….but there were very cute outfits on the red carpet!

I also liked Mick Jagger and Raphael Saadiq’s tribute to Solomon Burke; as well as Norah Jones, John Mayer and Keith Urban doing Dolly Parton’s Jolene. Oh, and Cee-Lo killed the performance. I was just dumbfounded by his outfit.

Bruno Mars wasnt at his best vocally, he had a hard time, Bob was ok & Janelle rocked even though she hold it back a lot of her energy! Loved the performance.

Cee-Lo & Gwyneth – I was surprised. I knew they were performing together and I didn’t know why but it was a good performance. Cee-Lo’s costume .. no comment.
Rihanna & Drake – of course Rihanna had to turn things up a notch .. I only really liked the “remix” part of it.
Bruno Mars – loved his performancee !! I heard he wasn’t feeling too well.
Jaiden Smith – Will was saying “that’s my baby” .. he did pretty well.
Lady Gaga – that song is a mess and I can’t stand her. She’s so extra.

I would say that this grammy’s was’nt that bad. The usher/bieber performance was pretty upbeat and featured some amazing dancing and stunt work from his dancers. My question is is this. Do some of these performers actually see what they are wearing? It seems each artist will do anything to have the most outrageous and ridiculous looking outfit or “halloween costumes” coupled with performances that are anything “but” show stoppers. Surprised john mayer did’nt match his white suit jacket with the kkk hood he left at home. Every time i see janelle monae I have the sudden urge to watch the movie ‘jungle fever”. Lady Antebellum? Prior to watching the Grammy Awards, I loved the song “Need You Now” though I didn’t know who made it or that there was even a group by that name. When they walked up to receive the first Grammy, I was singing along to the song, and was like, “Yeah, I like that song.” Then it occurred to me, “Doesn’t antebellum have something to do with the Civil War?” And sure enough after a quick Merriam Webster word search, I was reminded of the fact that the word “antebellum” refers to things which existed prior to the Civil War; i.e., SLAVERY.
Subsequent to a quick Google Search, I read that the band supposedly chose the name after touring the south and falling in love with antebellum homes; i.e., SLAVE PLANTATIONS. I can understand how one might initially find beauty in antebellum architecture, but when you come to realize that men and women and children were enslaved, beaten, raped, bought and sold, maimed (ear cut off for running away), hobbled (Achilles Tendon severed for running away), and victimized on these lands … the architecture should lose some of its luster! You have to be more socially responsible than that. To be an internationally known–Grammy-winning group–that is not something you should want to be associated with, nor propagate.

It was a nice show, not sepctacular, but better than last year. The Aretha tribute was nice. Lady Gaga was…….interesting, she is becoming more and more like a Madonna clone by the minute, but it’s Gaga. I really liked Janelle, B.o.B., and Bruno and I liked how they introduced them as a young and I think underdog talent, and they SHOULD have walked away with one a piece. Katy Perry was better than the AMAs, and once again, she walked away with nothing for the 3rd year in a row, I actually feel very bad for her now. Rihanna’s performance made me question why is she selling records and even a artist. I mean for real after all these years you’d think that she’d paid for some dancing and singing lessons. Riri’s non singing voice took her to new embarassing heights. Adam Levine couldn’t even stay in tune with her horrific singing and audience members were trying not to laugh.
Her performance with Drake nailed her. The audience was overly done with her bad singing, stiff gyrating and sexual explosions of nothing. She played herself and is the laughing stock today.

Aretha Tribute was great..christina aguilera ( altho she a lil chunky now) killed it..she has an amazing voice..idk if anyone peeped when she fell..Jennifer hudson looks beautiful..she lost weight and altho some folks are hatin on her weight loss, she looks great to me..Lady gaga was the same ol crazee antic performance..she just tries too hard..but she is a great singer and truly talented in her own cuckoo way! Rihanna and Katy Perry tried to out-bad-sing each other. Rihanna’s was so bad she knew it herself when it was crickets throughout and at the end they looked liked they wanted to throw the cardboard from inside the toilet tissue rolls at her from that fiasco she wore on the red carpet.
Cee-Lo’s performance topped everybody. I love the song and the set up. I couldn’t stop laughing. It definitely woke me up from the boredom. Justin and Jaden had a great performance. My favorite part was when they showed Will and Jada being proud parents jamming to the music. I also liked the Aretha tribute. My favorites were J.Hud, Yolanda Adams, and Martina McBride. Christina did too many runs for my liking, but at least she remembered the words.
I forgot to mention Bruno/Janelle/B.o.B. performance. Bruno shut it down. Definitely loved the black and white American Bandstand feel it had to it. I would’ve loved for them to have done Tightrope (WOndamix).
I’m glad I didn’t watch this… it seemed boring but I did get to see all the performances online. Nothing I haven’t seen before. I knew Rhianna and Drake were going to hump each other on stage the minute I found out that they were preforming together. What a waste. They seemed bored with her performance.
