Milli Vanilli Biopic In The Works

Remember the lip-synching 90s duo Milli Vanilli? Well it is reported that a biopic film about the highs and lows of their career is finally in the works. German director Florian Gallenberger has signed on to write and direct the movie about the shortlived pop sensation. Milli Vanilli (Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan) were awarded a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1990. Four days later, the award was revoked after it was made known that the duo were not the real singers on the “Girl You Know It’s True” chart-topping single. Sadly, the duo were never able to successfully release music with their own voices. No word on when the movie will be released.

I could soooooo see Jesse Martin playing the deliciously talented and sorely missed Marvin Gaye. They look very similar and Jesse can sing and act (remember Rent?).
I would be sooooooooo pissed if the movie that came out was the Terrence Howard one. I honestly don’t think he could pull off the role. Im already dreading seeing him as Nelson Mandela in Winnie.

I think the directors should reach out to Maxwell for the Marvin Gaye role. He truly captures Marvin’s sexiness in the way he moves, dresses, and has a beautiful voice like him too. I think that would be a sure win!

  3. smythnwesson

I suspect Milli Vanilli’s crap will only be a hit overseas. *shrugs*

  4. Steffy

Please not Terrence Howarad! Maxwell would be good too with his sexy voice & moves, he would kill Sexual Healing but Jesse would be a excellent choice also.

  5. DIORULEUX

what’s with all of these bio-pics being made? who’s next? flava flav?

  6. Kitt

I’m looking forward to the Milli Vanilli – I always wondered what really happened. Everyone in the music industry made them out to be a joke – but they had some pretty decent songs. I will definitely watch it (on DVD).

I eagerly await this movie too. It is an unbelievably touching true story
about this band where failure pushed one of them to the brink,
while the other one could reinvent himself and come out stronger.

  7. and.im.not.here.for.that

Instead of singers turned actors, they should find some new talented & real actor to play the role. They could easily put Marvin’s audio if the actor cant sing. Cant wait though!!
Whatever happened to Mary J playing Nina Simone? I was looking for that! Anyway congrats!!

  8. Godiva 1

Mary’s 44?! I thought she was younger! And I can see either Usher or Maxwell
    Playing Marvin Gaye

  9. Be Original

The role of Marvin Gaye should be played by Jesse L. Martin. No discussion is needed. The problem is that this project has stalled and never took off for over 5 years. I’m growing restless. I won’t settle for anyone else in this role.

    • PoohCandy1

I agree! 100% co-sign. I think Jesse would be perfert. He’s a really good actor, can sing and dance and he looks a lot like him. He’s the perfect choice.

  10. Diego

    Congrats Mary!!!!!!!!!

  11. redmoon1

I am a true Marvin Gaye fan, I have hoping that his life story be told. I thing Usher should play the young Marvin, his hard work and personality renibds me of Marvin.

  12. kntmusiclover

JESSE MARTIN.. JESSE MARTIN JESSE MARTIN

    AND NOT TERRANCE HOWARD!!!

Mary really isnt an actress and the Milli Vanilla Story might need to be on VH1 like their behind the music episode.. not in the theaters at all.

  13. Maria

    Who will play Rob Pilatus?

  14. Maria

    He was very handsome.

  15. ZEE

I can see Andre 3000 playing Marvin Gaye. Same build, and kinda looks like him.

I just hope they don’t choose Terrance Howard… he gives me the creeps.

  16. dondiva

Jesse Martin already has the role of Marvin the film is currently being filmed.

  17. Lashon

Jesse should get the role. He’s a very talented singer/actor. Maybe Terrance Howard should play Smokey Robinson!

  18. She

Usher or Maxwell would be good!

  19. KIDDO

I think Usher should play Al Green! I know this is about Marvin Gaye, but I have the old Soul Train cd’s and ooh my Usher look just like Al especially in the nose area! that would be Great!
and yeah Jesse should play Marvin, that’s a good look!
    and Howard should play Smokey!
and Queen Latifa should Play Aretha! (not Halle)
and Vivica Fox should play Whitney!
and Tarajai should play Diana Ross!
and Fantasia should play moma Pattie!
and let me see oh yeah Halle could play the late Great Lena Horne!

  20. RIRI AKA MILLI VANILLI

The Milli Vanilli movie should be starring Rihanna who’s the biggest farce in music today.

  21. Whateva

Has to be Denzel Washington, haha…

  22. MIZZJACQUETTA

I HOPE JESSE MARTIN PLAYED MARVIN GAYE FOR REAL!!!!

  23. Barbara J

If the Marvin Gaye movie director wants to “keep it real”, the role MUST be played by Jesse L Martin. He has the same coloring, build & bears a real resemblance to Marvin. I agree with the other writers that Terrence Howard should play Smokey Robinson for the same reasons but I doubt Terrence’s ego would allow him to take the role. But if the directors reach out to all the neo-soul & young R&B artists to be other Motown artists, this film could be the new Dream Girls.

  24. david

I truly believe that Jessie L. Martin should play the part of Marvin Gaye, as he has the flexibility of voice, and the ability to move and dance unlike any other actor. I am certain that he would absolutely excel in this role.

  25. Steev

Jesse Martin can sing and dance in addition to his acting credits. He earned his mettle in Rent and Law & Order. He would be a natural to play Marvin Gaye, not only in talent but in looks. Terrence Howard doesn’t fit at all.

  26. Who else needs signs

I’m extremely impressed along with your writing talents as smartly as with the layout to your blog. Is this a paid subject or did you modify it your self? Either way stay up the nice high quality writing, it is rare to peer a nice blog like this one nowadays..
