We have the same thing in my home, my husband is the same complexion as Common, I am darker than him and our kids are darker than I am, we just have to look at our fathers to see where the kids got their complexions.

The science of DNA is so deep and complicated that a child can look like a relative you have never seen or met. Her mom is darker than Common and the daughter looks like her mother. Stop sending these negative vibes through the air and say nothing at all.

I know it’s hard to believe that no one would ever refer to someone, especially a child, as a “this” or a “that” (that was a bit of sarcasm) but people’s true colors always surface take for instance when John McCain referred to President Obama as “this one” when they were having their debates. I would just like to say that my dad is Common’s complexion and I’m the same shade as his daughter. I got my skin complexion from my maternal grandma. And my sister (same mother and father) is as the same complexion as Kerry Washington because she looks like my paternal great-grandmother. Genetics, especially skin tone, doesn’t involve just the two parents.
